:o Irishman?

Anyway...he will be missed up front given his range of performances from Half Marathon (62 ?)  to Marathon de Sables.

According to his bio, Stu was also the British 10K road champion in 1999 running 28:54 and was and may still be the youngest UK athlete to run a sub 4 minute mile. He represented UK at the World Half Marathon Champs in 1999 running low 65. Sorry SixFoot, I was a couple of minutes out. Still a smoking time!

Will be interesting to see how the tussle between Matthews and Artup pans out.

Could be pretty close. One would suspect that at his age, Matthews still has a lot of improvement in him, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a faster time from him.

Matt Robbie has the potential to be up there, but that's dependent on him running a smart race - does he have the patience?

Lee and Moyle to round out the top 5.

Not all the contenders are from north of the border. Look out for Victorian David Venour...or smoothy as he is known to some. Top-10 prediction.

Make of it what you will.

I have a meeting schedualled with Sleep Train this afternoon to inform him, in true factional bowerbroking fashion, that the Lower Blue Mts chapter of BMMC have transfered there support across to Gottagofasta for 6ft 2011.

Berro,

Do you write cryptic crosswords in your spare time???

Just did some trawling of 2010 Pikes Peak ascent results:

Andrew Lee 2:41:10
Anna Frost 2:42:46
Brendan Davies 3:05:35

I know Mr.D had problems with the high altitude, but makes for an interesting comparison......  Assuming it is the same A.Frost.

Hornet, that's her. She passed me effortlessly around 5k up that mountain. She is strong as an ox on the ups. I'm expecting to be chicked this year.

Interesting Mr.D.  I expected you to have been 'chicked' a bit further into the race when the altitude started causing problems.  Sounds like Anna will have a careful run to the river and then cut loose from there.

Might have to run a raffle prize - 'Guess which km Mr.D will be chicked' :help:

I would be interested as well. We have been chasing him to fill gaps in BMMC line up (for the 2nd year running)

Ah yes, my earlier call that it would take 3.10 or better to win 6FT this year has been sadly scuppered.....

It may not take it , but Greyhound can still do it.

Withdrawals in last few days included:

Sara Burgess
Don Wallace
Ben Artup
Darren Moyle (to balance the RW vs Striders)
All injured.
edit: Stu Gibson earlier too

From the greatest line up ever to possibly having one horse races.

...shame...still will be interesting to see the different racing styles of Robbie (fast starter) v Matthews (fast finisher).

How long can M.R hold him off?

Alex will have his back to back win in the bag now.

I don't know Robbie, i'm sure he will do very well considering he has had months off work training for this event but will be hard to challenge a pure climber like Alex.

I thought Ben Artup was training really well, his blog had recent detail of plenty of hard long training runs, would have thought he would be in prime shape for this one so yeah it is a real shame.

I witnessed David in action up the Dandenongs a few weeks back and he was flying (uphill!). Didn't know "smoothy" was a nickname - but that very acurately describes his speed and style up the hills.

By all accounts his shape was even better than 2009 until he got the same injury as last year.

I'm pacing myself off Judo.  Last 3 Six Foots all within 90 seconds of each other.  He must be a metronome.

Sub 3:40 for you this year Tom. All that trail running will pay off this year.
