Wed-Thu 4-5 May DARKNESS TO DAYLIGHT CHALLENGE RUN (QLD)
Every year in Australia approximately 110 women, children and men die because of domestic and family violence. This symbolic run is 1km for every life lost but also the ones left behind. Individuals can take on the whole 110km; teams can relay 110km through the night; and many others can join the challenge of the last 10km run or the 3km walk - representing our community and all the services that are there to help those faced with danger and despair. The lead runner will hold a candle symbolising the hope that people living with domestic violence feel when finding the courage to speak up and get the support that seems so out of reach. Services are available but it takes all of us to make a stand. The endurance event is open to all challengers and has multiple solo and team formats that make the concept of racing 24 hours palatable for most fitness levels. Racers are invited to challenge the course solo in a grueling and mentally demanding battle, or to register for the event as part of a two or four person team. Only one racer is allowed on course at a time, so the option is open to competitors to hit the course as hard as they like, then rest and enjoy the company of likeminded friends while waiting for team mates to return from their lap. Strategy will play a major part in how well a team performs and it is open to teams to take it as easy and friendly, or as hard and as serious, as they choose. email: support@truegrit.com.au. Visit the website for more details.
