Hi Chris,

This event sounds exciting. How will you work out handicaps for people who have only run road races 5km and upwards??

Cheers Greg

Is our young friend who doesn't seem to post here going to running this year?

Thanks Greg. Handicaps are worked out by the Queensland Athletic League. The Ipswich Hospital Foundation has nothing to do with the handicapping for this event.

For further details: Queensland Athletic League. PO Box 1243 SOUTHPORT Q 4215. They will be better able to assist with your questions?

Cheers

Chris

Whats the winner get in prize money?
Also is the race handicapped is it? So I'm guessing it will be letting the slower runners start a few seconds prior to the faster ones or something? and who eevr crosses the line first regardless of the handicap is crowned the winner?
I'm thinking of pulling a day off work and heading up :( might be able to earn a bit more cash that way, then working. all going well haha.

It's a $5,000 prize pool and the handicapping is done by having the slower runners start X meters in front of the last runner.

Jason, judging by your results over the last few years I reckon you would be in for a show. Neil Labinsky won last year and he runs similar times to yourself. I am surprised you haven't been a member on coolrunning since now.

I'm thinking of coming up and having a go at it. It's just a matter of doing a few work adjustments. Sounds like a good pay day too if performance goes well on the day. Haha yeah i remember having an account years back with coolrunning but it got lost in time somewhere?? Labinsky is in good form I have heard :(

Yeah he was at Cartwright on the wend for the 5km, he finished around 4th and I was only 50m behind him at the finish...

That's probably because he was so far ahead that 2nd place didn't know where to go and 'led' everyone (including me) down to 6th place the wrong way through a shortcut and we knocked half a km off the course haha :( .  We were all a little confused at the finish. Not sure how the race organiser will present the results?

I can't believe the $ on offer for the One Mile Gift, if only I could run fast!

Congrats to Glenn Sadler who won on Saturday off a 300m mark.
