at the 34km mark of the MM I was seriously asking myself why I persist in beating myself up doing marathons. Then, having just snuck in under 3:20:00 at the end, with a bit of a kick for the last few hundred metres, I started thinking about the next one!
Want to feel less rushed for the next, so will give Hobart a pass this time around, and set my sights on Williamstown. 32 weeks, and one day, to go.
Short term plan is to sensibly manage my recovery from the MM. I hope I can avoid injury for a change. The other glitches before race day are a couple of blood donations, which usually slow me down for about 10-14 days, and a conference to Hawaii in the second week of May, just at the start of tapering. I hope the hotel I'm staying at has a gym with treadmills, and will also try running in the warm, humid, Hawaii climate. Throw in a bit of jet lag to complicate things further. The time difference will be 5 hours at that time of year.
In the short term, will try to keep to a 5m15s pace during training, and if I slow down, will reduce the mileage. No 30+km long runs for at least 4 weeks. Current BMI 23. Aiming for a BMI of 21 before Willy. By my past efforts that will not be easy.

Congratulations on a good run in Melbourne & good luck with the next one.
