The ultra running community will show their respect and honour the lives of our defence service men and women by making the 435km journey on the Canberra Centenary Trail from 6 to 12 April 2015. This will be the one and only time this event will take place. The legend of ANZAC was born on 25 April 1915, and was reaffirmed in eight months' fighting on Gallipoli. The Australians displayed great courage, endurance, initiative, discipline, and mateship. Such qualities came to be seen as the ANZAC spirit. The newly federated nation had looked to its rural environment for its national character. The 'bushmen', and their women, were seen to possess hardiness, democratic spirit, mateship, and resourcefulness. The Ultra aims to raise over than $50,000 for Legacy. This will be done by online fundraising by the race and individual competitors. Once all bills are paid any money left over will be donated to Legacy. Legacy is a charity providing services to Australian families suffering financially and socially after the incapacitation or death of a spouse or parent, during or after their defence force service. Legacy currently cares for 100,000 widows and 1,900 children and disabled dependants throughout Australia. The ANZAC Ultra 2015 will be run as a continuous multi-day ultramarathon. Runners will be required to run /walk as they please over the route within the specified time limit. Each runner will provide their own crew to provide supplies, safety and support. The race will start from Stromlo Forest Park with 50 runners in the 435km option and then as it progresses more runners will join with either a 290km or 145km option culminating on the second last day with up to 320 runners helping remember the ANZAC Centenary.  contact: Phil Essam. email: anzacultra@gmail.com. Visit the website for more details.

Sat 27 Jun SURF COAST TRAIL MARATHON (VIC)
The Surf Coast Trail Marathon is a trail running event offering participants marathon and half marathon runs along the stunning Surf Coast Walk tracking from Torquay to Fairhaven on Victoria's famed Surf Coast, an hour south west of Melbourne. In the marathon, you can have a crack at the full distance solo, or knock off roughly half each in teams of two. Or try the half for a taster. This is the perfect event for ALL runners - road or trail orientated - eyeing the two quintessential distances. For road runners it offers a first taste for trail, without being intimidating as a relatively non-technical, non-remote, non-mountainous trail. For experienced trailites, the route still features stunning wilderness with coastal viewpoints you won't believe (and becomes a truly go-fast course with plenty of good twists and turns). From iconic Bells Beach (yes you run a short stretch of this hallowed turf) to the clifftops of Point Addis and Anglesea and on to Split Point lighthouse at Airyes Inlet: this course deserves to be renowned for the sheer experience of journeying through a unique natural environment . We thought that a run along its entirety was worth a shot. contact: Chris Ord, Tour de Trails. email: chris@tourdetrails.com. Visit the website for more details. Click here for an entryform.

Sun 28 Jun FREYCINET TRAIL RUN (TAS)
The Freycinet Peninsula is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful locations in the world. With 26 km of exceptional track interspersed with pristine beaches this trail run will be hard to race with the temptation to stop for a swim or take in the view! We have two options for this trail run with a shorter 11 km circuit via Wineglass Bay and Hazards Beach, and the full 29 km circuit taking in Mt Graham and Cooks Beach. If this is your first trail run we strongly suggest you do the shorter circuit. We cannot take walkers on the long circuit due to the time it takes to complete that distance. If entering the 29km run you need to be capable of completing the course in under 5:30hrs. We recommend the 29 km run for experienced trail runners, the course is rough underfoot and is marked only with cairns in some parts of the track contact: Kris, (03) 62278520. email: info@endorfun.com.au. Visit the website for more details. Click here for an entryform.
