Pulled up a bit beaten up from yesterday's efforts, and a little session on the calves and quads gave a little relief.
On an RDO today, so got out to UQ just after lunchtime and basically wanted to do last Monday's session, but with another 2.2k at pace tacked on to it.
I was a bit junky once I got going but seemed to be able to push through the stiffness okay and once on to the gravel was able to push pace to 4:16 for the 2.24k to the other end of the path, and then 4:08 and 4:10 for the subsequent 4.5k out and backs - but at the end of the second out and back the rubber band snapped and I took the 3.4k back to the car as a cool down instead of doing 2.25k at 4:10-4:15. Just couldn't do it, heart rate was up a bit compared to last week and it really felt like dragging speed out of the legs that just wasn't there.
That's fine - managed to drag 11k of sub 3 hour marathon pace out of legs that had 33k in them from yesterday, which is exactly the point of this session. The back half of the 11k really felt like the last 5 or 6k of the run yesterday where I was quicker than I had been for the whole long run, just trying to get it home. This was a good session this far out from Brisbane.
