The 35th Anniversary of the Lake Macquarie Running Festival will be convened on Sunday 25 August 2019. With in excess of 2,000 participants joining in the community event by completing the Half Marathon, 10.5km Fun Run or 4km Kids Scamper. The event follows the scenic shores of Lake Macquarie between Warners Bay and Speers Point (Hunter Region less then 90 mins North of Sydney). The Coastal Classic is a 30km trail run along one of the most stunning tracks in Australia, it has everything to offer from rocky terrain, sand running and beaches, to cliff-tops, bushland, rainforest and steep hill inclines. The scenery is spectacular with breathtaking coastal views on the beach and from the cliff tops. You literally feel like you are a million miles from anywhere. Set amid one of Australia’s oldest and wildest coastal terrains, in fact it is the world’s second oldest national park (after Yellowstone in the U.S), the Coastal Classic is a trail run along the Coast Track from Otford to Bundeena. With 29km of trails, beaches, sand and rainforest – this race has a little bit of everything with great views to top it off! Kowen Moonlighter event lets runners experience trail running at night. With 7 different events to choose from there is something for everyone from beginner trail runners to experienced ultra runners. The events utilise a 7.55km loop with short events Saturday evening (single 7.55km, double 15.10km or triple 22.65km loops) or for the more serious runners a 6 or 12 hour ultra run with either solo or relay teams going overnight. Described as one of the most scenic and spectacular courses in Australia, the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival attracts around 33,000 participants annually. In 2013 the Blackmores Sydney Marathon was the first Australian marathon to be broadcast live in 23 years. The Hounslow Classic is a 68km Ultra SkyMarathon and 21km SkyRace in the Blue Mountains of NSW from Saturday, 28 September to Sunday, 29 September 2019. The event is sanctioned by the International SkyRunning Federation. Registration opens at 9am, May 1st, 2019 for Foundation Members, and at 9am, May 8th for open registration. Starting in the picturesque township of Blackheath, one of the highest villages in the Blue Mountains - the Hounslow Classic Ultra takes runners of a tour of the Grose Valley past environmental icons such as Blue Gum Forest, Pulpit Rock, Junction Rock and Lockley Pylon. Not to mention the amazing Grand Canyon. Emerging as one of the must do events on the Sunshine Coast the Maleny RunFest (Mountain View Challenge) will be held this year on 13th October incorporating our signature event the Remax Hinterland half marathon. Elite runners enter this race to test themselves and to truly hone their fitness before taking on other challenges but most who enter are ordinary everyday people who just love running. Runners in this event can look forward to a few slightly challenging gradients which will test their stamina.. The course leaves the Maleny Showgrounds travelling to Mountain View Road encompassing one of the hinterland's most picturesque routes past Mary Cairn Cross Park with views of the Glass House Mountains.
