I have just been for my Saturday morning run, in the rain, with a bunch of mates.
I am feeling pleased with myself because I managed to keep up with their pace for just over an hour. I didn't think I would be able to, thanks to the two marathons I have run the past two weekends and feelings of tiredness all this week. But I have been reading some of Tim Noakes' recent writings about the role one's mind plays in fatigue and today I tried to put his theories to the test.
Although I felt several times during this run that I was going to have to drop back, I told myself that I did have the ability to stay with them, and stay with them I did, even though my legs really really wanted me to slow down.
