A member of the Association of International Marathons & Road Races (AIMS), the 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon and Community Running Festival is one of the most-loved running festivals in Australia. Since its inception the 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon has raised over $1.3 million for charity and community groups. Located on the stunning Sunshine Coast, Queensland an hour's drive north of Brisbane this not-for-profit event has been timed to make the most of the ideal Queensland winter running conditions. Blue skies, low humidity and mild temperatures combined with a flat course always enable fast times. The course record currently stands at 2:18:30 set by Ethiopian, Samuel Woldemanuel in 2015. Event distances include the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km, 5km and the 2km. Each road race follows the stunning coastline of Alexandra Headlands with white sandy beaches and spectacular vantage points alongside the ocean. The Half Marathon is a one loop course with Marathon entrants completing a multi loop course (1 x 21km + 2 x 10.5kms) making the most of the on-course entertainment and crowds of spectators before a red carpet -hero- finish. With a distance to suit every ability and age group, this community-focused, world-class athletic event caters to all those wanting to take part, including families and those with both physical and intellectual disabilities. The 2km event allows parents with prams and wheelchair entrants to take part and enjoy the festival atmosphere. Race start times are scheduled to allow for parents to run the longer distances and then return in time to run with the kids and enjoy all the free fun in the family entertainment precinct. contact: Atlas Multisports. email: firstname.lastname@example.org. The Alpine Challenge is without doubt the toughest, most challenging, most spectacular and rewarding all mountain trail run in Australia if not the southern hemisphere over four distances. Imagine completing 4 marathons in 42 hours; that is the challenge you could face if you decide to enter the Alpine Challenge 100mile event. The 12th Falls Creek Alpine Challenge Ultra Marathon, covers four distances 160/100/60/36km. With over 7,600 meters of climb and descent, this event is the classic 100 mile alpine trail run in Australia; testing runners to the limit. It also offers one of the countrys most scenic and challenging 100 km runs covering over 4,000m of ascent and descent. Our "mid easy" run option,60km covers 2,000m of ascent and descent and our "easy" run is a mere 36km including 1,300m of ascent - a great intro to long distance alpine running. All the four distances offer participants the opportunity to compete as: a solo runner, a team completing the entire course together or a relay team with runners completing individual legs either on their own or with other team members this is the real fun event! Set in the spectacular Alpine National Park in North Eastern Victoria the event takes in some of the best, hardest and most exposed high country in Australia including Mt Feathertop, Mt Hotham, Mt McKay, Spion Kopje, Mt Nelse and Victorias highest mountain, Mt Bogong. contact: Paul Ashton. email: email@example.com.
