The BSR 10km / half marathon event takes place on the Bellarine Coastal Trail between Portarlington and St Leonard's in Victoria Australia and needs to be ran (or walked) to be appreciated, it has a view of Melbourne's skyline across Port Philip Bay, the You Yangs across Corio Quay and the relaxing landcapes of an area showcasing old fashion town charm. The beauty and appeal of the Bellarine Coastal Trail is you will always be within 50m of the beach and 50m from the Esplanade it also happens to be 10.7km between the piers of Portarlington and St Leonard's meaning it is perfect for 10km/half marathon distances, it's a course everyone will get across quickly with plenty of room for overtaking those who are mesmerised by the view and the bonus is there's few hills. Women's Cancer Foundation's annual fundraising event We Can Walk it Out is on again for its 11th year, attracting runners, joggers and walkers to Melbourne's iconic Tan Track and raising vital funds for gynaecological (primarily ovarian) cancer research. Choose to run or walk 4km or run 8km around King's Domain and the Botanic Gardens, and help turn the Tan teal during Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. |Sun||13 Mar||BLACK BULL HALF MARATHON
The running of the Black Bull half marathon is part of the 2016 Murray Quad, which is a Quadrathlon (Triathlon plus a paddle) event that starts at the Yarrawonga Rowing club with a swim on Lake Mulwala, then a run around Yarrawonga, the chainman's island nature reserve and silverwood golf and lifestyle resort, a bike ride from Yarrawonga to Cobram via Wilby, Tungamaha and Katamatite and finally finishes a paddle on the Murray River to Tocumwal. To encourage more people to enter in 2016 event we are introducing single events for each of the four disciplines run at the same time as the Murray Quad. The Running of the Black Bull Half Marathon is a unique event that will include a loop around the exquisitely landscaped Black Bull golf course which is wrapped around the waters of Lake Mulwala. The run will start at around 8am just before the first swimmer from the Murray Quad event exits the water. Entry is via the website or the day before at the Murray Quad registration desk located at the Yarrawonga Rowing Club Results will be timed based and opened to all participants including those athletes competing in the Full distance and relay events of the Murray Quad. Over the second weekend in March, on an island midway between Victoria and mainland Tasmania, you will find one of the most unique running events in the country, the King Island Imperial 20. The event is now in its 23rd year. The King Island Imperial 20 has an event for everyone. The main feature is a challenging 32 kilometre footrace which is the only coast to coast race in Australia. 28th Geelong Half Marathon & 7.3 km run Sunday April 3, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. The Geelong Half-Marathon is a popular and professionally run event with over 1000 entries last year. The course along the banks of the Barwon River in Geelong is flat, scenic and away from road traffic. This run always takes place on the first Sunday after Easter (Sunday April 3, 2016). The start is 8:00 am on the day and is easily found under the Moorabool Street Bridge in Geelong with plenty of nearby parking. There is over $3500 in prizes as well as additional spot prizes. As in past years, there is a $200 bonus for anyone breaking the open records. Entry is online ONLY through our website www.gccc.asn.au There are spot prizes of running shoes and Garmin Sports Watches for early entries. Entries close Saturday April 2, 2016. Adult entry is $55, concession $40. An additional feature is a 7.3 km run also starting at 8:00 am. Cost for this is $25 and $20 concession. On-line entries are available now. Entry numbers will be capped at 1200 and a race time cut-off will apply. Cut-off is 50 minutes at 7 km and 1 hour 45 minutes at 14 km. Check our website. The Geelong Cross Country conducts this run with volunteers and a minimum of professional help so our donations to charity are maximised.
