The Orange Colour City Running Festival takes part in the beautiful Wine and Gourmet region of Orange in Central West NSW. The event offers races for all abilities from a 2km dash for the kids on the Saturday to the 5km, 10km, Half Marathon and Marathon which take place on the Sunday. The races are run on a fairly fast flat courses throughout the countryside surrounding Orange. Sun 13 Mar BLACK BULL HALF MARATHON (VIC)
The running of the Black Bull half marathon is part of the 2016 Murray Quad, which is a Quadrathlon (Triathlon plus a paddle) event that starts at the Yarrawonga Rowing club with a swim on Lake Mulwala, then a run around Yarrawonga, the chainman's island nature reserve and silverwood golf and lifestyle resort, a bike ride from Yarrawonga to Cobram via Wilby, Tungamaha and Katamatite and finally finishes a paddle on the Murray River to Tocumwal. To encourage more people to enter in 2016 event we are introducing single events for each of the four disciplines run at the same time as the Murray Quad. The Running of the Black Bull Half Marathon is a unique event that will include a loop around the exquisitely landscaped Black Bull golf course which is wrapped around the waters of Lake Mulwala. The run will start at around 8am just before the first swimmer from the Murray Quad event exits the water. Entry is via the website or the day before at the Murray Quad registration desk located at the Yarrawonga Rowing Club Results will be timed based and opened to all participants including those athletes competing in the Full distance and relay events of the Murray Quad. An 11km course up Mount Canobolas (1397m) near Orange, NSW. Run from Towac Pinnacle Picnic Grounds to the summit of Mt Canobolas via Mt Towac and Young Man Canobolas. It takes in spectacular views from the forestry roads and then on to little used bush tracks through beautiful woodland. Total course climb is 520m. This long running event is one of the best value Half Marathon races you will find. The Jabulani Challenge is a stunning trail run through the Ku-Ring-Gai National Park in the north of Sydney. Predominantly on single track the trail has everything to offer from waterside tracks, rainforest bushland, steep hill inclines and creek crossings. Exploring some of the hidden waterways that Pittwater is famous for its hard to believe you are only 30 minutes from the heart of Sydney. Wed-Mon 11-16 May ULTRA-TRAIL AUSTRALIA (NSW)
A five-day trail running festival of unprecedented scope. Previously branded as The North Face 100 and The North Face 50, the existing 100km and 50km events, already established as the southern hemisphere;s largest trail races, are now subsumed under the Ultra-Trail Australia brand. From May 11 - May 16, 2016, Katoomba, NSW, will play host to over 4000 athletes, spectators and support crew, converging for a five-day trail running extravaganza. Sat-Sun 21-22 May YMCA OF CANBERRA RUNNERS CLUB HALF MARATHON
For many years the Half Marathon weekend has been a major annual event in the calendars of YCRC members and other local and interstate runners and the tradition continues. Mark off the weekend of the 21st/22nd May in your calendars for the 2016 Half Marathon weekend! Saturday 21st May offers social runners and families a chance to compete in shorter runs including a 1.6k Mini Jog and a 5k Fun Run, and Sunday 22nd May is the day of the Half Marathon. Rex Foulkes, in whose memory this event is named, was a local distance runner, who died in a road accident returning to Cooma from Canberra after a race in 1970. The first Rex Foulkes Half Marathon held on 13th September 1970 had just 24 finishers.
