Come along to this free, weekly, electronically timed 5km fun run. parkrun caters for all ages and fitness levels, from absolute beginners to experienced runners wanting to improve their personal best. Walk, jog or run and experience this encouraging and friendly atmosphere for yourself. All new runners are required to register at www.parkrun.com.au.

Main Beach parkrun, Gold Coast

Location - Hollindale Park
Start Date - From April 2, 2011
Start Time - 07:00
Surface - Combination of cement and grass track
Location of Start - Start is adjacent to the BBQ area, across from Southport Yacht Club
Getting there by Public Transport - Bus 715 or 750 in direction Seaworld
Getting there on Foot - Walk or ride along the Esplanade into Main Beach Parade until you get to Seaworld Drive. Hollindale Park is on your right.
Getting there by Road - From the Gold Coast Highway, exit onto Waterways Drive, then at the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Macarthur Parade. Free parking is available in front of Southport SLSC.
Course Description - The course starts on the grass in Hollindale Park, running through a canopy of trees for the first 250m onto the cement path. This continue for approximately 500m before vearing off to the left just after Marina Mirage. From here runners complete a clockwise loop which is mainly grass on the outbound and cement on the inbound. The last 2km essentially follows the straight cement path parallel to Main Beach all the way back to the finish line.

An adventure, an endurance event, a 100km-long scenic buffet. The Vibram Tarawera Ultra is a 100k, 50+ mile (85km) or 60km trail ultra. distance run from Rotorua to Kawerau in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. Along way you'll pass through exotic forestry, native bush, lakes, waterfalls and follow a beautiful river. Most of the run is on single track trails or forestry roads. You can compete as a solo athlete or as part of a relay team. There will be buffet aid stations, drop bags, pacers, spot prizes and free hotpools at the finish. Plus you'll get to share your day with an international field of athletes.
