Two genuine off-road duathlons – short course and long course – in the heart of the city. Run through the grounds of the National Botanic Gardens, mountain bike and second run in the natural forest of Black Mountain Reserve. Start time 10 am, starting at the end of Frith Rd, Acton. Short course is 2 km run/7 km mountain bike/2.5 km run. Long course is 3 km run/23 km mountain bike/7.5 km run. Spring Trek Sydney is an annual 30 km, 4 person team trail walk/run to raise money for Room to Read, an organisation that promotes literacy and girls education in Asia and Africa. Set in the stunning Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, 50 teams will walk sections of the iconic Great North Walk less than an hour north from the heart of Sydney. The Run Larapinta Stage Race is a 4-day, 4-stage trail running race along the most spectacular sections of the iconic Larapinta Trail, in the MacDonnell Ranges around Alice Springs from August 12th to 15th, 2016. Including two course distance options: The Malbunka - long course with stages of 20-45km each day The Namatjira - short course with stages of 11-30km each day Trail runners worldwide are welcome; from the recreational to the elite. Sat 3 Sep COASTAL CLASSIC (NSW)
The Coastal Classic is a 29km trail run along one of the most stunning tracks in Australia, it has everything to offer from rocky terrain, sand running and beaches, to cliff-tops, bushland, rainforest and steep hill inclines. The scenery is spectacular with breathtaking coastal views on the beach and from the cliff tops. You literally feel like you are a million miles from anywhere. Set amid one of Australia’s oldest and wildest coastal terrains, in fact it is the world’s second oldest national park (after Yellowstone in the U.S), the Coastal Classic is a trail run along the Coast Track from Otford to Bundeena. With 29km of trails, beaches, sand and rainforest – this race has a little bit of everything with great views to top it off! The Sri Chinmoy Canberra Centenary 100km trail run was staged in 2013. With Canberra now 103 years old, in 2016 the event grows to 103km. Starting and finishing from The Rond Terraces, the route explores Parliament House, Red Hill, Isaacs Ridge, Farrer Ridge, Mt Taylor, Mt Arawang, Cooleman Ridge, Stromlo Forest Park, the National Arboretum, Cork Oaks, Aranda Bushland, Black Mountain Reserve, Mt Majura, Mt Ainslie and Lake Burley Griffin.
