The Maitland River Run is now entering its 4th year and in 2013 will stage 4 exciting run/walk events during the day. Offering a picturesque 4km course in and around the Mall and River Bank of Maitland's CBD, the event is open to novice and elite competitors. You can either run/walk the 1 Lap 4km course, 2 lap 8km course or 3 lap 12km course. There will also be a 1609m (one mile) sprint event open to serious and novice runners who would like to *Run the Mile*! The redesigned course will have plenty of space for the anticipated large crowds which will allow for a much larger event compound and festival. Back by popular request, the Como Landing Half-Marathon also includes a 14km and 7km run. The course is a 7km circuit of the Yarra River. Sun 26 May BANKSTOWN HEART OF THE LAKE 3KM &10KM RUN/WALK (NSW)
Races start and finish at the Western Districts Joggers and Harriers' Clubhouse at Lake Gillawarna- 150m west of the footbridge over Henry Lawson Drive, between Flinders Rd and Georges Cres, Georges Hall. Start Times: 10KM - 8.00am, 3KM - 8.15am. Picturesque traffic free running course follows pathways and trails in a park and Lake setting, a balanced and "honest" 10km course with a good mix of hills and flats. The 3km course is fast and flat for a PB time for the faster runners or an "easy" walk/Run course for the beginner runner and family groups. Awards for 1st, 2nd & 3rd Female and Male outright and in each age category for both races also for teams of six under 16years for Schools and other Community Groups. Run or walk on a traffic-free course from Lindfield Oval via Roseville Bridge to Seaforth Oval through some of Sydney's most spectacular bushland. The course is 15km, mostly on bush tracks and fire trails, with some steep sections. Now in its 39th year! Proceeds from the event go to the Association to assist in running our sport. On Sunday, June 2 get out from under the doona, pull on your runners and take part in the MS Walk and Fun Run in Sydney, Melbourne or Canberra. The MS Walk and Fun run is an enjoyable healthy way to join family, friends and thousands of other enthusiastic supporters and in doing so you can help us kiss goodbye to MS. This challenging 8km run sets off from Bradfield Park in Milsons Point. You'll run along the harbour front to Balls Head Reserve and back through some of Sydney's most scenic streets. This year's CareFlight Woodford to Glenbrook Classic will attract over 1000 entrants to run or ride the Oaks Fire Trail through the beautiful Blue Mountains National Park from the town of Woodford down to the Euroka Clearing near Glenbrook. Covering 25km of undulating bushland, the trail is incredibly scenic and a must for keen mountain bikers and trail runners. Participants are supported the full length of the track by Rural Fire Service crews stationed along the way, providing First Aid and drinks. A CareFlight doctor and St John Ambulance volunteers will also be in support. The event will finish with a community fair-style reception in the beautiful Euroka Clearing. Families are welcome to join in the fun with activities for the kids, food stalls and displays throughout the day. Mountain bike riders start from 9am and runners start from 10am. Exact start times and transport and parking details will be advised closer to the event. Registration is just $45 for adults and $20 for juniors, which only covers the cost of conducting the event. Money raised by entrants through donations and fundraising activities helps to fund the services of CareFlight. Each entrant is asked to assist with this. Teams and individuals are welcome to enter. This year's Coal and Allied Winery Running Festival in the beautiful Hunter Valley, expects to attract more than 3000 participants. Just one week after the City2Surf, August 17-18th 2013 is the date set for the unique Wiradjuri walking Track, Wagga Wagga Trail Marathon Running Weekend. Saturday 17th August will be the 5 km fun run and Sunday August 18th will be the cross-country trail marathon that is 95% off-road. On the day will be a marathon relay, a half marathon and a 10km run, something for all the family. Wagga Wagga Road Runners (WWRR) hosted the 5th Wagga Wagga Trail Marathon in 2012 with a big increase in runner numbers. Most runners say that running trails are so much more interesting then running around hard road. The final race in the FNQ Trail Running series. This Point-to-Point race starts just off Kennedy Highway in Kuranda and follows Black Mountain Road that runs through native rainforest, open eucalyptus forest, pine plantations and crosses picturesque creeks to finish on Four Mile Beach, Port Douglas. The course incorporated in the Mowbray National Park within the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. The tropical rainforest is home to the endangered southern cassowary, a flightless bird that can grow to two metres in height - you might see one! Sponsor: It's Extreme. The historic 6km Bump Track offers views of the Mowbray River valley where the Mowbray River drops through a gorge carved into the forested foothills of the Macalister Range. In the olden days passengers on the horse-drawn coach service had to get out and walk when going up or coming down the section known as Slatey Pinch – a cutting through slate rock at a steep 1 in 3 grade, about 1 kilometre from the bottom of the tack. From the bottom of the bump, follow (mostly) sealed roads into Port Douglas to finish on famous Four Mile Beach. The Coastal Classic is a running race along the classic Coast Track from Otford to Bundeena. With 29km of trails, beaches, sand and rainforest – this race has a little bit of everything with great views to top it off! While the Royal National Park has long been used by runners, thanks to its beautiful scenery and easy access from Sydney's Southern Suburbs, there hasn't been a long trail race in the Park in recent years (apart from along Lady Carrington Drive). The Races start and finish at the Western Districts Joggers and Harriers' Clubhouse at Lake Gillawarna- 150m west of the footbridge over Henry Lawson Drive, between Flinders Rd and Georges Cres, Georges Hall. The course, reputed to be one of the most picturesque traffic free running courses in Sydney Metro, follows pathways and trails in a park and Lake setting, providing a balanced and "honest" 21 km course with a good mix of hills and flats. The 5km course is fast and flat but it also provides for an "easy" walk/Run course for the beginner runner and family groups. If you want to try out the course come down any Saturday for our Club's Saturday Run, 7.15am you will be most welcome. Imagine running at the foot of some of Australia's tallest coastal cliffs, while the low tide of the Southern Ocean laps the sand at your feet. Ahead lies a magical 100km trail run journey along Victoria's wild surf coast and exploring its hinterland. The course runs past lighthouses, waterfalls, scenic lookouts, renowned surf beaches (heard of Bells?), surf life saving clubs, remote wilderness and almost everything in between. Best of all, the Surf Coast Century gives everyone the opportunity to get a taste for ultra running without necessarily having to run an entire ultra! The event is open to individuals (100km) and relay teams of up to four runners, with each team member tackling legs between 25km and 50km, making this a very do-able event by all. The scenic Yurrebilla Trail runs for 56 km through the rugged western escarpment of the Adelaide Hills. It ascends 1865 m and descends 2060m, and is over 600m at its highest point. At no point is it more than 18km from the centre of Adelaide; yet most of it runs through native woodland which varies constantly along the route.
