60 km Bike Ride tomorrow

Posted by antracing , 31 March 2012 - - - - - - · 299 views

60 km Bike Ride tomorrow I've done 30 km this week, eased off as body felt tired and legs a bit niggly after Mt Baw Baw fun run.  The local bike riders club has a 60 km ride along the Great Southern Rail Trail tomorrow so I've loaded the bike on the ute and set the alarm.  60 km on gravel is probably a bit far considering I haven't ridden the bike for a while, but I...

I'll call this an easy week

Posted by antracing , 28 March 2012 - - - - - - · 142 views

Not feeling too sharp still, did 3.6km 32 mins P=9.03; S= 6.6, 1 stride P=4.48, S = 12.5.

One of the people I milk for is doing R4Ks; this is actually bad news as it marks their transition from hard working young parents; to having seen 1st son fly coop (apprenticeship) and they now will have a life of things just like what I do, ie they really need a...

A bit weary still, easy 11 km

Posted by antracing , 27 March 2012 - - - - - - · 88 views

I'm still feeling a bit weary after the Baw Baw run, did a nice easy 11km today, felt Ok, 11.02 km; Pace = 8.42; speed = 6.9; 1 stride 201 m P= 4.23, speed = 13.6 km per hr.  Generalised grumpiness diminished over the run.  Potato crop up at Forest Brow is still getting harvested and old Mr Sylvester was splitting some firewood so the normally quiet...

Mt Baw Baw Fun Run

Posted by antracing , 25 March 2012 - - - - - - · 433 views
10k, offroad
Mt Baw Baw Fun Run We left for the run at 7.33 am and went via Tyers, Rawson and the South Face Road.  SFR is gravel and rather corrugated in places but was a good direct run to Mt Baw Baw.  Unlike the route home, bitumen but just as rough, 50 minutes longer via Moe.

It was very cold and foggy at the Village at Mt Baw Baw but the locals in the Skiosk were very warm and...

Coping with empty nest 6/10 ; coping with return of son on w/e 1/10

Posted by antracing , 24 March 2012 - - - - - - · 115 views

I didn't realise that the empty nest was OK but that dealing with the return of son for the w/e would be so hard emotionally.  Plan was that since he's lived here for years, all that means is I will be happy he's back.  But was too keen to see and talk to him, so when partner monopolised all the conversation, blah blah blah I let him have it...

Hail, wind, fallen trees, and EVE's

Hail, wind, fallen trees, and EVE's The forecast today was for pretty wild cold weather and it is spot on.  Slipped out for my run in a brief sunny interlude but with dark clouds all about.  Ended up coming home in freezing hail, launched at the angle to go into my ears (under the hat).  I know its windy when I have to wend my way past a fresh-fallen tree up on the ridge.

At least at the...

5.09 km in 27 min 15 secs, wow!

Posted by antracing , 22 March 2012 - - - - - - · 88 views

Did the Harriers Rocla Rd run tonite, and did best time since recovery started.  Pace 5.20, av speed 11.2 km per hr.  First female home, didn't get lost, (lots did ;it was a complex 3 loop crossover thing), handicap should be up a bit next week.  Getting back to 25 mins for 5 km may just happen sometime this winter.

Will give Mt Baw Baw 10 km a crack...

How my body (and mind) has changed with the change in fuel (food)

Posted by antracing , 22 March 2012 - - - - - - · 214 views

It has now been 3 months since I came out of the cardiologists rooms clutching Diet Sheet1 and the receipt for the $250 it cost me (so I had incentive to try it!).  In fact I need to pay my last $127 this arvo, so good advice isn't cheap.

I've lost about 8 kg over say 12 weeks.  But the most important things are the feel of the body,...

2 interesting short runs "hill repeats" "strides"

Posted by antracing , 21 March 2012 - - - - - - · 117 views

Today and yesterday I have had the same problem, day has been busy and hot, so not running during day.  Then milking in the arvo at Tap Tap (ie 2.40 to 7.30 pm).  But want to run.

So yesterday I got home, changed and zipped out the door to see how quickly I could do the smallest "block" round the pines (2 kms).  It has a steep start that usually...

Nice 8 km run today; 49.69 km last week

Posted by antracing , 19 March 2012 - - - - - - · 93 views

Nice 8 km run today; 49.69 km last week Today was one of the few days on the calendar with nothing marked on it.  So I didn't have much excuse not to get up and clean up the house a bit, hells bells, life as an empty nester certainly has some some strange happenings.  Big mirror doors on built in wardrobe in bedroom cleaned just about first time ever.  Makes room scarily huge.

Last week...
