Introducing our first ZOO RUN for Currumbin Wildlife Hospital. The ZOO RUN is a fun run where you'll run through Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. If you are a serious athlete take on the 5 kilometre challenge! Not so serious? No worries, how about a 2 kilometre family fun run / walk. You can even dress-up if you are that way inclined! We'll even have a prize for best-dressed entrant / team! The event will be starting at 6:30am and finishing by 8:00am. Of course, the ZOO RUN will be a fundraiser for the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital so you will be getting sweaty for a good cause! We'll need sponsors and supporters to get this organised, so please give us a call if you want to help this awesome event. We'll also need some volunteers! Prices are only $50 per participant for the 5 km run, or $40 per participant for the 2 km family fun run / walk. Riding in a pram or stroller is not permitted on the 5km bush track. Rotary (Peninsula 2.0) is partnering with Seaford Little Athletic Centre and Seaford North Primary School to conduct a Family Fun Run around the RAMSAR listed Seaford Wetlands, to raise awareness and funds for the establishment of a new mental health service in the wider Frankston area: Kindred Clubhouse Program. Kindred Clubhouses provide respect, hope, friendship and opportunities to those living with mental illnesses. The Seaford (and Edithvale) Wetland area is RAMSAR listed for its extraordinary variety of birdlife; especially as a nesting area for significant species of migratory birds. We know that physical activity helps support feelings of wellness and positivity; and we also know that mental illness affects not only the sufferer, but their families and friends too. Sat 29 Nov AFTERGLOW TWILIGHT-NIGHT TRAIL HALF MARATHON (VIC)
Australia's only night time trail half marathon! Held on the Surf Coast, an hour south west of Melbourne, Victoria, Afterglow starts out in the twilight glow of the final days of Spring, treading into the Surf Coast's Ironbark forest and quickly into the pitch of night, taking on the darkness with trails lit only by headlamps (and glow sticks). The unique event will finish with a carnival-like atmosphere with live retro music including a saxophonist playing on course, drummers on course, a DJ at the finish and 'glow-themed' entertainers. The Balmain Fun Run, held on Sunday 7th December 2014, is the final event on the Sydney Fun Run calendar, and attracts a high calibre of entrant. The winners of the 2013 10km event were Harry Summers (winner of the Australian 5000m Championships 2012) and ex-Olympian Victoria Mitchell. Aimed equally at serious runners and families looking for a fun day out, the BFR starts and finishes at King George Park and winds through Callan Park. It consists of 4 events: 10km run, 5km run/walk, 2km race (Primary School kids) and Porte a Partner 100m dash. Sun 14 Dec TREX CROSS TRIATHLON SPRINT/JUNIOR/TEASER COURSE - BENDIGO, VICTORIA (VIC)
The Australian Cross-Triathlon Championships and Multisport Weekend is based in the Murray Darling Basin in Bendigo, and is surrounded by parkland and nature reserves. Crusoe Reservoir, just 10 minutes from the heart of the city provides an idyllic backdrop for a weekend of Off Road Action at the Australian Cross Triathlon Champs & Multisport weekend. Following on from the Australian Champs on the Saturday, on Sunday the TreX Cross Triathlon Sprint course, Teaser course and junior competitors take to the trails. Sprint course competitors are in for a 500m swim, 10km mountain bike and 5km trail run, whilst the teaser course competitors and juniors will tackle a 200m swim, 6km mountain bike and 1km trail run. For those sprint course competitors who are after an added challenge, competing in the 10km trail run on the Sunday afternoon will put you in the running to be crowned mini Dirt Master/Mistress Victoria.
