Starting slowly.

Posted by paigebaby , 25 August 2012 - - - - - - · 196 views

The shoulder is getting better, tiny bit at a time.  Still taking painkillers but at least only panadol.  Was saying to the physio that i have never had to take them for so long before, even after knee surgery.  He kindly reminded me that shoulders are notorious for being painful and expect to still be taking them for another couple of weeks.

So with the...

This Sucks.

Posted by paigebaby , 11 August 2012 - * - - - - · 200 views

Here i sit, arm in a sling, near constant pain and feeling just a bit sorry for myself.  I should have known that the surgeon would find a bit more wrong when i had shoulder surgery just over a week ago.  It turn out i had a partial thickness tear in the rotator cuff tendon that needed fixing. So instead of a reasonably quick couple of weeks recovery, its 6...

Well i dont need my shoulder to run.

Posted by paigebaby , 30 May 2012 - - - - - - · 158 views

MRI results are in and dont i feel like a goose.  Should have seen a doctor when i first crashed the bike.  Diagnosis is: Malunited collarbone fracture, arthritis in AC joint, torn tendon in elbow and bone spurs.  All can be fixed with surgery. :)

So, i dont need my shoulder to get back to running. I will just re-adjust some goals, and stop sulking about...

Starting back at the beginning.

Posted by paigebaby , 27 March 2012 - - - - - - · 241 views

Injuries suck. That is one thing i have learnt over the past 12mths.  First it was shin splints, then it turned into a stress fracture of the tibia, then that healed and the tendinitis hung around.  Throw in a crash on the pushie that damaged the shoulder and its been a bummer of a year.

Finally get the leg sorted, do a triathlon in February and low and...

Finally Starting To Jog Again.

Posted by paigebaby , 05 September 2011 - - - - - - · 225 views

Wow, its been 5 mths since i last wrote anything and i suppose that is because i had nothing to add.  Its taken this long to be able to get back into running.  Im still on the slow road back to running. The stress fracture healed well but the lingering Tendonitis in the shins has been problematic.  I can...

Very Slow Process

Posted by paigebaby , 01 April 2011 - - - - - - · 176 views

Well another 6 weeks down and still making tiny improvement with the leg.  This is a very frustrating journey. I know that my leg is slowly improving, but it is such a slow process that sometimes i just want to give up and say stuff it and go running. Sometimes it seems to be two steps forward and one...

6 Weeks Down 6-8 To Go

Posted by paigebaby , 13 January 2011 - - - - - - · 80 views

Check up with the physio yesterday and things are healing well, but i have at least another 6 - 8 weeks of no running or long walks.
I can start back at spin classes (2 a week) and if that doesn't aggravate the leg then in another week i can start riding my bike but no large hills, big gears.
Its very frustrating not being able to run, i miss it but i...

Slow Road Back To Running.

Posted by paigebaby , 22 November 2010 - - - - - - · 187 views

Just over a week ago i did my last triathlon for the year.  Nepean Tri was my last tri due to the stress fracture in my leg.  Im now on the slow road back to being able to run.
Visited the physio today and we have worked out a program to keep my fitness at its current level and start building up strength in the legs to prevent this happening again.  Im...

Posted by paigebaby , 10 November 2010 - - - - - - · 207 views

Thats the new i received today. Bone scan on Monday confirmed a stress fracture in my left leg and shin splints in my right leg.  So it now 3mths of no running.
Bit of a bugger, but my physio is great and we are going to sit down and work out a recovery program and also work out a training program that will allow me to gt back to running and fix the...

Tri Pink 2010

Posted by paigebaby , 17 October 2010 - - - - - - · 76 views

What is it with Tri Pink and the wind.  Last year it was the dust storms, this year it was a cold snap that produces a most awesome crosswind and cold weather. I suppose we can consider ourselves lucky it wasnt held in Bathurst, then we would have had snow to deal with as well.

In any case it doesnt matter, it was still a fabulous day out with friends. ...
