Sun 5 Jul SHOALHAVEN KING OF THE MOUNTAIN RUNNING FESTIVAL (NSW)
A family running festival offering a 2km run or walk and talk, a testing 5km run around the golf course or if you're looking for more of a challenge enter the 10 or 25km event. Whether you're a marathon specialist, a half marathon enthusiast or simply like running over mountains - then why not give it a go, you'll enjoy the experience. The "King" (25km) as it's known locally, will start and finish at the KV Country Club, with rolling hills, unspoilt bushland and glorious views of sheer cliff faces, valleys and ravines. The highest point of the race is Mount Scanzi - approximately 360m above sea level. The course takes you down a steep descent, on a fire trail and back up over the Mountain. Ample drink and refreshment stations are provided at convenient intervals. The 10km and 25km events are run on public roads and all participants should take due care.Whether you're an elite athlete, a casual runner, a fun runner or enjoy a walk with the family then we have a suitable event for you. The King of the Mountain is set in the beautiful Kangaroo Valley at the Country Club. Two genuine off-road duathlons – short course and long course – in the heart of the city. The Camelbak Southern Highlands Challenge trail running festival offers a scenic and challenging route through the forests and farmland of the Southern Highlands of NSW. Runners will experience hammering singletrack, forest tracks, dirt roads and no asphalt whatsoever. Sat 5 Sep COASTAL CLASSIC (NSW)
The Coastal Classic is a 29km trail run along one of the most stunning tracks in Australia, it has everything to offer from rocky terrain, sand running and beaches, to cliff-tops, bushland, rainforest and steep hill inclines. The scenery is spectacular with breathtaking coastal views on the beach and from the cliff tops. You literally feel like you are a million miles from anywhere. Set amid one of Australia's oldest and wildest coastal terrains, in fact it is the world's second oldest national park (after Yellowstone in the U.S), the Coastal Classic is a trail run along the Coast Track from Otford to Bundeena. With 29km of trails, beaches, sand and rainforest - this race has a little bit of everything with great views to top it off! The Sri Chinmoy Canberra Centenary 100km trail run was staged in 2013. With Canberra now 102 years old, in 2015 the event grows to 102km: hence the Sri Chinmoy Canberra 102 Trail Run! Starting and finishing at Regatta Point, the route explores Parliament House, Red Hill, Isaacs Ridge, Farrer Ridge, Mt Taylor, Mt Arawang, Cooleman Ridge, Stromlo Forest Park, the National Arboretum, Cork Oaks, Aranda Bushland, Black Mountain Reserve, Mt Majura, Mt Ainslie and Lake Burley Griffin. Sat 3 Oct WESTERN SYDNEY MARATHON (NSW)
The Western Sydney Marathon has fast become Western Sydney's premier running event. It is one of the most affordable marathon events on the running calendar making it an attractive option for the experienced or entry level athlete. Situated in Penrith, the marathon is held at the Sydney International Regatta Centre which boasts scenic views of Penrith Lakes, Lower Blue Mountains and surrounding parkland. A flat fast course has been designed which navigates the main lake, crosses the island bridges to the Regatta Centre and weaves around roads within and outside of the venue. The Western Sydney Marathon celebrates healthy lifestyles, active communities and the great outdoors. 1 November 2015 - Run for your Lifeline Canberra 2015 The 2nd Run for your Lifeline Canberra Fun Run/Walk will be a jam packed day of activities for both young and old, athletes and families on Sunday, 1 November 2015 from 6:00 am. The Run for your Lifeline Canberra provides entrants with the option to participate in a 5km, 10km or half marathon event on Majura Parkway. All funds raised goes towards crisis support and suicide prevention in the ACT community.
