The Sri Chinmoy Canberrra Trail Series heads to Tuggeranong for a varied exploration of the Murrumbidgee Corridor. Barely minutes from the Town Centre, you'll think you were miles from anywhere as you wend your way northward through bushland, and return along the riverside walking track. The short 2km course heads south and back again; the 8km course loops around at Tuggeranong Creek; while the 20km goes as far as Kambah Pool before heading south. Parking is at Pine Island North picnic area, at the end of Pine Island Rd, Tuggeranong. The Elephant Trail Race is from Saturday, 21 July to Sunday, 22 July 2018 at the Cairncross State Forest in Port Macquarie, NSW. The event follows a 25km course, with approximately 1100m elevation per lap (100km has approximately 4500m). Saturday has the 100km course, being 2 laps in one direction and 2 laps in reverse; and the 50km course, 2 laps in one direction. Sunday has 25km, 13km and kids trail races. The 100km can also be run as a relay team of two people, each running 1 lap in each direction. Canberra's north side hosts the Series finale. The track from Hall through to Oak Hill along Gungahlin's northern fringing ridge is the Rolls Royce of Canberra Trails. Especially commissioned for the Centenary Trail project, this beautifully sculptured track is a work of art, a trail to fall in love with… To fully appreciate the varying vistas in each direction, you really need to run this wonderful track both ways. Starting and finishing at Hall's historic Showground, the 2,2km meanders around the foreslopes, while the 2 longer courses ascend to the summit of One Tree Hill, from where the 30km continues following the ACT/NSW border. Starting at the historic Sydney Rocks area, the 10k course is a one lap loop which hugs the Harbour foreshore to ensure spectacular views throughout. The 5k takes in some of Sydney's most beautiful sights. The Dungog Dash and Dawdle is a cross country fun run which showcases the stunning hills and valleys of Dungog, the beautiful and historic Dungog Common. It is the key fundraiser of much-needed funds for the Dungog Shire Community Centre, the hub for all things community in the region. There is a 21 km half marathon trail run, 12km dash, 6km dawdle, Kids Dash or Dawdle (12 years and under) and a Doggy Half. A member of the Association of International Marathons & Road Races (AIMS), the 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon and Community Running Festival is one of the most-loved running festivals in Australia. Since its inception the 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon has raised over $1.3 million for charity and community groups. Located on the stunning Sunshine Coast, Queensland an hour's drive north of Brisbane this not-for-profit event has been timed to make the most of the ideal Queensland winter running conditions. Blue skies, low humidity and mild temperatures combined with a flat course always enable fast times. The course record currently stands at 2:18:30 set by Ethiopian, Samuel Woldemanuel in 2015. Event distances include the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km, 5km and the 2km. Standard distance 28.7k has been running for 11 yrs and the inaugural Ultra Distance 57.4k was incorporated into the event weekend in 2016. It was cancelled in 2017 due to cyclone damage. The course travels through the Conway National Park rainforest, ending up at the Airlie Beach Lagoon. Total entries are capped at 200. Short, fast and fun, and suitable for anyone and everyone with a real sense of adventure, the Maximum Adventure Race Series is designed to offer the perfect introduction to the exhilarating sport of adventure racing. Designed for teams of two, the races are fun, fast and furious with teams having to change between three core disciplines several times during the event… mountain biking, trail running and kayaking. These non-stop events will take between two to six hours to complete so there is never any time to get bored or tired – you will constantly be challenged throughout the race, physically and mentally! The Classic Course consists of 15-25km of mountain biking, 5-10km of trail running and 2-4km of kayaking. The Novice Course consists of 5-15km of mountain biking, 3-5km of trail running and 1-2km of kayaking. Note: There are multiple legs of each discipline, which add up to the distances quoted. Each event will require some basic navigation skills, although if you can read a street directory, you will be able to complete the course! This point-to-point race is incorporated in the Mowbray National Park within the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. It starts just off Kennedy Highway in Kuranda and follows Black Mountain Road through native rainforest, open eucalyptus forest, pine plantations and over picturesque creeks. Run the 64km individually, or get a team of 2-4 members and share the load. The finish is on Four Mile Beach, Port Douglas. The tropical rainforest is home to the endangered southern cassowary, a flightless bird that can grow to two metres in height - you might see one! Early Bird entries end on 31 May. The Sri Chinmoy Sydney Series for 2018 continues with one of the most beautiful courses you will find anywhere: the secluded haven of Mirambeena Regional Reserve in Georges Hall, with options of 16km, 8km and 2 miles (3.2km). This challenging and satisfying course wends its way through natural bushland adjoining Prospect Creek and the Georges River, with a few decent hills for good measure. We hope you enjoy your morning. The Beachside Dash presented by St.George Bank is back on Sunday 9th September 2018. The Dash offers something for everyone with 10km, 5km and 2km events. You can double or triple up and knock over up to 17km before lunch. The Dash course follows the beautiful beachside footpath from Dolls Point to Kyeemagh, near Brighton-Le-Sands, Sydney. An entirely flat race, making it ideal for setting that personal best time. Register in advance to avoid disappointment. Short, fast and fun, and suitable for anyone and everyone with a real sense of adventure, the Maximum Adventure Race Series is designed to offer the perfect introduction to the exhilarating sport of adventure racing. Designed for teams of two, the races are fun, fast and furious with teams having to change between three core disciplines several times during the event… mountain biking, trail running and kayaking. These non-stop events will take between two to six hours to complete so there is never any time to get bored or tired – you will constantly be challenged throughout the race, physically and mentally! The Classic Course consists of 15-25km of mountain biking, 5-10km of trail running and 2-4km of kayaking. The Novice Course consists of 5-15km of mountain biking, 3-5km of trail running and 1-2km of kayaking. Note: There are multiple legs of each discipline, which add up to the distances quoted. Each event will require some basic navigation skills, although if you can read a street directory, you will be able to complete the course! The Lions Mountain View Challenge on Sunday 14 October 2018 includes several walking and running events, with the route overlooking the majestic Glass House Mountains in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. The Maleny Blackall Range Lions Club stage this event in Spring each year in order to raise funds for medical research and to provide keen runners the opportunity to compete on a challenging but scenic circuit. Yes, a marathon can be fun! The inaugural Sri Chinmoy Mara-Fun Relays in Centennial Park, Sydney will be staged on Sunday 21 October in 2018. Runners cover the full 42.2km marathon distance solo – or in relay teams of 4. Enjoy the thrill of completing the marathon with family, friends or colleagues. Both the Solo Marathon and Relay Mara-Fun will commence at 7am, with Registration (number and baton collection) from 6am to 6.45am alongside the McKay Sportsground, near the Robertson Rd Gates.
