7CRADLE MOUNTAIN TRAIL RUN, TAS
6am start at Waldheim, Cradle Valley at the northern end of Cradle Mountain/Lake St.Clair National Park, finishes at Cynthia Bay at southem end of the park. approx. 82km of tough mountain trail running with lots of bog! 2LEST WE FORGET RUNS
8km run/walk. Starts vary but approx 9am. For more details see webpage. Athletics Australia and the Returned Services League are proud to announce the "Lest We Forget Run". This event is designed to capture the ANZAC spirit and deliver a contemporary platform through which communities can show their support for the ANZAC tradition, while raising funds for an RSL-nominated charity. The "Lest We Forget Run" will be held simultaneously all over Australia, in capital cities, regional centres and country towns as a platform to celebrate and remember the ANZAC spirit. All participating events will start, at an agreed time, with a one-minute silence to be observed by all competitors and officials. The "Lest We Forget Run" will be a 5-mile / 8 kilometre event; in recognition of the distance our ANZAC heroes were required to conquer upon landing at Gallipoli. The event is targeted at family involvement and participation, offering an event that optimises Australians' involvement in healthy and enjoyable physical recreation. 10km. Runners will start at 11:15am and wheelchair entrants will start at 11:30am. Assembly is at the intersection of Wilson and Cattley Streets. There are toilet facilities at the Burnie Council car park, Burnie Surf Life Saving Club and the multi storey cark park. Seeded runners listed in the programme are permitted to start at the front of the assembly area. Runners must stay in the right hand lane of the highway at all times. 21.4km Run and Recreational Walk. Starts times: Walk: 7am, Run: 8am, from Wrest Point Hobart Tasmania Entertainment Centre. On sealed roads from Wrest Point Entertainment Centre to Pinnacle of Mt Wellington 1270 mts/asl or as far as weather permits which may mean in worst case going up mountain road as far as possible and then returning,mainly downhill, to the start. You will pass through and by many of the landmarks featured in Bryce Courtenay's bestselling novel - The Potato Factory.The event is a Celebration of Human Endurance and Achievement.
