Thanks to all who read and or commented on my Narrabeen entry – almost felt like a celebrity there for a while. It was such a great race, loved it and loved the buzz that still goes on when I think about it! I most certainly couldn’t leave it at just that, and had been thinking ahead to Stromlo before I had even run Narrabeen.
Initially I wondered if I could do the 12 hour, but really don’t think I could put myself through that again in quite such quick succession, but really wanted to get out there again for something. Contemplated a team of 4 for 3hours each and a much more relaxed type of race, but many factors shelved that plan.
I had been in contact with Ninjette before Narrabeen, and know she was considering running, but decided not to run and allow a bit more time to settle old injuries etc….but 6 hours might be manageable………so another email trail…….and YES! It’s all on and we are both excited. Team Go Go Gadjette will hit the track at Stromlo in 3 weeks and see what happens!
My legs seem to be good again and have stopped screaming at me….I even managed some speed at training on Friday so that’s a good thing. Recovery seems to be in its end phase, so now it’s time to wrap my mind around another race in 3 weeks. I’ll use the same theory that I did for Narrabeen – run often, not long, not fast, but often on tired legs. So more consecutive day running, twice on one day, not too many rest days, but also not pushing it too much. 3 weeks isn’t really enough time to train in anything new, no huge benefits from anything I can do in 3 weeks…..but it’s plenty of time to do some damage or injury if I’m not careful.
After Stromlo……the big picture is the Sri Chinmoy in June, 12 hr. It is a little tempting to aim for the 24hr, but no way can I put my legs through such a huge increase again within 6 months. I’d like to get some more confidence and experience in 12 hr, before making that next leap……..but will no doubt do it at some time. Between now and then – nothing planned out as yet, but will most likely involve some 10km runs, maybe another HM…..or might do that after June, Sri Chinmoy races depending on dates……but not aiming for a stand alone marathon as a race. It’s still not something that I’m keen to do. I know that Fred wants to get me out on the trails…….not sure about that, but who knows what will happen.
I also need to fit life in general in there, work, school stuff for Gadfairy and time with family just relaxing………..busy year ahead.
