For the serious runners, it is a great warm-up or test run for a forthcoming marathon. For those looking to challenge themselves, it is an opportunity to run on a fast, flat course to record a PB or to participate in what's renowned as Melbourne's most scenic half marathon. And, for everyone it is a chance to run/walk in an event endeavouring to "go green". In 2009, we implemented several green initiatives, including: planting a native, indigenous tree in Trey Bit Reserve for every 100 competitors in the event, using recyclable race bibs and cups, and collecting more than 200 pairs of running shoes to be distributed amongst villagers in need in Karangasem, East Bali. This year, we will be developing further green policies in order to reduce our carbon footprint. With this in mind, enter the Villa & Hut Sandy Point Half online, slip into your running gear and carpool or cycle down to the Trey Bit Reserve in Sandringham to run or walk on a course that boasts sweeping sea views of Port Phillip Bay.
