Eating less when not running is hard! Not running is hard!

Posted by Injured2010 , 14 June 2012 · 363 views

Catch 22 for me as the more I run the less I tend to eat or at least it balances out fairly well.   However, when I am not running due to an injury I find it hard to reduce my intake and can quite easily over eat.

I have struggled with my weight while not running as I tend to eat more due to having more time but I am due to meet with an expert tomorrow to discuss my diet and get some 1:1 work to get my strength and conditioning sorted so that I can come back stronger and reduce my chances of further little niggles/injuries.

On 11th June I found myself in a gym on a bike (unable to run) looking at people on treadmills thinking ‘what are you doing why are you not running outside!?’ If fit I would warm up for the gym strenght work by doing a 20 minute run outside and it was driving me mad being stuck inside.

Anyway since then I’ve started running again and I have managed an unspectacular 4km in run in 20:49 and another hilly 5km in 30 minutes.  The first run was hard going and unconvincing but I was just glad to be running outside.  I seemed to have recovered well from the first run and was able to increase my mileage/time on the 2nd run so hopefully it won't be long before I am fit enough to pick up my programme.

Still got fingers crossed that everything goes well :Four Leaf Clover:

If the expert knows the secret of losing weight while getting strong and running lots, then make sure to post it

I feel your pain, been there done that... :-(

It's hard to drop down on food intake so maybe you should try munching (or overeating) on some low calorie food. I'm not into diets or any such cult but one thing that helped me years ago was a Calorie King website (www.calorieking.com.au) as it had all AU foods you can think of, it's pretty user friendly and doesn't tell you to avoid any type of food (i.e. carbs, fat etc....)

They even have an iPhone App :-)

The more I exercise the more I crave for food!
I'm just hungry all the time!

Hope your injury gets better soon!
