|Wed-Thu||4-5 May||DARKNESS TO DAYLIGHT CHALLENGE RUN (QLD)
Every year in Australia approximately 110 women, children and men die because of domestic and family violence. This symbolic run is 1km for every life lost but also the ones left behind. Individuals can take on the whole 110km; teams can relay 110km through the night; and many others can join the challenge of the last 10km run or the 3km walk - representing our community and all the services that are there to help those faced with danger and despair. The lead runner will hold a candle symbolising the hope that people living with domestic violence feel when finding the courage to speak up and get the support that seems so out of reach. Services are available but it takes all of us to make a stand. If you want to speak out about domestic violence and help bring those affected out of the darkness and into the daylight, register at www.darknesstodaylightchallenge.com.au. contact: Melanie Wright (07) 3119 6347. email: email@example.com. With a radical concept, the Wings for Life World Run is a global race with a difference. Instead of a finish line, runners and wheelchair competitors - from beginners to elite athletes - race side by side to keep ahead of the Catcher Car. On May 8, 2016, over 100,000 participants in 34 locations worldwide will start the Wings for Life World Run at precisely the same time - whether that's dawn in North America, the middle of the day in Europe, or at night here in Australia. The Melbourne start time is 21:00 making for an exciting night running experience! Your race pack includes a LED LENSER headlamp (RRP$47) and a PUMA technical race t-shirt (RRP$35). The Catcher Cars take off 30 minutes after the start at 15km/h and steadily increase their speed, precisely synced across the globe, until the last participants have been caught. Set yourself a distance goal with our handy Goal Calculator and see how far you can run to make spinal cord injury curable. This year, we have an all new flatter and safer course for Melbourne which allows quicker transport back to the race hub where the live broadcast from all 34 locations will be waiting for you! 100% of your entry fee goes to spinal cord research. contact: Wings for Life World Run Team. email: http://www.wingsforlifeworldrun.com/au/en/contact/.
