|Sat-Sun||26-27 May||MAXIMUM ADVENTURE RACE SERIES - ROYAL NATIONAL PARK (NSW)
Short, fast and fun, and suitable for anyone and everyone with a real sense of adventure, the Maximum Adventure Race Series is designed to offer the perfect introduction to the exhilarating sport of adventure racing. Designed for teams of two, the races are fun, fast and furious with teams having to change between three core disciplines several times during the event… mountain biking, trail running and kayaking. These non-stop events will take between two to six hours to complete so there is never any time to get bored or tired – you will constantly be challenged throughout the race, physically and mentally! The Classic Course consists of 15-25km of mountain biking, 5-10km of trail running and 2-4km of kayaking. The Novice Course consists of 5-15km of mountain biking, 3-5km of trail running and 1-2km of kayaking. Note: There are multiple legs of each discipline, which add up to the distances quoted. Each event will require some basic navigation skills, although if you can read a street directory, you will be able to complete the course! The YMCA of Canberra 2018 Half Marathon features a beautiful and fast course around the western basin of Lake Burley Griffin in the heart of Canberra. The weekend will fall on May 26-27 (with the half marathon on the Sunday). This race has been a major annual event in the calendars of YCRC members and other local and interstate runners and the tradition continues. The Bayside Fun Run in honour of local Olympian Albie Thomas is on again this year and will be held on Sunday, 27th May. The course follows the foreshore around Botany Bay giving the opportunity for a flat and fast run. There are two runs: 2km at 8:30 am 5km at 9:00 am Both runs start in Peter Depena Reserve at Dolls Point. A trail running "taster" at Canberra's original family playground, the Cotter. The Series starts with a moderate-grade 5km course (the 10km completes 2 laps) comprising a paved loop on the "Cotter Dam Discovery Trail" in the shadow of Cotter Dam, followed by a contrasting loop on walking tracks and fire trails with a river crossing, a hill and a sandy beach – a bit of everything. A new 2.15km short course for Novices and Kids has been added to the program. Park at the end of the Cotter Bend picnic area, off Cotter Rd.
