A member of the Association of International Marathons & Road Races (AIMS), the 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon and Community Running Festival is one of the most-loved running festivals in Australia. Since its inception the 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon has raised over $1.3 million for charity and community groups. Located on the stunning Sunshine Coast, Queensland an hour's drive north of Brisbane this not-for-profit event has been timed to make the most of the ideal Queensland winter running conditions. Blue skies, low humidity and mild temperatures combined with a flat course always enable fast times. The course record currently stands at 2:18:30 set by Ethiopian, Samuel Woldemanuel in 2015. Event distances include the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km, 5km and the 2km. Each road race follows the stunning coastline of Alexandra Headlands with white sandy beaches and spectacular vantage points alongside the ocean. The Half Marathon is a one loop course with Marathon entrants completing a multi loop course (1 x 21km + 2 x 10.5kms) making the most of the on-course entertainment and crowds of spectators before a red carpet -hero- finish. With a distance to suit every ability and age group, this community-focused, world-class athletic event caters to all those wanting to take part, including families and those with both physical and intellectual disabilities. The 2km event allows parents with prams and wheelchair entrants to take part and enjoy the festival atmosphere. Long standing regional event catering for all. With an IAAF accredited Half Marathon (21.1km)course, a 10.5km Fun Run and 4km Kids Scamper. This is a charity Fun Run with proceeds going to research and practical programs for youth mental health. There is a 2km walk and a 5km run. Held in the rural hamlet of Wamboin, just 20 km east of Canberra, the Kowen Moonlighter offers a choice of five races on a 7.5 km loop comprising 2.6 km of bitumen, 1.4 km of dirt road and 3.5 km of single track in native forest. The 12 hour solo ultra-marathon where individuals will run a 7.5 km loop from 6:00 pm Saturday until 6:00 am Sunday. The 12 hour relay ultra-marathon where teams of two to four runners tackle the entire 12 hours. This charity fun run, organised by Illawong Revesby Workers Athletics, will prove popular for regular runners and others happy to have a go and contribute to charity. This run will start at Marco Reserve, Panania, and take the runners, and walkers, around the adjacent Kelso sports areas. Two distances are available, a 3km and an 8km run. The Beachside Dash presented by St.George Bank is back on Sunday 9th September 2018. The Dash offers something for everyone with 10km, 5km and 2km events. You can double or triple up and knock over up to 17km before lunch. The Dash course follows the beautiful beachside footpath from Dolls Point to Kyeemagh, near Brighton-Le-Sands, Sydney. Short, fast and fun, and suitable for anyone and everyone with a real sense of adventure, the Maximum Adventure Race Series is designed to offer the perfect introduction to the exhilarating sport of adventure racing. Designed for teams of two, the races are fun, fast and furious with teams having to change between three core disciplines several times during the event… mountain biking, trail running and kayaking. These non-stop events will take between two to six hours to complete so there is never any time to get bored or tired – you will constantly be challenged throughout the race, physically and mentally! The Classic Course consists of 15-25km of mountain biking, 5-10km of trail running and 2-4km of kayaking. The Novice Course consists of 5-15km of mountain biking, 3-5km of trail running and 1-2km of kayaking. Note: There are multiple legs of each discipline, which add up to the distances quoted. Each event will require some basic navigation skills, although if you can read a street directory, you will be able to complete the course! Ragnar Trail, is a one-of-a-kind overnight relay race for teams of eight friends (or four ultra-running friends). Teammates alternate running three uniquely beautiful trail loops until each person has completed the three trails which total approximately 24 kilometers. When you're not soaking up Mother Nature on the trails, you'll be camping overnight at Ragnar Village where you can expect food, s'mores, bonfires, entertainment and a nonstop festival atmosphere. The goal of Ragnar is to conquer something hard while playing even harder. So gather seven up-for-anything friends and pack your running shoes, tent, twinkle lights and maybe even a tutu and find your inner WILD at the Ragnar Trail Glenworth Valley-SYD. The Dinner Plain Mile High Trail Run is set in the picturesque alpine village of Dinner Plain, at 1569 m. The Alpine Challenge is without doubt the toughest, most challenging, most spectacular and rewarding all mountain trail run in Australia � if not the southern hemisphere over four distances. Imagine completing 4 marathons in 42 hours; that is the challenge you could face if you decide to enter the Alpine Challenge 100mile event. The 12th Falls Creek Alpine Challenge Ultra Marathon, covers four distances 160/100/60/36km. With over 7,600 meters of climb and descent, this event is the classic 100 mile alpine trail run in Australia; testing runners to the limit. It also offers one of the country�s most scenic and challenging 100 km runs covering over 4,000m of ascent and descent. Our "mid easy" run option,60km covers 2,000m of ascent and descent and our "easy" run is a mere 36km including 1,300m of ascent - a great intro to long distance alpine running. The GC50 Run Festival on Sunday, 9 December 2018 has 50km, 30km, 15km and 5km races and a 2x25km relay in Broadbeach, Queensland. The 50km is from Kurrawa to Coolangatta and back; the 30km from Kurrawa to Currumbin and back; the 15km from Kurrawa to Burleigh and back; and the 5 km along Hedges Avenue to Seaside Avenue and return. The run course is on either footpath or roadway, not on the beach. This is one of a handful of officially accredited AIMS-IAAF certified 50 km road races in Australia. We arent looking for big profits, but we are unashamedly looking to draw people to Wangaratta to enjoy the beautiful path networks and environmental surrounds of our thriving rural city.
