Only 2 more sleeps!
It will be slow, it will be tedious, it will be a crazy thing to do, it will hurt (mentally and physically) but I am hoping it will be fun!
I know that Mr Gadfly thought I was crazy a year ago when I set out at midnight in the rain, to go and watch people run around in the middle of the night. Not just any people mind you , special CR people (BeesKnees you know who you are!). I guess in the grand scheme of things, it was a little crazy - but I got bitten by the bug well and truly, and started to think that maybe, given 12 months, I might just attempt it myself.
Fast forward and here we are.
With lots of encouragement and support from negsplit (think maybe some of his crazy has rubbed off on me too!), and my running training buddies, Mr Gadfly putting up with me heading out at odd times for runs and taking up far too much family weekend time (and early morning, getting ready for school and work time), Gadfairy putting up with a sweaty and tired MumÖÖÖit seemed like it was something I could achieve.
Iím not likely to break any land speed records any time in this lifetime, and while plodding along is getting faster and things are improving, I wondered if there was a different type of race I could try. This fits the bill! I can run my own pace, run my own race, but still be running with faster runners (and promise to keep out of their way). Itís a challenge of mammoth proportions, but Iím as ready as Iíll ever be.
So, come 8pm on Sat night, everything comes together and lets see what happens.
See you the other side of the sunrise!
