Just over a week ago i did my last triathlon for the year. Nepean Tri was my last tri due to the stress fracture in my leg. Im now on the slow road back to being able to run.
Visited the physio today and we have worked out a program to keep my fitness at its current level and start building up strength in the legs to prevent this happening again. Im allowed to do a spin class once a week and go for a bike ride once a week, and i can swim 3 times a week incorporating water running with my swimming. Throw in a bit of fin work and swimming with paddles and i should start to see some improvement in my swim times next year.
In around 7 weeks we will re-assess how the leg is feeling and if there is no pain, i can start the slow process of getting back to running. So for now its all about healing the fracture.
Ive registered to do the Sprint Triathlon in Huskisson in March next year, so that has given me something to work towards.
I had been registered to try my first ever Half Ironman in Port Macquarie next May, but due to the injury i have had to withdraw. Oh well, there is plenty of time to torture myself to that extent. I may wait another couple of years and make it my 45th birthday present.

having read your blog i have decided that once i have done the city2bay next year, im going to look into triathlons. hopefully they have some short ones in adelaide. i will need to get into the pool tho, cos swimming is definitely my worst leg.
