The Royal Run for Research is a fun, family-friendly fun run/walk suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. This year both the 8km run and the 6km walk start and finish at Kurilpa Point Park (on the corner of Montague Road and Stanley Place, South Brisbane). Registration is just $30 each for individuals (with a 10% discount if you book a group of four or more) and $70 for a family of four. Two genuine off-road duathlons – short course and long course – in the heart of the city. Run through the grounds of the National Botanic Gardens, mountain bike and second run in the natural forest of Black Mountain Reserve. Start time 10 am, starting at the end of Frith Rd, Acton. The Pomona King of the Mountain Festival is held in the Noosa Hinterland town of Pomona, climaxing with the Bendigo Bank International Mountain Challenge where competitors run up the face of Mount Cooroora. Sun 30 Jul SRI CHINMOY CANBERRA TRAIL SERIES 3: "GUNGAHLING GALLOP" (ACT)
Canberra's north side hosts the Series finale. The track from Hall through to Oak Hill along Gungahlin's northern fringing ridge is the Rolls Royce of Canberra Trails. Especially commissioned for the Centenary Trail project, this beautifully sculptured track is a work of art, a trail to fall in love with… To fully appreciate the varying vistas in each direction, you really need to run this wonderful track both ways. Starting and finishing at Hall's historic Showground, both courses ascend to the summit of One Tree Hill, from where the 30km continues following the ACT/NSW border. Can you do your chosen event twice? 42 kms 21 kms or 8.5 km Fara trail fun run The Lamington Eco Challenge is a trail running event featuring some tough terrain in the Scenic Rim Hinterland in South East Queensland, including four wheel drive tracks, grassy paddocks, bush and a couple of hills as well as having to negotiate creeks, gates, cattle grids and the potential wandering livestock. What makes this event very different is that it plays out over two days; you get to sleep the night in a cozy warm bed. Last year on a perfect day at Dee Why Beach around 75 runners joined us in the first RokiRoad Beach Challenge, a 4km soft sand run from DYSLSC to Long Reef point and back. Run Larapinta is a four-day, four-stage trail running race along the most spectacular sections of the Larapinta Trail in the Northern Territory, from Friday 11 to Monday 14 August 2017. The event provides the ideal opportunity for runners to combine their love of running with a visit to one of the most spectacular destinations in Australia, the Red Centre. The Thunderbolt Trail Race presented by Salisbury Lodges, runs through patches of untouched forest in the Barrington Tops National Park. The course takes you winding past cascades, eucalyptus, across and through subtropical delights of the scenic Williams River valley, while entering an enchanting patch of ancient rainforest. For those wanting an extra challenge, the course heads up the Corker Trail and its not called the Corker Trail for nothing!! This part of the course is a high altitude, high-octane adventure in the rugged mountain country. This challenging track follows the ridgeline from Lagoon Pinch picnic area to Carey's Peak on the Barrington Plateau. We promise it won't just be the scenery that takes your breath away. Winding through a variety of vegetation, from tall open woodlands to lush rainforest and cool temperate stands of Antarctic beech, your vigorous effort will be rewarded with brilliant views near Corker Mountain. Sun 20 Aug 64KM KURANDA TO PORT DOUGLAS ULTRA TRAIL RACE AND RELAY; 16KM BUMP TO BEACH (QLD)
This 64 kilometre point-to-point race is incorporated in the Mowbray National Park within the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. Teams of 2-4 runners can also complete the full course. It starts just off Kennedy Highway in Kuranda and follows Black Mountain Road through native rainforest, open eucalyptus forest, pine plantations and over picturesque creeks. There is a shorter 16 kilometre race on the same day, starting at the top of the Bump on Black Mountain Road. The finish is on Four Mile Beach, Port Douglas. The tropical rainforest is home to the endangered southern cassowary, a flightless bird that can grow to two metres in height - you might see one! Early Bird entries end at 9.00pm on 25 May. Located on the stunning Sunshine Coast, Queensland near the barrier reef and Steve Irwin's iconic Australia Zoo, this not-for-profit event has been timed to make the most of the ideal Queensland winter running conditions. Blue skies, low humidity and mild temperatures - combined with a flat course always enable fast times. The course record currently stands at 2:18:30 set by Ethiopian, Samuel Woldemanuel in 2015. Event distances include the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km, 5km and the 2km. Each road race follows the stunning coastline of Alexandra Headlands with white sandy beaches and spectacular vantage points alongside the ocean. The Half Marathon is a one loop course with Marathon entrants completing a multi loop course (1 x 21km + 2 x 10.5km) making the most of the on-course entertainment and crowds of spectators before a red carpet 'hero' finish. Sydney Adventist Hospital, fondly known as "The San", is a not for profit Hospital, which has been serving the health needs of the community for over 110 years. The San is the largest private and largest not-for-profit hospital in New South Wales. Each year our dedicated staff care for over 56,000 inpatients, 18,000 emergency patients and 135,000 outpatients. The San Foundation is the principal fundraising body for our hospital and generates much needed funds for essential programs, equipment and buildings by holding such events at the annual San RunforLife. ​San RunforLife competitors participate in either a 10km, 5km run or a 5km walk and the event commences at 7am on Sunday, October 15, 2017 on the Hospitals front lawn. A 100 mile endurance run like no other in the southern hemisphere. Starting in the ski township of Mt Buller, just 2.5hrs drive from Melbourne International Airport and with a downhill start � the Great Southern Endurance Run takes on the rugged and picturesque mountains and trails throughout the Victorian Alps. Runners climb over 9400m and descent 10,600m in their quest to get to the finish line in the picturesque township of Bright, Victoria.
