10 June 2012 and a new Marathon PB.
Went out with the target of sub 3:15 was spot on my splits as always to the halfway mark and was still on pace at the 32km mark which is not normal usually vomited a few times by then.
But the inevitable happened and I started feeling a bad gut just before the 32km mark slowed down a little to hopefully let it get better.
Just after the 32km mark I vomited felt better immediately so cried on running OK just a little slwoer than the pace I needed.
Got to the 37km mark and again feeling sick got passed by one guy in my age group so I was second in age group then vomited again this time it continued until just after the 39km mark then felt better again so pushed to the finish.
I had lost too much time to get back into first in age group but a PB is not a bad day.
8th overall
2nd age group
Gun 3:18:57
Net 3:18:55

EDIT:
Forgot to say been trying a few different things with nutrition recently.
Gatorade on some runs and hammer perpetuem on others.
Gatorade seemed to be the best option for a Marathon so I started with 2 small flasks of Gatorade.
I had tried this on some 38km runs and had no problems.
As you see above I did have some issues but better than normal so I think my next Marathon I will water it down a little bit and see how that works.
I think it was a bit strong for my gutt at the pace I was running with it being OK at training pace.
I did not go with perpetuem 2 reasons the last training run with it I vomited a few times and it just did not seem to give me the same boost as Gatorade.
Will try it again for Ultra's made up a bit weaker than I did last time.
Keep testing different stuff and eventually I hope I will find what works best for Marathons and Ultra's.
