I almost had the bay to myself it was great! I think I should get extra brownie points for dodging big puddles, and where not possible to be avoided...going splash ankle deep. Without my ipod, the squelching of my feet kept me company. Of course the section behind Rozelle hospital where they are resurfacing was just one big squelchy mess.....kinda fun too. Then I discovered the off ramp from the bridge was closed so had to go a bit further, then down and then back up the hill and then cross the road. Not really an issue, but hope it's not going to be like that permanently. Dodging the cars speeding through the flooded road by Rodd Point was fun too - wouldn't have wanted to be on the cycle path at that point!
I was very surprised when I looked at my watch and the time said 1:11:09. I had mapped last night where my 10km would finish as I wasn't planning on wearing my Garmin in the solid rain....just a watch. I really hadn't been keeping track of time, just sploshing along, and quite a few walks in there too when my legs decided they wanted to. I must have been running faster than I thought! I was aiming for 1:10 so not a bad effort (for me, still a slow time by all accounts, but there is a plan.....).
Now home, fed and about to hit the warm shower...
Aiming for the CR5km next weekend, Oatley 5km run the following weekend and will have to be extra tough on myself this next 2 weeks to do my training sessions while negsplit is away running around the mountains in NZ.....
