Strength and Core Work

Posted by Injured2010 , 11 June 2012 · 118 views

I have probably neglected doing strength and core work during my short running career.  I have done a bit but not enough so while I am taking a bit of a rest from running (not for long!) I decided to kick start some solid work in the gym to help me improve my overall fitness.

I had a good 1 hour 30 mins session in the gym :) that included:
  • 15 mins warm up on the bike
  • glute circuit  x 3
  • squats 5 x 10
  • standing abductions 5 x 20
  • walking lunges 5 x 10
  • single leg calf raises 3 x 12
  • leg press 3 x 12
  • single leg curls (quads) 3 x 12
  • single leg curls (hamstring) 3 x 12
  • 10 mins on the bike
  • press ups using step for legs 3 x 10
  • plank
  • side plank
  • side bend 3 x 10
  • superman
  • crunches 3 x 10
I just need to get some good strength and core work completed when back to running full training weeks along with eating the right foods and this will give me a chance to hitting the targets I have set for this year :Four Leaf Clover:
