First Target For 2011 Achieved

Pleased to run a sub 20 minutes 5km run tonight during a club race when I finished with a time of 19:48.  

The course was uphill to start with for the first km and then fairly flat after that but the first km can be quite hard.  I had hoped to complete the first km in around 3:45 but managed just under 4:00 pace and managed to keep this pace for the rest...

A Good Week Finished

I have managed to complete a really good week with 72 1/2 km completed, including a long run of 26km Sunday.

The only downside came on Saturday when I was doing some speed work and despite completing the session struggled to run/jog the cooldown so walked most of it instead and then completed my stretches.  However, this is the first full week this year...

Barefoot Running Saved Me This Week!

Barefoot running served me well this week! While still struggling with injury I used barefoot to get my runs completed and it has all worked out really well.

My total mileage for the week was 66.46km with 18.16km being barefoot mostly at the end of runs when I could go no further in shoes.  This was 27% of my total mileage.  Just need to get some...

Expert Running With Injuries

After my setback yesterday I had my long run to do today and wasn't sure whether to do it or not.  However, after a bit of support I decided to give it a go and go very carefully.

Arrrghhh Not Again!

Just as I thought I was back on track I have another slight strain on my right hamstring!

Really disappointed and annoyed with the whole episode now! After my visit to the physio the day before he said the right hamstring was fine although a little bump on the left hamstring which I think is from an old football injury when I had a really bad tear....

Getting Back To Full Fitness

Looks like I am just about there but still need to be careful.  Following my hamstring injury from my 5k race last Wednesday I have completed a long run and four other runs.  However, all were hard work and slow. I had to really focus on my form and my tight hamstring.  

Tonight's run was much better and more relaxed although not sure of my exact time...

Injured Again But Not A Bad Race!

Despite tweaking my hamstring (right leg) I am not too disappointed with my run tonight.  It could have been my left leg again!
