Between milking morning and afternoon and going to town to do some shopping and Curves gym session, running got squeezed to a 3.67 km run up in the pines. But as I noted a few days ago I've found a very nice hill section to do repeats on, and today checked out my ideal "strides" section. Concentrated on knee lift and cadence and found speed zipped up nicely to 17.5 km per hour (a lot better than usual) for about 100m out of 200m sprint track. Now need to do each thing once a week to liven the LSD (long slow distance, ie my ordinary training) up a bit. I'm also going to go to the AV competitions with the club this winter as there is a category for my age group and I think I'll get a go. I suppose if I work up to about 8 repeats of the hill for hillwork and the strides for sprint work on say Tuesdays and Thursdays I may get a bit faster and stronger . Up hills at the moment my philosophy is "limit the damage" ie try to not give away too much ground. In my previous sporting days I rode horses, in the latter phases having a go at Endurance. My good friend has offered me the chance to do the 3 day Shahzada training ride (Little Shahzada) with her on one of her lovely horses. Its in August in St Albans NSW and I have spoken to partner and have a leave pass, so there is a wonderful opportunity to do something that I thought had passed me by. Of course, Huey may have to lay off the rain a bit by then or it could go the way of this year's 6ft track marathon. Rained out ( Cox's river rose too high), my heart goes out to the organisers, all that work , all in front of them to do again next year.

Promise will find it such a relief to have a lighter rider who might actually get off and run beside her from time to time - not like the fat old nanna she had to cart around last year (me!!).
Might re-ignite the endurance flame.
