3 weeks later - where has the time gone

Wow - it's been three weeks since my last blog - where has the time gone.
I managed to slowly get back into my running routine and now do 17km every Monday and Wednesday. Times are slowly getting better however the humidity is not helping.
I ran the Canterbury Aus Day 5km - It has to be one of the best 5Km runs in the country. Free entry, race chip and a free feed afterwards. I even managed an avg 4.51/km which given it was post marathon, I was quite happy with.
My January total distance was 270km which surprised me. Last year I was injured for part of it and only scrapped into the low 200's. February is looking good and I may match that distance. Funnily enough, my last race before our European Holidays in late march is the Feb SMC 25km. After that, I can be a little more relaxed with my long runs (as if.....).
I was once told that after a marathon, you can expect about 4weeks before times get back to some normality. I was never quite sure and given the last month, I can now agree. I'm in awe of people like Eagle who can run back to back marathons on a weekend. I know it has taken years of training but still....
On a side note, I'm not enjoying the darkness the engulfs my runs now - by that I mean sunrise times. I've noticed much later the sun rises each day. I'm now finishing my runs with the street lights still on. At least it is ever so slightly cooler which is a blessing.
This week I'm running for a charity - a friend of mine - Luca is running 20 Marathons in 29 Days beginning in Mid March (Italy) and whilst we are both in the same country at the same time, our itineraries clash and we are in opposite parts of the country. On Friday Luca is running a Marathon treadmill challenge - running a relay team of 4 people over the 42.195 distance (approx 10.6 per runner). Will be different.
Let's see how this week goes and can't wait for Sunday for SMC.
