The Bravehearts 777 Marathon Series is being held again in 2016 around Australia. This is an event like no other and sees participants run 7 marathons, across 7 states in 7 days. Our inspirational athletes run close to 300kms in one week and in the process raise money for Bravehearts to help educate, empower and protect Aussie Kids against sexual assault. Led by three-time Uncle Toby's Ironman Series winner, Guy Andrews, this event is not just for the fitness fanatic but those up for an amazing challenge. Taking on this heart-pounding adventure sees participants run marathons in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Hobart, Canberra, Kingscliff and the Gold Coast. Tue 5 Jul MT AINSLIE RUN UP AND POWER WALK (ACT)
Run and power walk up Mt Ainslie at 12.45pm on the first Tuesday of each month. Free. Start at Remembrance Park, Treloar Crescent, Campbell (behind the Australian War Memorial). Finish at the tower on the summit of Mt Ainslie. Make you own way back down the mountain. Altitude at the start 595m. The 3 Marathons in 3 Days is a staged trail race in the tropical rainforsets of Far North Queensland. It is run over three consecutive days over three different courses. This is the fifth year of the race that is held on the Atherton Tablelands. There are three other events on the same weekend and over the same course, but with varying distances. The Cairns Marathon, The Kauri Half Marathon and the 1&1/2. Early Bird entries end at 9.00pm on 3 April 2016. Late Fees apply from 5 June. Sun 10 Jul SRI CHINMOY SYDNEY 2016 SERIES RACE 5 - DOLLS POINT MARATHON, HALF-MARATHON, 10KM & 5KM. (NSW)
The full suite of classic road race distances: 5km, 10km, Half-Marathon and a full MARATHON make this annual event a true festival of running. The courses are scenic loops – flat for the most part, with a challenging rise over the spectacular Captain Cook Bridge crossing the Georges River. Relax post-race over a pancake breakfast in the happy ambience of Peter Depena Reserve, alongside Botany Bay. Park off Russell St, Dolls Point. On-the-day registration opens at 6.30 am and closes at 7.55 am. Sun 10 Jul KIAMA COASTAL CLASSIC (NSW)
For the first time ever the Kiama council have opened up this course to hundreds to run one of Australia's most scenic tracks! Held on the 10th of July the Kiama Coastal Classic is right in the heart of the running season, giving runners of all abilities the perfect lead up event to other major derbies or as an opportunity to pit themselves off against friends and family. Each section of this incredible run will keep Runners, Joggers and Walkers mesmerised, taking in the coastal vista and South Coast Icons including the Kiama Blowhole, Werri and Kiama Beaches with rolling green hills on one side and rugged coastline on the other. The running festival boasts three race distances; 2.5km, 10km and the main event, the 16km Kiama Coastal Classic. The three distances go past the iconic Kiama Blowhole, taking in the breathtaking vistas of the beautiful NSW South Coast. Sun 17 Jul SRI CHINMOY CANBERRA TRAIL SERIES 3: "GUNGAHLIN GALLOP" (ACT)
Canberra's north side hosts the Series finale. The track from Hall through to Oak Hill along Gungahlin's northern fringing ridge is the Rolls Royce of Canberra Trails. Especially commissioned for the Centenary Trail project, this beautifully sculptured track is a work of art, a trail to fall in love with… To fully appreciate the varying vistas in each direction, you really need to run this wonderful track both ways. Starting and finishing at Hall's historic Showground, both courses ascend to the summit of One Tree Hill, from where the 30km continues following the ACT/NSW border. Sun 31 Jul GREENACRES MOUNTAIN TO MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE (NSW)
Starting at the base of Mt Keira at Edmund Rice College and finishing at the heights of Mt Kembla, the Mountain to Mountain Challenge is a 13.6 kilometre run or walk up steep ascents, down deep dips and past some of Wollongong's most stunning scenery. After finishing the challenge, participants can celebrate with all the food, fun and entertainment of the Mt Kembla Mining Heritage Festival. A free shuttle service will then take everyone back to Edmund Rice College. Registrations for the Mountain to Mountain Challenge are now open and participants can register online by logging onto www.m2mchallenge.com.au.
