This event is designed to capture the ANZAC spirit and deliver a contemporary platform through which communities can show their support for the ANZAC tradition, while raising funds for an RSL-nominated charity. The "Lest We Forget Run" will be held simultaneously all over Australia, in capital cities, regional centres and country towns as a platform to celebrate and remember the ANZAC spirit. All participating events will start, at an agreed time, with a one-minute silence to be observed by all competitors and officials. The "Lest We Forget Run" will be a 5-mile / 8 kilometre event; in recognition of the distance our ANZAC heroes were required to conquer upon landing at Gallipoli. 6THE 2004 WALK/FUN RUN FOR MS
8km Run, 10km Walk. Starts from, Fun Run: Bradfield Park, Milsons Point, Walk: Hyde Park, Sydney. Now in its 14th year, the annual Walk/Fun Run for Multiple Sclerosis attracts a wide range of sporting and recreational fitness enthusiasts including families, workmates, official company teams, friends, sporting and social groups. The MS Society is expecting over 3,000 people to participate in the 2004 event, and aims to raise $100,000. Funds raised go towards providing support services for over 4000 people living with MS in NSW and research into the cause and cure of this mysterious disease. While the Fun Run course is a familiar favourite, this year we are proud to introduce a new and exciting “stroller-friendly” Walk course. Starting and finishing in Hyde Park, walkers will journey along on a 10km path that will showcase many of the city’s attractions including historical landmarks, breathtaking views of the harbour and many of Sydney’s parklands and gardens. Start #1: 13.2km from Dee Why Beach at 8am. Start #2: 7km from Narrabeen at 9am, finishing at the Newport Arms Hotel, undercover Carpark, Kalinya St, Newport. Sydney’s Northern Beaches most famous fun run is on again, now named The Pub to Pub Coastal Route, Sunday August 22. In 2003 the community were outraged when external bureaucratic forces drove the organisers of the event to end the iconic and much loved fun run much to the dismay and disbelief of locals. This years run aims to be bigger, better and more fun than ever before and hopes to raise $100,000 for local charities including the local Surf clubs, Mona Vale & Manly Hospital, SES and NSW Rural Fire Service. The course will be now be split into 2 start points, course 1 (14kms) starts outside DY Surf Club (a stones throw from the DY Hotel) starting at 8:00am with the first 500m of the run being on hard-sand and will provide an interesting twist and challenge for the new coastal route.
