M7 Marathon 29/07/12

Posted by walshy2 , 29 July 2012 - - - - - - · 256 views

The day didnt start off the best when I got to the start and realised I had left the Garmin at home.

Thankfully Sailaway kindly offered me his in return for my stopwatch, thanks Sailaway, awesome gesture. Silly me forgot to locate the satellites before the start so ended up just running with the timer showing and not the distances and averages etc.

Canberra Mara 2012

Posted by walshy2 , 16 April 2012 - - - - - - · 302 views

First time doing Canberra for me

Really enjoyed the course and weather was great, although would have preferred a bit of cloud cover to keep the sun out of the eyes.

Knew I wasn't in PB shape so thought I would run it at 3:10 pace and see how I felt and either go sub 3:10 or would be ok with a sub 3:15.

Went the first 15km or so a bit quicker @ about...

Posted by walshy2 , 25 September 2011 - - - - - - · 185 views

Despite the rain had a great time this morning running the 1st event of the new running wild season

excellent course with hills, up and down, roads, fire trails, single trail etc, so it was a really good variety

As usual the view from Mt Portal lookout was superb

Finished in 1:30:35 which was a nice hit out after the Sydney Mara last week

Was a bit...

Sydney Mara 18/09/11

Posted by walshy2 , 18 September 2011 - - - - - - · 143 views

What a warm day this was

Set off with no real goal, but thought I should be able to do 3:30, despite a lack of recent long runs and a bit of excess baggage

Wasnt to be!

After going through halfway in 1:41, faded for a 3:36

Was still pleased given the hot conditions as I see many people were strewn on the roadway or DNF due to the heat, so finishing...

Smc 1/2 19/12/10

Posted by walshy2 , 19 December 2010 - - - - - - · 143 views

Well pleased that I managed to get through this today. My longest run since July

Just cruised around in 1:47 and happy to get through it ok. Could feel a slight ache in hamstring but not too bad

I figure if I am going to be any chance of getting through 6ft, I need to start building back up and get a few km's in the legs.

went for a another deep...

Another Step Backwards

Posted by walshy2 , 20 November 2010 - - - - - - · 180 views

Well after progressing pretty well over the last 3 weeks or so, my Hamstring problem is again causing me grief

Have taken it pretty easy on the come back. Nothing fast or longish, but Thursday this week I could feel that ache in the butt where the hamstring connects to the Glute, yet again.

Other than take a a month or two off, I am at a loss as to what...

Woodford Dam

Posted by walshy2 , 31 October 2010 - - - - - - · 231 views

Did the Woodford Dam run today (18.37km by my garmin), part of the Running Wild NSW Series

was quite nervous as taking on these sort of hills with the hammy still not 100% was risky

took it very easy and got through with only minimal discomfort

now I have cooled down a bit can still feel a slight twinge where hamstring inserts to glute. I guess tomorrow...

Things May Be Looking Up

Posted by walshy2 , 28 October 2010 - - - - - - · 193 views

After a very frustrating few months I feel as though my Hamstring problem may finally be abating. I have tried, Rest, Ultrasound, Massage, Acupuncture, more rest etc

I am very mindful that these things can reoccur so am not doing anything long or fast, but gee at least I am running again and each day my Hammy feels better than the last.

Did SMC on Sunday....

I Miss Running Already

Posted by walshy2 , 26 August 2010 - - - - - - · 204 views

well it's been 8 days since I last ran

In the lead up to Gold Coast Mara I had felt some twinges in the top of my left hammie, where it inserts to the glute.

Got through GC and then had a few days off before pushing on two weeks later to a reasonably quick Half Mara

I should have listened to my body and backed off, but as they say hindsight is a...

M7 Marathon Relay

Posted by walshy2 , 25 July 2010 - - - - - - · 152 views

Did the M7 Marathon relay today and as a single 3 hour pacer couldn't be found myself and Mike Race did the 3 hour pacer job as a relay team

Mike came through halfway in 89 minutes which was bang on target, and he had two guys with him, Mark and Michael

After swapping the pacer flag, I took off with the intention of holding 4:15's till 32km and...
