Sat-Sun 19-20 Aug WAGGA TRAIL MARATHON (NSW)
A family orientated, fun filled running weekend. Events include a kids fun run, 5 Km and 10 Km on the Saturday and half marathon, marathon, marathon relay and mountain bike marathon on the Sunday. The course consists of 95% off road with single track, fire trails and bike tracks around the surrounds of the city on a section of the Wiradjuri Walking Track. All finishers receive a medal. Sun 20 Aug 64KM KURANDA TO PORT DOUGLAS ULTRA TRAIL RACE AND RELAY; 16KM BUMP TO BEACH
This 64 kilometre point-to-point race is incorporated in the Mowbray National Park within the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. Teams of 2-4 runners can also complete the full course. It starts just off Kennedy Highway in Kuranda and follows Black Mountain Road through native rainforest, open eucalyptus forest, pine plantations and over picturesque creeks. There is a shorter 16 kilometre race on the same day, starting at the top of the Bump on Black Mountain Road. The finish is on Four Mile Beach, Port Douglas. The tropical rainforest is home to the endangered southern cassowary, a flightless bird that can grow to two metres in height - you might see one! Early Bird entries end at 9.00pm on 25 May. This 16 kilometre point-to-point race is incorporated in the Mowbray National Park within the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. Sun 20 Aug 7 SUNSHINE COAST MARATHON
Located on the stunning Sunshine Coast, Queensland near the barrier reef and Steve Irwin's iconic Australia Zoo, this not-for-profit event has been timed to make the most of the ideal Queensland winter running conditions. Blue skies, low humidity and mild temperatures - combined with a flat course always enable fast times. The course record currently stands at 2:18:30 set by Ethiopian, Samuel Woldemanuel in 2015. Event distances include the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km, 5km and the 2km. Each road race follows the stunning coastline of Alexandra Headlands with white sandy beaches and spectacular vantage points alongside the ocean. The Half Marathon is a one loop course with Marathon entrants completing a multi loop course (1 x 21km + 2 x 10.5km) making the most of the on-course entertainment and crowds of spectators before a red carpet 'hero' finish. With a distance to suit every ability and age group, this community-focused, world-class athletic event caters to all those wanting to take part, including families and those with both physical and intellectual disabilities. The 2km event allows parents with prams and wheelchair entrants to take part and enjoy the festival atmosphere. Sat 7 Oct HOUNSLOW CLASSIC - 68KM ULTRA SKYMARATHON (NSW)
68km through the coveted trails in the Grose Valley, Blue Mountains. Runners start at the amazing private Allview Escapes property and make their way through 68km of tough and challenging single trail taking in the Grand Canyon, Blue Gum Forrest, Perrys Lookdown and Lockleys Pylon. Sat-Sun 14-15 Oct HUME & HOVELL ULTRA (NSW)
100 Mile, 100 Km, 50 Km and 22 Km Run/Walk on a section of the historic Hume and Hovell Walking Track. Start/Finish at Henry Angel Trackhead, 9 Km south of Tumbarumba on the Tooma road. The course is a mixture of constructed walking track, 90% single trail and the rest is fire trails. Drop bags, electronic timing, medals and certificates for all finishers. Generous cut off times to encourage people to come out an enjoy the area. Elevation of 4088 metres with varying degrees of difficulty, beautiful scenery, dams, waterfalls, gold mining relics and wild brumbies. Sun 15 Oct LIONS CLUB MOUNTAIN VIEW CHALLENGE
The event covers a half marathon (1st Prize $300 male and female, 2nd Prize $150 male and female), 10,000 m run (1st Prize $150 male and female, 2nd Prize $75 male and female), 5,000 m run (1st Prize $50 male and female and 2nd prize $20 male and female), 3,000 m run (Primary School Age Children - trophies). The half marathon route and 10,000 m runs follows the road overlooking the Glasshouse Mountains with all events start and finish from the Maleny Showgrounds on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Fri-Sun 17-19 Nov GREAT SOUTHERN ENDURANCE RUN - 100 MILER - TEAMS (VIC)
A 100 mile endurance run like no other in the southern hemisphere. Starting in the ski township of Mt Buller, just 2.5hrs drive from Melbourne International Airport and with a downhill start � the Great Southern Endurance Run takes on the rugged and picturesque mountains and trails throughout the Victorian Alps. Runners climb over 9400m and descent 10,600m in their quest to get to the finish line in the picturesque township of Bright, Victoria. This event has been designed to be the gem of 100 miler events in the southern hemisphere. The point to point journey is epic, the trails are predominantly single trail and the historical Australian Alps Walking Trail is used for parts of the course. The grit and determination it will take participants to finish will be nothing short of extraordinary. The experience along the way � priceless.
