Enjoy running along rolling grassy slopes and sandy beaches and striding up gentle hills located between the cliffs overlooking the Southern Ocean and rolling green fields with cattle grazing contentedly. This is definitely a run for the beginner trail runner, the road runner that is jaded and wants to get out there for great scenery and great running and just wants to be re-invigorated by the great outdoors, as well as the experienced trail runner just wanting a great run. Starting in the reserve adjacent to the caravan park, this delightful run takes in some picturesque coastline and deserted beaches on an out and back course. Sat 10 Feb BUSSELTON HALF MARATHON, 10KM & 5KM FUN RUN (WA)
The Busselton Runners Club Half Marathon & Fun Run on Saturday, 10 February 2018 is an annual run, held in February, and has grown from 200 participants in 2009, the first year, to over 1300 participants in 2017. It includes a 21.1km half marathon, 10km and 5km events. Former Olympic Marathon Runner, Steve Moneghetti, is the 2018 Ambassador for the half marathon. Steve will lead the 100mins pace train for the half (4.45mins/km) and will also hold a recovery run on the Sunday following the event. A special presentation evening with Steve on 'How to Be the Best Distance Runner You Can Be' will be held on the Friday evening prior to the event, along with a delicious buffet meal prepared especially by 'Kitchen Takeovers' Chef Tim Whitty. Based at Trial Bay Gaol, South West Rocks this event is made up of 5 legs for the juniors on Saturday afternoon starting at 12pm with a 250m run, 50m wade, 250m run for 5 year olds. 12.30pm start for a 500m run, 100m wade, 500m run for 6-7 year olds. 1pm start for a 100 swim, 3km cycle, 500 run for 8-9 year olds. 2.15pm star for a 200m swim,6km cycle, 1km run for 10-11 year olds finishing with the last race at 3.15pm with a 300m swim, 9km cycle, 2km run. Presentation for the juniors will be held at 5pm Saturday. Sunday for the seniors comprises of a 500m swim, 25km cycle, 6km run with Presentation to be held for the seniors at 11am. Short, fast and fun, and suitable for anyone and everyone with a real sense of adventure, the Maximum Adventure Race Series is designed to offer the perfect introduction to the exhilarating sport of adventure racing. Designed for teams of two, the races are fun, fast and furious with teams having to change between three core disciplines several times during the event… mountain biking, trail running and kayaking. These non-stop events will take between two to six hours to complete so there is never any time to get bored or tired – you will constantly be challenged throughout the race, physically and mentally! The Classic Course consists of 15-25km of mountain biking, 5-10km of trail running and 2-4km of kayaking. The Novice Course consists of 5-15km of mountain biking, 3-5km of trail running and 1-2km of kayaking. Note: There are multiple legs of each discipline, which add up to the distances quoted. Each event will require some basic navigation skills, although if you can read a street directory, you will be able to complete the course! The Hume Bank City2City Run Walk is an annual event aimed at promoting community health and wellbeing while being the flagship fundraising opportunity for the local cross border health service, Albury Wodonga Health. It will take place on Sunday 18 February, 2018, and will showcase the cities of Albury and Wodonga, providing participants exclusive access to roads normally off-limits to runners and pedestrians. People of all abilities can challenge themselves to either a 7.5km or 10km fun run or a 7.5km -walk & talk- with 100% of all monies raised to improve and expand health services for the people of the Albury, Wodonga and surrounding region. In just three-years, over $320,000 has been raised. Grown from humble beginnings to a major regional carnival. Participants are treated to a friendly, thriving regional community, just 2 hours from Melbourne in the Ovens and King Valley Region. The courses are flat and fast and meander along the multi-use sealed paths next to the Ovens River and One Mile Creek through urban Wangaratta. The 10km fun run/walk course incorporates a lovely section of urban trail and the both 5km & 10km also follow the shared path to a lovely park and returning along a quaint boulevard bordering the city centre. All courses are accurately measures using the IAAF standard process. The Cradle Mt Run is a one day traverse of Tasmanian’s famous Cradle Mt to Lake St Clair Overland Track. The altitude of the track in several areas of the plateau is greater than 1,000 metres, and is well above the tree line. This low tree line illustrates the exposure and harshness of conditions that can prevail even in summer. Sun 11 Mar RBC RACE FOR THE KIDS (NSW)
RBC Race for the Kids is an exciting series of fifteen charitable runs supporting children's causes in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Luxembourg, Kuala Lumpur, United Kingdom, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados and the United States. 2018 is the fourth year RBC Race for the Kids has been held in Sydney. Our goal is to raise over $100,000 for Ronald McDonald House Randwick (RMHR) and attract 1,000 runners. Funds will go towards helping RMHR make a home away from home for seriously ill children and their families and will support refurbishing an isolation unit and creating a sanctuary space at the Randwick House. The day is guaranteed to be fun for everyone who attends. We will have a live warm up before the race which will be followed by the family festival. The Great Volcanic is a 'fun run' style event where you can run or walk to the top of Mount Canobolas, near Orange. There is only one course of 11km, with a two wave start, the first at 9:00am and the second at 9:10am. While the course is naturally mostly uphill only a couple of sections are steep. From the start near Towac Pinnacle Picnic Grounds (off Pinnacle Rd) you first visit Mt Towac (that's a steep section but the views make it worth the effort) and then to Young Man Canobolas before the final climb to Mt Canobolas (also steep). 30th Geelong Half Marathon Sunday April 8, 2018 at 8:00 a.m. and 7 km run at 8:30 a.m. The Geelong Half-Marathon is a run for runners run by runners. The course along the banks of the Barwon River in Geelong is scenic and away from road traffic. This run always takes place on the first Sunday after Easter (Sunday April 8, 2018). The start is 8:00 am on the day and is easily found under the Moorabool Street Bridge in Geelong with plenty of nearby parking. There is over $3500 in prizes, additional spot prizes and medals for Half Marathon finishers. As in past years, there is a $200 bonus for anyone breaking the open records. Entry is online ONLY through our website www.gccc.asn.au or https://www.registernow.com.au . There are spot prizes of running shoes for early entries. Entries close Saturday April 7, 2018 (at MIDDAY). Adult entry is $65, Australian Health Card holders and under 18, $45. An additional feature is a 7 km run starting at 8:30am. Entry fee for this run is $30 for adults and Australian Health Card holders and under 18, $25. On-line entries are available now. Entry numbers will be capped at 1200 and a race time cut-off will apply. Cut-off is 50 minutes at 7 km and 1 hour 45 minutes at 14 km. Check our website. The Margaret River Ultra Marathon boasts 80 kilometres of magnificent trail running through one of Australia's most beautiful regions; Margaret River in south-west Western Australia. Run the Prom. Wilsons Promontory National Park offers, Australia's most spectacular coastal ultra. Experience the sound of waves crashing on rocks, feel the sand under your feet, the wind in your hair and the water up to your waist as you tackle this wilderness paradise. The Prom 100 offers runners 44, 60 and 100 km run loops only 3.5 hours from Melbourne. Experience the 13th running of one of Australia's best coastal trail runs at Victoria's spectacular Wilsons Promontory National Park. The run is all on single track, rock, fire trails and beaches offering spectacular coastal views with approximately 10 km on sealed road. Depending on tide movements it may be necessary to wade across the creeks at both Sealers Cove and Oberon Beach. The Prom 100 is a self supported run, it is not a race. Runners are fully responsible for their own safety and assume full liability for their participation. Participants should offer assistance to other runners in distress. Due to Parks Victoria regulations, no support personnel or equipment is available other than at Tidal River. This is an arduous course with constant climbs that take a cumulative toll. The run has been scheduled for Saturday 05 May with the pre race briefing taking place just prior to the start. Weather conditions could be cold, wet and windy. Hypothermia is a serious risk and all runners should be prepared. The Prom 100 run should only be attempted by experienced trail runners with good navigation experience. The run will start and finish in the dark.
