|Sat||30 May||NEXUS CARE'S FRESH STARTATHON (QLD)
Take a step to feed a family in need! Hunger is not just a third world issue: 1.2 million Australians experience food insecurity, 1 in 4 South East Qld households can't afford basic groceries, and 50,000 children in Brisbane go without food. Nexus Care is passionate about making a difference to these statistics in our local community through the Fresh Start Food Program. Every month, Nexus Care provides approx 9,000 meals through our food relief program, which is equal to over 108,000 meals per year! Every week, Nexus Care supports four schools with fun, healthy school breakfast programs. Every fortnight, Nexus Care runs cooking classes to help empower people experiencing hardship with the skills to cook healthy, cheap meals for themselves and their families. By being a part of the Fresh-Startathon, you can help Nexus Care support more individuals and families in our Brisbane community with nutritious food and empower people with the knowledge and skills to provide healthy meals for their families. The event is light-hearted and fun with music, food, face painting, a jumping castle and a visit by Nexus Care's mascot, Apple Man! Prizes will be given to our top fundraiser and for 1st across the line in the events. All funds raised from the event will go towards supporting Nexus Care's Fresh Start Food Program. contact: 07 3353 7230. email: email@example.com. Visit the website for more details.
|Sat||30 May||WANDERLUST 108 BRISBANE (QLD)
Wanderlust 108 is a triathlon unlike any you've ever known. This "mindful triathlon" brings three events together in your favorite local park: a 5k run, an outdoor yoga experience, and a guided meditation -- but with a twist. Unlike most triathlons, we place community above competition, inner peace above power, and self-awareness above strength. We prefer slow food to fast run times. For us, winning is measured in laughs shared and new friends made. And unlike many events offering yoga and meditation, we combine our practice with a whole lot of fun. While we're pretty sure you'll be challenged during the day, we are equally sure you'll have a great time doing so. From live bands and DJs on our main stage, to lawn activities like hooping, slacklining and acroyoga, to our local food and craft vendors, there's a lot to do when you're not on your mat.
