The Sri Chinmoy Sydney Series goes bush, to the sublime Royal National Park south of the city. Immerse yourself in pristine forest on a lovely trail run. Because you’ll want to enjoy this magical realm to the max, a full MARATHON joins the Half-Marathon, 10km and 5km for a full suite of classic distances. Parking is near Willow Tree Flat, past Audley. National Park admission fee of $12 per vehicle applies. Alternatively, take our shuttle van from Loftus Station for $10 return, departing regularly from 6.30am. Sat-Sun 26-27 May MAXIMUM ADVENTURE RACE SERIES - ROYAL NATIONAL PARK
Short, fast and fun, and suitable for anyone and everyone with a real sense of adventure, the Maximum Adventure Race Series is designed to offer the perfect introduction to the exhilarating sport of adventure racing. Designed for teams of two, the races are fun, fast and furious with teams having to change between three core disciplines several times during the event… mountain biking, trail running and kayaking. These non-stop events will take between two to six hours to complete so there is never any time to get bored or tired – you will constantly be challenged throughout the race, physically and mentally! The Classic Course consists of 15-25km of mountain biking, 5-10km of trail running and 2-4km of kayaking. The Novice Course consists of 5-15km of mountain biking, 3-5km of trail running and 1-2km of kayaking. Note: There are multiple legs of each discipline, which add up to the distances quoted. Each event will require some basic navigation skills, although if you can read a street directory, you will be able to complete the course! Sun 27 May YMCA OF CANBERRA HALF MARATHON 2018 (ACT)
The YMCA of Canberra 2018 Half Marathon features a beautiful and fast course around the western basin of Lake Burley Griffin in the heart of Canberra. The weekend will fall on May 26-27 (with the half marathon on the Sunday). This race has been a major annual event in the calendars of YCRC members and other local and interstate runners and the tradition continues. Sun 17 Jun KOWEN TRAIL RUN
Located in the rural hamlet of Wamboin, just 20 km east of Canberra, the Kowen Trail Run will see competitors run across the border into Kowen Forest in the ACT to participate in either a marathon, half marathon or 12 km course. The event is open to all levels of trail running experience. The courses are challenging, well marked and have spectacular views of Canberra and surrounds. The Elephant Trail Race is from Saturday, 21 July to Sunday, 22 July 2018 at the Cairncross State Forest in Port Macquarie, NSW. The event follows a 25km course, with approximately 1100m elevation per lap (100km has approximately 4500m). Saturday has the 100km course, being 2 laps in one direction and 2 laps in reverse; and the 50km course, 2 laps in one direction. Sunday has 25km, 13km and kids trail races. The 100km can also be run as a relay team of two people, each running 1 lap in each direction. Just one month before the Spring classics, the Sydney Harbour 10k provides the perfect opportunity to check your preparation for a half marathon or marathon, or to go for a PB. Starting at the historic Sydney Rocks area, the 10k course is a one lap loop which hugs the Harbour foreshore to ensure spectacular views throughout. The 5k takes in some of Sydney's most beautiful sights. Sun 5 Aug DUNGOG DASH & DAWDLE
The Dungog Dash and Dawdle is a cross country fun run which showcases the stunning hills and valleys of Dungog, the beautiful and historic Dungog Common. It is the key fundraiser of much-needed funds for the Dungog Shire Community Centre, the hub for all things community in the region. There is a 21 km half marathon trail run, 12km dash, 6km dawdle, Kids Dash or Dawdle (12 years and under) and a Doggy Half. Fri-Sun 17-19 Aug THE 7 SUNSHINE COAST MARATHON (QLD)
A member of the Association of International Marathons & Road Races (AIMS), the 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon and Community Running Festival is one of the most-loved running festivals in Australia. Since its inception the 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon has raised over $1.3 million for charity and community groups. Located on the stunning Sunshine Coast, Queensland an hour's drive north of Brisbane this not-for-profit event has been timed to make the most of the ideal Queensland winter running conditions. Blue skies, low humidity and mild temperatures combined with a flat course always enable fast times. The course record currently stands at 2:18:30 set by Ethiopian, Samuel Woldemanuel in 2015. Event distances include the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km, 5km and the 2km. Each road race follows the stunning coastline of Alexandra Headlands with white sandy beaches and spectacular vantage points alongside the ocean. The Half Marathon is a one loop course with Marathon entrants completing a multi loop course (1 x 21km + 2 x 10.5kms) making the most of the on-course entertainment and crowds of spectators before a red carpet -hero- finish. With a distance to suit every ability and age group, this community-focused, world-class athletic event caters to all those wanting to take part, including families and those with both physical and intellectual disabilities. This charity fun run, organised by Illawong Revesby Workers Athletics, will prove popular for regular runners and others happy to have a go and contribute to charity. This run will start at Marco Reserve, Panania, and take the runners, and walkers, around the adjacent Kelso sports areas. Two distances are available, a 3km and an 8km run. Prizes will be awarded in junior categories for the 3km run (up to 13, and 14-17) and in the 8km race there are prizes for up to 34 years, and 35 years plus. The Beachside Dash presented by St.George Bank is back on Sunday 9th September 2018. The Dash offers something for everyone with 10km, 5km and 2km events. You can double or triple up and knock over up to 17km before lunch. The Dash course follows the beautiful beachside footpath from Dolls Point to Kyeemagh, near Brighton-Le-Sands, Sydney. An entirely flat race, making it ideal for setting that personal best time. Register in advance to avoid disappointment. Ragnar Trail, is a one-of-a-kind overnight relay race for teams of eight friends (or four ultra-running friends). Teammates alternate running three uniquely beautiful trail loops until each person has completed the three trails which total approximately 24 kilometers. When you're not soaking up Mother Nature on the trails, you'll be camping overnight at Ragnar Village where you can expect food, s'mores, bonfires, entertainment and a nonstop festival atmosphere. The goal of Ragnar is to conquer something hard while playing even harder.
