In a break from traditional school sports where teachers are barracking from the sidelines, the Junior Kokoda Challenge Melbourne Event requires teachers to join as a member of the five person team to compete. Whilst training for and during the event, students are both physically and emotionally fatigued and their leaders must develop new strategies to motivate and keep their group going. But there is nothing to beat the feeling of satisfaction that comes from setting a goal and achieving that goal against all odds. For those students who get the trekking bug, they can compete in the Kokoda Challenge Stan Bisset Cup, a 96km school-based endurance team event held every July on the Gold Coast. The Melbourne Kokoda Challenge is the main fundraiser for the Melbourne branch of The Kokoda Youth Foundation's 'On the Right Track' Youth Program for Melbourne teenagers. https://www.facebook.com/Kokoda.Challenge.Association contact: Kokoda Youth Foundation (07) 5539 4141. . email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
