Sun 20 Aug 16KM BUMP TO BEACH, PORT DOUGLAS (QLD)
This 16 kilometre point-to-point race is incorporated in the Mowbray National Park within the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. It starts at the top of the Bump on Black Mountain Road close to Jullaten and travels through native rainforest and over picturesque creeks. The finish is on Four Mile Beach, Port Douglas. The tropical rainforest is home to the endangered southern cassowary, a flightless bird that can grow to two metres in height - you might see one! Located on the stunning Sunshine Coast, Queensland near the barrier reef and Steve Irwin's iconic Australia Zoo, this not-for-profit event has been timed to make the most of the ideal Queensland winter running conditions. Blue skies, low humidity and mild temperatures - combined with a flat course always enable fast times. The course record currently stands at 2:18:30 set by Ethiopian, Samuel Woldemanuel in 2015. Event distances include the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km, 5km and the 2km. Each road race follows the stunning coastline of Alexandra Headlands with white sandy beaches and spectacular vantage points alongside the ocean. The Half Marathon is a one loop course with Marathon entrants completing a multi loop course (1 x 21km + 2 x 10.5km) making the most of the on-course entertainment and crowds of spectators before a red carpet 'hero' finish. With a distance to suit every ability and age group, this community-focused, world-class athletic event caters to all those wanting to take part, including families and those with both physical and intellectual disabilities. The 2km event allows parents with prams and wheelchair entrants to take part and enjoy the festival atmosphere. On Sunday August 27 this year, the iconic Pub2Pub Charity Fun Run and Festival celebrates its 25th year of raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for worthy local charities on Sydney's Northern Beaches. Money raised is donated to organisations including Bear Cottage, the Children's Cancer Institute, Manly and Mona Vale Hospitals, Life Education Australia and White Ribbon Australia. Organised by the Rotary Club of Brookvale, the event now has three course options, catering for everyone from serious runners to families - 13km from Dee Why Surf Lifesaving Club to Newport Surf Lifesaving Club; 6km from Warriewood to Newport; and 3km from Mona Vale to Newport. This is Undoubtedly Sydney's most scenic fun run, taking in many of the spectacularly beautiful Northern Beaches. A glorious weekend of running in a remote community situated in the wild Bass Strait. There is a timed 5km scenic run in coastal bush on the Friday, the famous 26km Pub2Pub (on the road) or its newer cousin, the Pub2Pub marathon which takes in some beautiful bushland. Both of these are held on Saturday whilst to finish the weekend off in style on Sunday there is a 5km road race on a fast course. The Ross Marathons started in 2004 as the "Festival of Marathons", a series of athletic events aimed at fostering community participation in physical activity and the enjoyment of a healthy lifestyle. Events include: Marathon Half Marathon 10km Run/Walk Childrens Challenge Team Marathon (max 4 runners) The marathon was dedicated to the memory of US born athlete Dean Thackwray who competed in the marathon at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics and later settled in Tasmania. Thackwray died of cancer in 2003. That first year 70 runners took part in the various events that over the years have included the full, three-quarter, half and quarter marathons, a team relay event and a fun run/walk. Today each year sees more runners coming to Ross to participate in the unique experience that it the Ross Marathons. Ross Marathons is a non-for-profit event. The Western Sydney Marathon at the Sydney International Regatta Centre has fast become Western Sydney's premier running event attracting runners from local regions, interstate and internationally. The San is the largest private and largest not-for-profit hospital in New South Wales. Each year our dedicated staff care for over 56,000 inpatients, 18,000 emergency patients and 135,000 outpatients. The San Foundation is the principal fundraising body for our hospital and generates much needed funds for essential programs, equipment and buildings by holding such events at the annual San RunforLife. ​San RunforLife competitors participate in either a 10km, 5km run or a 5km walk and the event commences at 7am on Sunday, October 15, 2017 on the Hospitals front lawn.
