The day didnt start off the best when I got to the start and realised I had left the Garmin at home.
Thankfully Sailaway kindly offered me his in return for my stopwatch, thanks Sailaway, awesome gesture. Silly me forgot to locate the satellites before the start so ended up just running with the timer showing and not the distances and averages etc.
Was hoping for anything under 3:05, so thought I would keep the 3 hour pacer in sight as I knew his plan was to run even 4:15's and my plan was to go through half in 91 mins which would then give me the option of quickening up if feeling ok, or buffer for sub 3:05.
The cumulative effect of the hills started to bite at 35 km's or so, so just focussed on getting the sub 3:05 done.
Ended up with 3:04:20, so pleased with that, and 2nd best mara time for me, so happy with that on a challenging course
Some good runs out there today, special mention to Runhard with a big PB, well done mate, and also Terry Meehan off interupted preparation with a solid run too.
Thanks for the shouts of encouragement from lots of friends today, Brick, Horrie, Seris, Cazzy,Lotsahare, GoGirl, Ratdog, Rod, Luis etc, helps when the going gets tough, for sure.
