Sun 27 Jul DIABETES AUSTRALIA - VICTORIA RUN MELBOURNE TEAM (VIC)
Former Australian Ironman and Surf Lifesaving Champion Guy Leech is calling on participants in Run Melbourne to choose Diabetes Australia - Victoria as their beneficiary to help fight the State's biggest health challenge. An estimated 280,000 Victorians are living with diabetes. This year alone, an additional 25,000 Victorians will develop diabetes and thousands more are considered at-risk of developing diabetes. Research demonstrates that healthy eating and regular exercise can delay and even prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes. Diabetes Australia Victoria is hoping to raise $40,000 in this year's Run Melbourne with the goal of running with a team of 280 people, to represent the 280 Australians diagnosed with diabetes every day, at the July 27 event. All team members will get a team t-shirt to wear during the race and are invited to join in the post-run celebrations at the Diabetes Australian Victoria marquee. THE BRIDGE MARATHON The Bridge Marathon is six years old in 2014. Commencing at Teralba Park Mitchelton and passing along paths through the picturesque landscape of Albert Park and the Boondall Wetlands, concluding at Crockatt Park Woody Point on the Redcliffe peninsular. Two well equipped pitstops are provided along the way, and runners' times and event leg positions are real-time logged via the Bridge website. Participants can walk, run or form a relay team to make this their own marathon. Invest in the freedom of Dalit children, and their future. This great Cross-Country Fun-Run is back. The DUNGOG DASH & DAWDLE showcases our great town and the Dungog Common, and raises much-needed funds for the Dungog Shire Community Centre. There's a new category this year: Half Marathon. Half Marathon Trail Run 21 Km, Dash 12 Km, Dawdle 6 Km. Kids 12 and under, must be accompanied by an Adult (Dash or Dawdle). Starting in Canberra and now finishing in Jervis Bay! Capital to Coast is a multi stage running event from Canberra to the NSW Coast. For the third year, we invite medium and long distance runners to test themselves over the mid August weekend of 15th - 17th August 2014. Enter the individual 100km competition, or share the distance in the team event. A 10km prologue handicap event on Friday is followed by 6 stages of approx. 15km each on Saturday/Sunday. The Bilpin Rural Fire Service are very pleased to announce that the Bilpin Bush Run (formerly known as the Willy2Billy) will take place this year, on Saturday 23rd August, incorporating a new route. The course will commence at the Bilpin District Hall and wind its way along Mount Tootie Road and into the Wollemi National Park, around Mount Tootie and return to the hall. Participants will face various types of challenging terrain, surrounded by stunning vistas. Further information concerning the run, course map, entry form and fees can be found at www.bilpinbushrun.com.au Refreshments will be available to purchase, in the Bilpin District Hall, from 8am and a small community market will offer local produce and products. Sun 24 Aug GLENBROOK MARATHON (NSW)
Marathon The marathon will take runners on a quick lap of Euroka Clearing then up the "Goat Track" around Portal Waterhole and on to Mount Portal Lookout. From there runners will head back down Mount Portal and a right hand turn to some of the best single tracks in the nation park down into Camp Fire Creek at the lowest point on the course. Runners will start the climb following the creek to Red Hands Cave. Runners will continue the uphill grind to Nepean Lookout. Once at Nepean the runners will turn around and retrace their steps with a side trip down the rarely seen Pisgah Ridge Fire Trail for a quick out and back. The last 8kms will be kind to runners with a downhill on the Oaks Fire Trail then a quick trip down Bennetts Ridge Fire Trail and back into Euroka Clearing for the finish line. 34km Option The 34km course is not running Pisgah Ridge fire trail. Otherwise it will follow exactly the same route. 25km Option The 25km course follows the same route as the marathon until the top of Red Hands Cave Fire Trail than it�s an immediate left onto the Oaks Fire Trail for a downhill finish. Six Foot Track Marathon Qualifier Both 34km and 42km events will be qualifiers for the Six Foot Track Marathon.
