10 (Sat)GRAHAM IVES CELEBRATION RUN
Having arrived in Australia barely two years ago, Graham has been a huge contributor to our sport and has done so despite a battle with cancer. Coming to Australia from England and South Africa where he amassed a very impressive résumé of Ultramarathons, Graham has proved to be a very competent Treasurer of the Australian Ultra Runners Association [A.U.R.A.] and a regular supporter of most running events around Melbourne and country Victoria. He is well known amongst the Coburg Harriers, Traralgon Harriers, Victorian Road Runners and a variety of other groups. Graham has been a regular at many ultra events and gave his all despite his condition often forcing him to DNF. He made a return to his much loved Comrades Marathon in South Africa in 2003 as well as a final run last October that saw him finish the Melbourne Marathon. Graham is not capable of running anymore but is still sounding upbeat. Graham wishes to celebrate his lifetime of running with as many people as possible, so make the effort and come along to Graham's run. Starts 9am from Altona Yacht Club in Cresser Reserve, Altona. (Melway Ref 55A10). There is a BBQ in the reserve so bring along your sausages and drinks for a "get together" after the Hobble. We intend to have a run along the Altona foreshore and back which is 21km if you go the whole way but you can turn around any time you wish.
