The Great Train Race isn't simply a race amongst fellow competitors - it's an exciting challenge competing against the steam locomotive, Puffing Billy! Explore the variable terrain along the race route through 13.5 km's of the Dandenong Ranges hills and fern gullies from Belgrave to Emerald Lake Park. NEW EVENT! Take on the new 4km Beach Fun Run on the iconic Bondi Beach. Get your running group together and take on a new challenge in 2017. Open to all ages 10 years old plus!The 4km beach run course will be run on the soft sand, starting at South Bondi at 8am. (Icebergs end of the beach). There will be 3.5 laps of the beach, going from the south to north and then looping back. Run and power walk up Mt Ainslie at 12.45pm on the first Tuesday of each month. Free. Start at Remembrance Park, Treloar Crescent, Campbell (behind the Australian War Memorial). Finish at the tower on the summit of Mt Ainslie. Make you own way back down the mountain. Altitude at the start 595m. Sat-Fri 6-6 May THE 2017 ROTARY TEAM CHALLENGE (WA)
Cycle, run or walk along parts of the picturesque Avon River edge, the Kep Track, the Railway Heritage Trail and John Forrest National Park to the finish line at the Swanview Railway Station. Choose your distance from 22km, 50km or 75km. This is a unique event which is a great physical challenge in a scenic part of Western Australia, and all for a great cause to raise funds for The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Western Australia (MSWA). Sat 6 May DARKNESS INTO LIGHT MELBOURNE (VIC)
Darkness into Light is the annual fundraising event for a Suicide & Self Harm Prevention charity which provides free counselling services to anyone affected by suicide, self harm or depression. Part of the proceeds are donated to a similar, local charity in Melbourne to help support the fight against suicide. Melbourne is holding it's 3rd annual 5km walk/run this year on May 6th. Starting in the early hours of the morning when it is still dark and crossing the line as the sun rises. Sun 7 May SRI CHINMOY SYDNEY 2017 SERIES RACE 3 - ROYAL NATIONAL PARK MARATHON, HALF-MARATHON, 10KM & 5KM TRAI (NSW)
The Sri Chinmoy Sydney Series goes bush, to the sublime Royal National Park south of the city. Immerse yourself in pristine forest on a lovely trail run. Because you’ll want to enjoy this magical realm to the max, a full MARATHON joins the Half-Marathon, 10km and 5km for a full suite of classic distances. Parking is near Willow Tree Flat, past Audley. National Park admission fee of $12 per vehicle applies. Alternatively, take our shuttle van from Loftus Station for $10 return, departing regularly from 6.30am. On-the-day registration opens at 6.30 am and closes at 7.55 am. The YMCA of Canberra 2017 Half Marathon features a beautiful and fast course around the western basin of Lake Burley Griffin in the heart of Canberra. A trail running "taster" at Canberra's original family playground, the Cotter. The Series starts with a moderate-grade 5km course (the 10km completes 2 laps) comprising a paved loop on the "Cotter Dam Discovery Trail" in the shadow of Cotter Dam, followed by a contrasting loop on walking tracks and fire trails with a river crossing, a hill and a sandy beach – a bit of everything. Park at the end of the Cotter Bend picnic area, off Cotter Rd.
