Fri-Sun 14-16 Aug CAPITAL TO COAST (NSW)
Starting in Canberra and finishing in Jervis Bay, the Capital to Coast is a multi stage running event from ACT to the NSW Coast. The individual event is a 100km competition, with awards for aged & gender categories. Once again, team event options will also be available so you can share the distance over the weekend. Nowra Athletics Club invites medium and long distance runners to test themselves over the mid August weekend � 14 to 16 August 2015. A 10km prologue handicap event on Friday is followed by 8 stages covering a variety of distances on Saturday and Sunday. New Start/Finish Lake Ginninderra, Belconnen ACT, near at bottom of Townsend Place, off Aikman Drive. Restricted to men and women over 30 years and over. Triple start. 8am for those taking 2 hours plus. 8.30am for those taking between 100 and 120 minutes and 9am for those taking less than 100 minutes. Medals for first 3 in each age group. The Camelbak Southern Highlands Challenge trail running festival offers a scenic and challenging route through the forests and farmland of the Southern Highlands of NSW. Runners will experience hammering singletrack, forest tracks, dirt roads and no asphalt whatsoever. Exciting short, medium, long and ultra distances are available for runners of all abilities: everyone from experienced marathoners to newbies, school children to pensioners. Everyone is welcome at this family-friendly event at the beautiful Wingello forest in the Southern Highlands. Sat 5 Sep COASTAL CLASSIC (NSW)
The Coastal Classic is a 29km trail run along one of the most stunning tracks in Australia, it has everything to offer from rocky terrain, sand running and beaches, to cliff-tops, bushland, rainforest and steep hill inclines. The scenery is spectacular with breathtaking coastal views on the beach and from the cliff tops. You literally feel like you are a million miles from anywhere. Set amid one of Australia's oldest and wildest coastal terrains, in fact it is the world's second oldest national park (after Yellowstone in the U.S), the Coastal Classic is a trail run along the Coast Track from Otford to Bundeena. With 29km of trails, beaches, sand and rainforest - this race has a little bit of everything with great views to top it off! Sun 27 Sep SRI CHINMOY CANBERRA 102 TRAIL RUN
The Sri Chinmoy Canberra Centenary 100km trail run was staged in 2013. With Canberra now 102 years old, in 2015 the event grows to 102km: hence the Sri Chinmoy Canberra 102 Trail Run! Starting and finishing at Regatta Point, the route explores Parliament House, Red Hill, Isaacs Ridge, Farrer Ridge, Mt Taylor, Mt Arawang, Cooleman Ridge, Stromlo Forest Park, the National Arboretum, Cork Oaks, Aranda Bushland, Black Mountain Reserve, Mt Majura, Mt Ainslie and Lake Burley Griffin. Sat 3 Oct WESTERN SYDNEY MARATHON (NSW)
The Western Sydney Marathon has fast become Western Sydney's premier running event. It is one of the most affordable marathon events on the running calendar making it an attractive option for the experienced or entry level athlete. Situated in Penrith, the marathon is held at the Sydney International Regatta Centre which boasts scenic views of Penrith Lakes, Lower Blue Mountains and surrounding parkland. A flat fast course has been designed which navigates the main lake, crosses the island bridges to the Regatta Centre and weaves around roads within and outside of the venue. The Western Sydney Marathon celebrates healthy lifestyles, active communities and the great outdoors. It is a fun and festive day out for the whole family, with a health and fitness expo, activities for the kids during races, a jumping castle, entertainment, massage, market and food stalls.
