The Sri Chinmoy Canberra Centenary 100km trail run was staged in 2013. With Canberra now 104 years old, in 2017 the event grows to 104km. Starting and finishing from The Rond Terraces, the route explores Parliament House, Red Hill, Isaacs Ridge, Farrer Ridge, Mt Taylor, Mt Arawang, Cooleman Ridge, Stromlo Forest Park, the National Arboretum, Cork Oaks, Aranda Bushland, Black Mountain Reserve, Mt Majura, Mt Ainslie and Lake Burley Griffin. Sat 30 Sep WESTERN SYDNEY MARATHON (NSW)
The Western Sydney Marathon at the Sydney International Regatta Centre has fast become Western Sydney's premier running event attracting runners from local regions, interstate and internationally. Situated in Penrith, the marathon is held at the Sydney International Regatta Centre which boasts scenic views of Penrith Lakes, Lower Blue Mountains and surrounding parkland. A flat fast course has been designed which navigates the main lake, crosses the island bridges to the Regatta Centre and weaves around roads within and outside of the venue. The Western Sydney Marathon celebrates healthy lifestyles, active communities and the great outdoors. It is a fun and festive day out for the whole family, with a health and fitness expo, activities for the kids during races, a jumping castle, entertainment, massage, market and food stalls. The 'Harrietville Half' is a Half Marathon road running event in the Alpine Shire from Bright along a spectacularly scenic, traffic free course to the iconic mountain village of Harrietville. 68km through the coveted trails in the Grose Valley, Blue Mountains. Runners start at the amazing private Allview Escapes property and make their way through 68km of tough and challenging single trail taking in the Grand Canyon, Blue Gum Forrest, Perrys Lookdown and Lockleys Pylon. Sat-Sun 14-15 Oct HUME & HOVELL ULTRA (NSW)
100 Mile, 100 Km, 50 Km and 22 Km Run/Walk on a section of the historic Hume and Hovell Walking Track. Start/Finish at Henry Angel Trackhead, 9 Km south of Tumbarumba on the Tooma road. The course is a mixture of constructed walking track, 90% single trail and the rest is fire trails. Drop bags, electronic timing, medals and certificates for all finishers. Generous cut off times to encourage people to come out an enjoy the area. Elevation of 4088 metres with varying degrees of difficulty, beautiful scenery, dams, waterfalls, gold mining relics and wild brumbies. Sydney Adventist Hospital, fondly known as "The San", is a not for profit Hospital, which has been serving the health needs of the community for over 110 years. The San is the largest private and largest not-for-profit hospital in New South Wales. Each year our dedicated staff care for over 56,000 inpatients, 18,000 emergency patients and 135,000 outpatients. The San Foundation is the principal fundraising body for our hospital and generates much needed funds for essential programs, equipment and buildings by holding such events at the annual San RunforLife. ​San RunforLife competitors participate in either a 10km, 5km run or a 5km walk and the event commences at 7am on Sunday, October 15, 2017 on the Hospitals front lawn. Individuals, families and competitive runners will again be participating, while local primary and high school teams will compete in the Schools Championship Cup. Run with the Wind is a community fun run located amongst the wind turbines at the Woodlawn wind farm near Tarago, New South Wales. Woodlawn wind farm is approximately a 45-minute drive from Canberra and 3 hours from Sydney. The wind farm comprises 23 wind turbines and has been operational since October 2011. The Bare Creek Trail Run is a great community event for runners and families alike. A 6km family run/walk and a 10km run for more experienced runners. It is a great way to experience the stunning Garigal National Park in St Ives. New is the St Ives Village 2km Dash for young ones to experience a short section of the Cascades trail and return. This can be a walk or run. This events is ideal for families with children of infants age or under. Whilst there are no prizes in the 2km Dash it provides a wonderful opportunity to introduce children to the excitement and fun of participating in such an event. An accompanying parent can run for free in the Dash. We meet at the Claude Road Hall. Course commences at Oliver's Road end of Mount Claude, traversing peaks of Mt Claude, Van Dyke and Roland finishing with the descent of Mt Roland down the face of the mountain, finishing at Claude Road Hall.This is a physically demanding event over mountain walking tracks, controlled by Parks and Wildlife, in an area where weather can deteriorate rapidly. A 100 mile endurance run like no other in the southern hemisphere. Starting in the ski township of Mt Buller, just 2.5hrs drive from Melbourne International Airport and with a downhill start � the Great Southern Endurance Run takes on the rugged and picturesque mountains and trails throughout the Victorian Alps.
