Sat-Sun 26-27 May MAXIMUM ADVENTURE RACE SERIES - ROYAL NATIONAL PARK (NSW)
Short, fast and fun, and suitable for anyone and everyone with a real sense of adventure, the Maximum Adventure Race Series is designed to offer the perfect introduction to the exhilarating sport of adventure racing. Designed for teams of two, the races are fun, fast and furious with teams having to change between three core disciplines several times during the event… mountain biking, trail running and kayaking. These non-stop events will take between two to six hours to complete so there is never any time to get bored or tired – you will constantly be challenged throughout the race, physically and mentally! The Classic Course consists of 15-25km of mountain biking, 5-10km of trail running and 2-4km of kayaking. The Novice Course consists of 5-15km of mountain biking, 3-5km of trail running and 1-2km of kayaking. Note: There are multiple legs of each discipline, which add up to the distances quoted. Each event will require some basic navigation skills, although if you can read a street directory, you will be able to complete the course! A trail running "taster" at Canberra's original family playground, the Cotter. The Series starts with a moderate-grade 5km course (the 10km completes 2 laps) comprising a paved loop on the "Cotter Dam Discovery Trail" in the shadow of Cotter Dam, followed by a contrasting loop on walking tracks and fire trails with a river crossing, a hill and a sandy beach – a bit of everything. The Sri Chinmoy Canberrra Trail Series heads to Tuggeranong for a varied exploration of the Murrumbidgee Corridor. Barely minutes from the Town Centre, you'll think you were miles from anywhere as you wend your way northward through bushland, and return along the riverside walking track. The short 2km course heads south and back again; the 8km course loops around at Tuggeranong Creek; while the 20km goes as far as Kambah Pool before heading south. Saturday has the 100km course, being 2 laps in one direction and 2 laps in reverse; and the 50km course, 2 laps in one direction. Sunday has 25km, 13km and kids trail races. Especially commissioned for the Centenary Trail project, this beautifully sculptured track is a work of art, a trail to fall in love with… To fully appreciate the varying vistas in each direction, you really need to run this wonderful track both ways. The Dungog Dash and Dawdle is a cross country fun run which showcases the stunning hills and valleys of Dungog, the beautiful and historic Dungog Common. It is the key fundraiser of much-needed funds for the Dungog Shire Community Centre, the hub for all things community in the region. There is a 21 km half marathon trail run, 12km dash, 6km dawdle, Kids Dash or Dawdle (12 years and under) and a Doggy Half. A member of the Association of International Marathons & Road Races (AIMS), the 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon and Community Running Festival is one of the most-loved running festivals in Australia. Since its inception the 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon has raised over $1.3 million for charity and community groups. Located on the stunning Sunshine Coast, Queensland an hour's drive north of Brisbane this not-for-profit event has been timed to make the most of the ideal Queensland winter running conditions. Standard distance 28.7k has been running for 11 yrs and the inaugural Ultra Distance 57.4k was incorporated into the event weekend in 2016. It was cancelled in 2017 due to cyclone damage. The course travels through the Conway National Park rainforest, ending up at the Airlie Beach Lagoon. Total entries are capped at 200. Short, fast and fun, and suitable for anyone and everyone with a real sense of adventure, the Maximum Adventure Race Series is designed to offer the perfect introduction to the exhilarating sport of adventure racing. Designed for teams of two, the races are fun, fast and furious with teams having to change between three core disciplines several times during the event… mountain biking, trail running and kayaking. These non-stop events will take between two to six hours to complete so there is never any time to get bored or tired – you will constantly be challenged throughout the race, physically and mentally! The Classic Course consists of 15-25km of mountain biking, 5-10km of trail running and 2-4km of kayaking. Sun 9 Dec GC50 RUN FESTIVAL (QLD)
The GC50 Run Festival on Sunday, 9 December 2018 has 50km, 30km, 15km and 5km races and a 2x25km relay in Broadbeach, Queensland. The 50km is from Kurrawa to Coolangatta and back; the 30km from Kurrawa to Currumbin and back; the 15km from Kurrawa to Burleigh and back; and the 5 km along Hedges Avenue to Seaside Avenue and return. The run course is on either footpath or roadway, not on the beach. This is one of a handful of officially accredited AIMS-IAAF certified 50 km road races in Australia. The Wangaratta Marathon and Fun Runs is bought to you by Justin and Sharon Scholz of Wangaratta Fitness Fun Addicts. The event motto says it all - "More people moving more often". Entry prices for this event are much less than their counterparts and we take pride in that. We arent looking for big profits, but we are unashamedly looking to draw people to Wangaratta to enjoy the beautiful path networks and environmental surrounds of our thriving rural city. We secretly hope that we can encourage people to engage more in physical happiness and become more active than they were before joining our event. We measure success on entry numbers, total distance covered by entrants and return entries in future years.
