The challenge is simple, clear the obstacles and get around the course in as short a time as possible to be in the running for the coveted Tough Challenge Trophy! Running is the core discipline of the Tough Bloke Challenge but competitors should be prepared for anything... and don't expect to be clean when you come out on the other side – the taste of mud and sweat will be familiar by the end of the day. Despite the name, the event is also open to females in the "Tough Chick" category and a range of age categories, starting from 16 years of age. | Sun | 30 Jun | CAREFLIGHT WOODFORD TO GLENBROOK CLASSIC 2013 (NSW) This year's CareFlight Woodford to Glenbrook Classic will attract over 1000 entrants to run or ride the Oaks Fire Trail through the beautiful Blue Mountains National Park from the town of Woodford down to the Euroka Clearing near Glenbrook. Covering 25km of undulating bushland, the trail is incredibly scenic and a must for keen mountain bikers and trail runners. Participants are supported the full length of the track by Rural Fire Service crews stationed along the way, providing First Aid and drinks. A CareFlight doctor and St John Ambulance volunteers will also be in support. The event will finish with a community fair-style reception in the beautiful Euroka Clearing. Families are welcome to join in the fun with activities for the kids, food stalls and displays throughout the day. Mountain bike riders start from 9am and runners start from 10am. Exact start times and transport and parking details will be advised closer to the event. Registration is just $45 for adults and $20 for juniors, which only covers the cost of conducting the event. Money raised by entrants through donations and fundraising activities helps to fund the services of CareFlight. Each entrant is asked to assist with this. Teams and individuals are welcome to enter. Regarded as one of Australia's premier sporting events, the Gold Coast Airport Marathon is set to attract more than 28,000 participants of all ages and abilities from Queensland, interstate and overseas. The race program offers something for everyone, with the full 42.195km Gold Coast Airport Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km Run, 5.7km Challenge and the Junior Dash 4km and 2km races. The Big Red Run will be an exciting week long event, covering uncharted parts of the Simpson Desert as well as a sunset concert atop Big Red featuring Australian music legend, John Williamson. Runners can choose from the Big Red Run; a 250km 6 day stage race, the Big Red Dash; a 42k marathon from Birdsville to Big Red, or the Born to Run 100km; a unique 100km desert run. This event will be Australia's first and only 250km multi stage desert running race.
