Muscular Dystrophy Australia Run for Strength 2019 is set to be the biggest yet, with thousands of Melburnians and interstate participants gearing up to run and walk in support of those who can't. The superhero themed fun run is open to all ages and abilities, with many members of the MD community taking part. You can choose from either a 10km run or a 5km run or walk To stick with the superhero theme, you can come dressed in your favourite costume or purchase a MDA Superhero Cape. |Sat||23 Feb||ROLLER COASTER RUN 2019
Established in 2012 by Rohan Day from Big Long Run, and now managed by Mountain Sports The Roller Coaster Run has grown to a sellout crowd in 2015 and beyond. The event starts and finishes at the picturesque SkyHigh Mount Dandenong and runners are treated to a journey through the Dandenong Ranges National Park. The race course is a 21.5km loop and runners taking up the 43km challenge do a second reverse loop before once again finishing at SkyHigh Mount Dandenong. In 2017, Mountain Sports added a 10k option which has been extremely popular. The Wangaratta Marathon and Fun Runs is bought to you by Justin and Sharon Scholz of Wangaratta Fitness Fun Addicts. The event motto says it all - "More people moving more often". Entry prices for this event are much less than their counterparts and we take pride in that. We arent looking for big profits, but we are unashamedly looking to draw people to Wangaratta to enjoy the beautiful path networks and environmental surrounds of our thriving rural city. We secretly hope that we can encourage people to engage more in physical happiness and become more active than they were before joining our event. We measure success on entry numbers, total distance covered by entrants and return entries in future years. The Mount Baw Baw Trail Fest is set in the picturesque alpine village of Mount Baw Baw in the Victorian Alps and offers great Alpine running over 2 days. The courses offered provide a range of run distances (1/4/7/15/21/36/44km) for entry level runners right up to the more experienced trail runner, offering opportunities for mum, dad and the kids to get out and get a feel for this pristine alpine environment. Short course distances of 1/4/7 km on the Sunday are great for the kids and those just wanting to stretch their legs along scenic walking trails. For the more experienced, the 15 km, 21 km, 36 km and 44 km courses take in more challenging and historic runs through the Baw Baw National Park to Mt St Gwinear and Mushroom Rocks. This classic Alpine run offers three challenging distances in some of the most spectacular country in Victoria�s Alpine National Park. Razorback Ridge/High Plains Run. The 64 km Razorback Ridge run takes in the entire length of the Razorback to offer some of the most stunning ridge running and scenery in the Australian Alps 64 km of pure Alpine pleasure and pain with stunning scenery. Possibly the most stunning and spectacular run of its kind in Victoria - a must for the hardened runner. Razorback Circuit�40 km, a great run up Bungalow Spur, to the summit of Mt Feathertop, Victoria�s second highest mountain and Australia�s only true alpine peak then across the Razorback and down Bon Accord Spur. Neverest is a uniquely challenging, uniquely accessible test of endurance. Register as a team or do it solo � your mission is to run or hike laps of a hill until your total vertical ascent is over 8,848m, the height of Mt Everest above sea-level. You may participate as a solo starting on the Friday at 6 pm and finishing on Saturday or as part of a team covering the distance together or in relay, starting on the Saturday morning. The inaugural takayna Ultra is a 70km ultramarathon fundraising event in North West Tassie to help the Bob Brown Foundation save takayna/Tarkine from logging and mining and to gain global support in nominating takayna/Tarkine as a World Heritage area. The takayna Ultra takes place on April 5th 2019 will traverse grass plains, amazing sands tracks along rugged, wild coastlines and bush tracks. The Buffalo Stampede from Friday, 12 April to Sunday, 14 April 2019 is part of the internationally prestigious Skyrunning brand that attracts top athletes to the top of the world, where earth and sky meet. The Buffalo Stampede is such a special event with spectators coming in from the township to cheers runners on as they climb the surrounding hills and mountains. 31st Geelong Half Marathon Sunday April 14 2019 at 7:30 a.m. and 7 km run at 8:00 a.m. Note: NEW TIME and DATE. Entries open Mid November The Geelong Half-Marathon is an event for runners organised by runners. The course along the banks of the Barwon River in Geelong is scenic and away from road traffic. This run has a NEW DATE AND TIME, and will take place on SUNDAY APRIL 14, 2019. The start is 7:30 am on the day and is easily found under the Moorabool Street Bridge in Geelong with plenty of nearby parking. There is over $3500 in prizes as well as additional spot prizes. As in past years, there is a $200 bonus for anyone breaking the open records. Entry is online ONLY through our website www.gccc.asn.au or https://www.registernow.com.au . There are spot prizes of running shoes for early entries. Entries close Saturday April 13, 2019 (at 4:00pm). Adult entry is $66, Australian Health Card holders and under 18, $46. Medallions to finishers. An additional feature is a 7 km run starting at 8:00am. Entry fee for this run is $36 for adults; Australian Health Card holders and under 18, $26. �Keep Cups� to finishers. Online entries open mid-November. Entry numbers will be capped at 1000 and a race time cut-off will apply. Cut-off is 50 minutes at 7 km and 1 hour 45 minutes at 14 km. Check our website. The Geelong Cross Country conducts this run with volunteers and a minimum of professional help so our donations to charity are maximised. This year we hope to raise $10,000 for the Andrew Love Cancer Centre and to make a further donation of around $1000 to Relay For Life.
