Much better 10 km run today, hopefully have retained fitness for half mara

Today I went out in howling gale and intermiitent hail but had a very enjoyable run as the lungs felt a lot better and I happily upped the kms from the planned 8 km to 10 km in 1:18 up the Greely Hill to Lays driveway and back.  Saw a little dead black snake on track, must have been run over on the last warm day, looked like a thick shoelace about 10 cm...

No running for 6 days due to dust asthma, 6km run tonight OK

Posted by antracing , 23 August 2012 - - - - - - · 102 views

Well I did last weeks Harriers run , 5km Stockdale Rd , with asthma effectively dictating how fast I could run, ie at a certain point I had to slow up or be unable to continue.  I slogged around being soundly beaten by people usually minutes behind me and salvaged 4.97 km in 28:54, pace 5.49, speed 10.3.  Needed the finish as it was a Championship run....

One week slowly going downhill, then 1 week flu and goo, yuck, yuck..

Posted by antracing , 05 August 2012 - - - - - - · 147 views

After AV Bundoora I did a 8.23 km run on the Sunday, making 63.16 for that week, YTD = 950.15.  So only a week away from 1000 kms right?  Wrong.  The flu got me.  So the next week I started with 24.2 km in 3:15:52. It felt bad and a couple of uphill walks, totally unnececessary at my fitness level.  Instead of improving I had gone backwards and the cold I...
