have had a bit of a shocker going into city 2 surf this weekend, Ive only ran 2 x 10km and 2 games of soccer since last Monday.
Reason being was straining my groin during the sutho2surf. Wasnt too bad but had a really sharp pain when i strided out.
Last two weeks as follows :-
Mon 23/7 - Rest after Sutho2surf day before
Tue 24/7 - Rest again, groin started really hurting
Wed 25/7 - Played 5aside soccer because we were short, was ok while playing but not a good idea
Thurs 26/7 - rest again, groin pretty sore
Fri 27/7 - Quick test of the groin while running - no good - 3km @ 6m47s pace
Sat 28/7 - Sat out my normal long run - didnt enjoy missing it!
Sun 29/7 - Rest again
Mon 30/7 - Rest again, groin feeling much better
Tue 31/7 - 10km @ 6m41s for 67.04 mins - groin held up good, did it tough though
Wed 1/8 - 5 a side soccer - no dramas with groin
Thurs 2/8 - 10km @ 5m57d for 59.42mins - great run but groin felt shockin again about 2 hours after it
Fri 3/8 - groing felt worse!
Sat 4/8 - Missed teh long run again - not happy jann!
Sun 5/8 - rest again
Mon 6/8 - and again, groin feeling better but still there
Tue 7/8 - Carried timber flooring for my mate, heavy arse boards up and down three flights of scaffolding stairs - felt good while doing it, didnt feel to bad when going to bed
Wed 8/8 - oh my god...my legs were on fire, just tight all over, pulled out of 5 a side to rest up for Sunday...30 mins before game one of the blokes pulled out so couldnt leave team short against team coming 1st, played ok once legs got warmed up (got absolutely smashed tho!)
Today, legs still sore and actually feel a bit chesty (have asthma) so going to rest up and go for a 5km jog on saturday morning to get the legs ticking over for Sunday.
Its my first City2Surf and was going to try and break 70mins but now might relax and go as hard as i feel and just enjoy the morning out!
Hopefully back into training properly for last 5 weeks before blackmores half mara next week!
