Strength Training

Posted by Injured2010 , 03 January 2011 · 39 views

I have always focused on sharing out the ratios equally when working out in the gym but found an interesting article that I would like to go back to before I get started this week in the gym.

http://www.runningpl...h-training.html

I am particularly interested in the eight rules of strength as a starting point:

  • Mechanics first - then resistance
  • Rule of balance (some surprises here!)
  • Goal oriented training
  • Rule of specificity
  • Rule of periodization
  • Rule of rest and recovery
  • Rule of variety
  • Rule of consistency

Having never really used the gym specifically for running (only been running less than 1 year) I have a lot to learn about how to use the gym/strength training in the right way to get results for running. Any advice would be appreciated here.
