|Sat||6 Oct||THE TRAIL RUNNING SERIES PRESENTED BY THE NORTH FACE, RACE 5 NIGHT RACE, KEW
The Trail Running Series presented by The North Face takes your running off-road with a series of popular races at breath-taking wilderness locations within a 1hr drive from Melbourne. Each of the five events in The Series includes a short, medium and long course race that gives you plenty of carefree, smile-inducing running through some magnificent natural landscapes. You will run through valleys lined with tree ferns, weave through towering gum trees and sweep along flowing trails beside rivers, creeks, beaches and lookouts. The Race 5 night race returns in 2018 as the finale! A fantastic night race around the Yarra Trails race in Kew followed by a massive post event party at Yarra Bend Park immediately afterwards. In addition to the NEW location for the Series celebrations of Yarra Bend Park will be the event landing on a Saturday night! This is an INCREDIBLE RACE EXPERIENCE as all runners light up the trail with your own (head) torch and weave along the flowing, non-technical trails in a long line of light. When: Saturday 6th October 2018. Where: Yarra Bend Park, Kew (exact oval location to be announced shortly) What: Long Course: 15km Medium Course: 10.8km Short Course: 5km This unique trail running event was the first of its kind in Australia in 2016 with the entire race being held after dark � making it an incredible race experience for everyone. The courses will be the exact same as those used in Race 1 at Studley Park in previous years giving you some familiarity but you will be amazed at just how different they feel when you�re vision is restricted to the cone of light emanating from the front of your torch. We�re sure you�ll find it to be a great experience and a suitable finale to another great series. The short, medium and long course races will be conducted in the same way as at the other race locations with a single mass start for each distance, but all runners will be carrying a torch allowing you to follow the trails and the reflective course markings. The courses remain the same as 2016 (and as raced in the original race 1 at Studley Park) so all returning runners will be familiar with the trail, challenges and rewards; whilst also giving peace of mind and comfort for those new to night running. There is a great sense of unity in night running! |Sat||10 Nov||A2 MILK� UPSTREAM CHALLENGE
The Upstream Challenge on Saturday, 10 November 2018 is a charity solo or team walk/run along the Yarra River in Melbourne, Victoria. There is no registration fee to enter this event; each participant instead pledges raise $200 in donations for one of the five beneficiaries, or split it evenly between the three. 100% of donations are delivered to the charities. The Arthurs Seat Challenge is a 6.7km run/walk held annually since 2002 to promote the profile of the Fit to Drive program and to raise funds to enable the continuation of this invaluable program, which is currently provided to Frankston and Mornington schools free of charge. The Dinner Plain Mile High Trail Run is set in the picturesque alpine village of Dinner Plain, at 1569 m. The 5 courses(1/5/10/21/32km)offer a great run for entry level runners to the more experienced trail runner, offering opportunities for mum, dad and the kids to get out and experience this pristine alpine environment. Short course distance of 1/5km and 10km are great for the kids and those just wanting to stretch their legs following scenic walking trails. For the more experienced, the 21/32 km courses take in more challenging and historic runs through the Alpine National Park. Soak up the pristine alpine environment and challenge yourself to run at an altitude above 1600 metres (one mile) and join the Dinner Plain Mile High club. �The alps offer a different environment for runners, not only is the air thinner at a mile high but the water is fresher and temperatures cooler. �Runners will certainly have to work a bit harder to join the mile high club�. The Alpine Challenge is without doubt the toughest, most challenging, most spectacular and rewarding all mountain trail run in Australia � if not the southern hemisphere over four distances. Imagine completing 4 marathons in 42 hours; that is the challenge you could face if you decide to enter the Alpine Challenge 100mile event. The 12th Falls Creek Alpine Challenge Ultra Marathon, covers four distances 160/100/60/36km. With over 7,600 meters of climb and descent, this event is the classic 100 mile alpine trail run in Australia; testing runners to the limit. It also offers one of the country�s most scenic and challenging 100 km runs covering over 4,000m of ascent and descent. Our "mid easy" run option,60km covers 2,000m of ascent and descent and our "easy" run is a mere 36km including 1,300m of ascent - a great intro to long distance alpine running. All the four distances offer participants the opportunity to compete as: a solo runner, a team completing the entire course together or a relay team with runners completing individual legs either on their own or with other team members � this is the real fun event! The GC50 Run Festival on Sunday, 9 December 2018 has 50km, 30km, 15km and 5km races and a 2x25km relay in Broadbeach, Queensland. The 50km is from Kurrawa to Coolangatta and back; the 30km from Kurrawa to Currumbin and back; the 15km from Kurrawa to Burleigh and back; and the 5 km along Hedges Avenue to Seaside Avenue and return. The run course is on either footpath or roadway, not on the beach. This is one of a handful of officially accredited AIMS-IAAF certified 50 km road races in Australia. The Gold Rush Trail Run on Saturday, 15 December runs from Hepburn Springs in the north following Sailors Creek via Lake Daylesford and on to spectacular Sailors Falls in the south of Victoria's restful Spa country. The run links two of the state's most famous spa retreat villages in quintessential gold mining territory, and features a highlight middle section of the Goldfields Track. Victoria�s Bass Coast offers fantastic trail running for people wanting to experience coastal trail running at its best. We arent looking for big profits, but we are unashamedly looking to draw people to Wangaratta to enjoy the beautiful path networks and environmental surrounds of our thriving rural city.
