End of the working week

Thursday - I was literally still working out what I was going to do after my warm up for this session.  Ended up doing 5 x 1.1km or so, which pacewise went 3:51, 3:48, 3:48, 3:43 and 3:36.  Didn't really push until the last rep, just worked on being nice and tall and consistent with my stride and action.
Friday - got out at lunch and rolled through a bit over 7.1k in a little under 33 minutes, just a comfortable roll through on the UQ trail.  Felt fine.

Not sure on the weekend - I'm hoping to get to the Queensland Running Cross Country on Saturday afternoon (out at Seventh Brigade Park, Geebung) and do either the 4 or 5k race but that depends on what happens at home in the morning.  Will get out on the bike early, though - enjoy that too much to miss it as much as I have been of late.

I have 24k in the program for Sunday and was thinking of doing less, but looking back at my old blog it seems back in '06 I actually did 36 the Sunday a week before my PB!  That won't be happening, but I'm thinking a two hour effort might work, something in the order of 25 to 26k.  Might park at the 10k mark of the Brisbane Marathon course and follow it through to just after the 35k mark, which would put me right back at the car....perfect!

Cheers, Ray - great to see you out there at Gold Coast.  It's great to be able to run without any major dramas, I seem to have my back sorted now and it's amazing how the speed comes back.

Many of the things you said to me about my running over the years, and your own journey, have stuck with me.  I think you helped me realise that I am, as you put it, an emotional runner, and that the emotional side can be very useful to tap into when the chips are down.

I look forward to catching up with you at Brisbane.

Cheers
