The IGA Bingara Buster is a nationally advertised event targeting the athlete with superior fitness. A 3 km hill climb to the summit of Batterham Lookout with an elevation of 250 metres over the full distance and a challenging 1 in 4 climb over the second half of the course. The O'Keefe Rail Trail Marathon runs along the historic rail trail that joins Bendigo to Heathcote. The surface is suitable for both trail runners or also road runners and similar to the famous tan track in Melbourne. Fast times were run in the inaugural event last year. 29th Geelong Half Marathon at 8:00 a.m. and 7 km run at 8:30 a.m. Easily found under the Moorabool Street Bridge in Geelong with plenty of nearby parking. There is over $3500 in prizes as well as additional spot prizes. As in past years, there is a $200 bonus for anyone breaking the open records. Entries close Saturday April 22, 2017 (at MIDDAY). Adult entry is $55, Australian Health Card holders and under 18, $40. An additional feature is a 7 km run starting at 8:30am. The Cleland Trails on the 23rd of April include three sub-events, measuring approximately 25km, 12 km and 6 km. The first is for runners 16 years and older only and is the championship event. The shorter sub-events are for runners and walkers of any age. Enjoy racing along the wooded slopes of Mt Lofty, with views down rugged valleys and beyond as far as the sea. Sun 23 Apr ANZAC DAY CHALLENGE (NSW)
The ANZAC Day Challenge is staged on stunning trails across two National Parks within northern Sydney- the Ku-rin-gai and Garigal National Parks. The 40km event known as The NEK 40 Challenge and is a point to point race which will begin at the Manly Dam Memorial at 6.45am and finish at the event hub at St Ives Showground, with an 8 hour time limit. The 25km event known as the Hill 60 Challenge will be the same as 2016 starting and finishing at St Ives Showground, and taking runners on a spectacular and scenic course down to Bobbin Head and back. This event will have a 6 hour 30 minute cut off. The Great Train Race isn't simply a race amongst fellow competitors - it's an exciting challenge competing against the steam locomotive, Puffing Billy! Explore the variable terrain along the race route through 13.5 km's of the Dandenong Ranges hills and fern gullies from Belgrave to Emerald Lake Park. Cycle, run or walk along parts of the picturesque Avon River edge, the Kep Track, the Railway Heritage Trail and John Forrest National Park to the finish line at the Swanview Railway Station. This is a unique event which is a great physical challenge in a scenic part of Western Australia, and all for a great cause to raise funds for The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Western Australia (MSWA). Darkness into Light is the annual fundraising event for a Suicide & Self Harm Prevention charity which provides free counselling services to anyone affected by suicide, self harm or depression. Part of the proceeds are donated to a similar, local charity in Melbourne to help support the fight against suicide. Melbourne is holding it's 3rd annual 5km walk/run this year on May 6th. The Sri Chinmoy Sydney Series goes bush, to the sublime Royal National Park south of the city. Immerse yourself in pristine forest on a lovely trail run. The 8km course loops around at Tuggeranong Creek, while the 20km goes as far as Kambah Pool before heading south.
