The emergence of Fat Ass has been something akin to a spiritual revelation - in contrast to the total blandness of the NSW triathlon scene and the few boring marathons previously available, Fat Ass has stood out like a shining beacon, beckoning with the promise of the uncertain, the untested and definitely the uncomfortable. I yearn more of the same - not the same runs but the same uncertainty. I want to look at the Fat Ass calender and see new runs, not repeats from last year. We know that Fat Ass isn't for everyone. Most people prefer to stick to the same few organised runs, year in and year out, trying to beat their PB by three seconds or whatever they do. There are a million trails out there and even more stupid ideas waiting to be articulated. I don't want to know which Fat Ass runs are going to be on the calender in ten years time. I am not interested in running the Blue Labyrinth #25 in 2024 to qualify for a Fat Ass singlet. Anything which resembles the mainstream running scene should be jettisoned ...
