The Dynamic in a Dress Running Festival is a female-focused event that celebrates female runners, their strength and their ability to use running as a means to connect with one another. Men are welcome to join in too. The festival hosts a half marathon, 10 km and 5 km races on the Sunday and a 'Glow in the Dark' Family Fun Run on the Saturday night. The entry fee includes a 8-week training program and group training sessions for locals. Sun 23 Apr CLELAND TRAILS - SA TRAIL RUNNING CHAMPIONSHIPS (SA)
The Cleland Trails on the 23rd of April include three sub-events, measuring approximately 25km, 12 km and 6 km. The first is for runners 16 years and older only and is the championship event. The shorter sub-events are for runners and walkers of any age. Enjoy racing along the wooded slopes of Mt Lofty, with views down rugged valleys and beyond as far as the sea. The Pine Rivers Charity Fun Run is a great Moreton Bay regional event run by the Rotary Club of Pine Rivers Daybreak. The 3 Marathons in 3 Days is a staged trail race in the tropical rainforsets of Far North Queensland. It is run over three consecutive days over three different courses. This is the sixth year of the race that is held on the Atherton Tablelands. There are two other events on the same weekend and over the same course, but with varying distances. The Cairns Marathon and the Kauri Half Marathon. Early Bird entries end at 9.00pm on 3 April 2017. Late Fees apply from 22 June. Sat-Sun 5-6 Aug LAMINGTON ECO CHALLENGE
Can you do your chosen event twice? 42 kms 21 kms or 8.5 km Fara trail fun run The Lamington Eco Challenge is a trail running event featuring some tough terrain in the Scenic Rim Hinterland in South East Queensland, including four wheel drive tracks, grassy paddocks, bush and a couple of hills as well as having to negotiate creeks, gates, cattle grids and the potential wandering livestock. What makes this event very different is that it plays out over two days; you get to sleep the night in a cozy warm bed. Sun 6 Aug MCDONALD'S TOWNSVILLE RUNNING FESTIVAL
Challenge and Hero Run. Their AIMS accredited courses are fast, flat and hug the coastline as well as feature the 43rd Townsville Marathon - Australia's second oldest race. All runners experience spectacular views of the Coral Sea, Magnetic Island and the Marina as they follow their tropical blue line and vie for AUD23,000 prize money. With a predawn start marathoners experience a breath taking sunrise over Cleveland Bay as they run along Townsville's award-winning Strand Beach. Arrive early for the pre-race dinner, take in a Cowboys NRL home game and stay for the famous after-party. Treat yourself to a tropical winter getaway this August. Sun 20 Aug 64KM KURANDA TO PORT DOUGLAS ULTRA TRAIL RACE AND RELAY; 16KM BUMP TO BEACH
This 64 kilometre point-to-point race is incorporated in the Mowbray National Park within the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. Teams of 2-4 runners can also complete the full course. It starts just off Kennedy Highway in Kuranda and follows Black Mountain Road through native rainforest, open eucalyptus forest, pine plantations and over picturesque creeks. There is a shorter 16 kilometre race on the same day, starting at the top of the Bump on Black Mountain Road. The finish is on Four Mile Beach, Port Douglas. The tropical rainforest is home to the endangered southern cassowary, a flightless bird that can grow to two metres in height - you might see one! Early Bird entries end at 9.00pm on 25 May.
