Hello Marathon Runners

I had the wonderful opportunity to see the race yesterday and be inspired by the amazing efforts of you all. It is two years since I last ran the marathon and I felt a bit guilty watching so many people have such a great time.

I have placed a selection of photos of Cool Runners (the gear really stands out) on Flickr at:


There are three pages (57 photos in all).

I will update this post in a few days when I have uploaded shots of non-Cool Runners. (It takes a while to go through a couple of thousand images!) If any of you were not wearing CR gear you might find some pics of you in that lot.

PS - I would love any feedback on which of the pics you guys like the best: full length vs top half only. And which is the best shot from the day?

Again, thanks gor the time/effort taken to be out there in such average weather.  It is always nice to have a momento of these events, whether we feel we've run them well or not.

Great Pics..... My GF insisted on wearing my CR visor for the 10.... i said... u realise u will be yelled at and cheered at.... She thought i was kidding... (doesnt know about the forum etc)..... we took one step into the start chute.... "Go Cool Runner" She was stunned, silent, looked left, right and then said "bluuuurrrrggghhh ehhhhey"

Slightly off topic, but on the official photo site they have also captured the pacers by using their pace bib. ie 1:30, 3:40 in place of the bib number.
Caught quite a few during the event.

Thanks Pb. Its great that you get out there and do that. Ive got no idea what part of the course that was, but we look really spent. Andyb is right behind me and we were close by most of the day. I remember him giving me an encouraging  pat on the back as I was curled over facing those god dam demons. After that I picked myself up and finished the last 5 km,s.2011-10-09_Canon7D_IMG_5628

Who can miss the large Aussie hat?? Peter you were the one who said 'Hi CR' to me and a few others just after the start. Yes, the hat stands out.

Thanks for the kind comments and glad I captured some of the emotion of the day, even if it wasn't necessarily your most flattering moment!

TynoMite - mate, you weren't walking ... just an optical illusion (photos can be like that!)
alisonjc - great to see you again Alison; and I love that photo too - you did ham it up a bit!
maryclaire - I think that's two good pics of you in two races ... you certainly had your "game face" on in the pic
fatboyslim - I thought you looked pretty good when I saw you: first shot was aid station as you exited the Albert Park Lake loop so maybe you'd had a dodgy cup of water; second shot at St Kilda/Fitzroy St heading to Elwood - you seemed very in control at that point
flyingemu - I reckon you had consistently the biggest smile I saw all day!! Clearly having a lot of fun. I agree with Running Angel - maybe you weren't working hard enough ;-)
TassiePenguin - you were the only person where I published consecutive shots of you ... the second one cracked me up ... the first one explains what you were doing (swilling some water)
shortie84 - glad you were a cameo in one of the pics; wearing the CR gear will certainly help in future
Kaiser - "looking stoned" eh; gels will do that to you!
shaunh - I really like that shot of you with your "peleton" in tow; as for location - the timing mats on the ground behind you are at the 30k mark coming up to Fitzroy St
PeterPlodder - you won my "best hat" award for the day ... loved it :-)

I have just put up a selection of other photos I took on the day. If you think the CR ones are interesting ... check out this lot. Some weird and wacky outfits; and plenty of pain at 40k!
