Saturday 6km And Supermum

Posted by plu , 14 July 2007 · 148 views

HI all,

  Saturday 6km 42 minutes , 124/155

This is my second run since the marathon.  It was such a nice day, I was feeling fat and a bit of a sloth so I just went out and ran for 6km.

Mum and Dad are down for a few days.  She has joined the Ashmore Police Citizen's Gym up in QLD and has a personal trainer to help her get the weight off and to learn how to use gym equipment.  They are putting a gym in her apartment block - it is an older block keeping up with the Joneses.

I have never seen Mum exercise except for some walking over the last few years.  Anyway she said the personal trainer was a bit put out by having someone so old but  Mum has continued and has a lot more confidence..  Dad is often nearby in a cafe having a cuppa and reading the paper.

Anyway last night I rang her and she was having a drink with my brother Matt at the Shooter's Bar in the Menzies.  She went out to lunch with some old friends and one had a stroke at the dinner table so the rest of them had another bottle of wine and went to the hospital to see how he was.

( I just went out to check on Ali - she has gone for a run.  She came down the street and I asked her how far had she run and she said 4.5km in 28 minutes with a big smile on her face.  I asked her why that far and she said "because I can" - she is a real Buddhist I think.)

Anyway back to Mum last  night when I was talking to her she said she just had an altercation with a young  guy with glazed eyes in the toilets in the Menzies.  She said to the  guy "you are scaring the girls here and perhaps you should go. "  He did not move so Mum said "I think your Mum would not approve of what you are doing" and he finally turned and left.

cheers  Plu

Could make for an interesting dynamic between the siblings with Ali's buddist leanings and Nick's Christian ways.

Hope to hear more PluZen in the future.

Yours in the long run,

Dave

I think she's a real runner too Plu. Don't worry about being a so-called pushy parent. Let your Zen side go a bit and encourage her. She could be good.
