Thanks Spud,

I arrived at at Caves House in about 5.30 I think.

At the finish, talking to Milov, he had a 11.57, I forgot what he said for half way.

And he said he was doing the Herman, leading a blind runner for the c2s.

How did you go Michael? You mentioned that your runner was aiming for 86 min.

r2w

ps Spud. Good running especially with 'hardrocks in your legs'. :D

Oh yea I forgot Spud.

Cookie man(Kim) and Steve ran 6ft intending to partypoop. Kim 5.29 I think and Steve soon after me, probably 5.35. (guesses)

Nice photos TP. The native flowers in your hair suited the beautiful day we all had in the mountains. Wattle you think of next? :D

Also missing B1orB2/Brian's time for Pluvio to Caves and back.
With him putting on the superb Pluvio aid station we need his time for sure.

Good point Brick. BTW did anyone get a 7am startline photo for posterity? Oh and I forgot the man himself, the Herrmannator!

A few photos taken at 7:00 so somebody should be able to post one.
And I also forgot about Jan, sorry mate always nice to catch up even for a short while.
And he looked very strong on the way out for sure.
So good luck with UTMB this year.

Yes, Pommie Jo took some. Not sure how to load them up though. I'm hopless, can't even send a text message, but I'll find out and put some photos up soon.

By the way I managed to get lost no less than four times. Still haven't completed an ultra without getting lost. Ridler + ultra = getting lost. It adds to the adventure though. I came face to face with a horse in the dark at one point. I'm not sure who was the most scared by the experience.

I ran 2:30 from Pluvi to the Caves with Sir Runalot (who has now, I believe, changed his name to Sir Walkalot), B2orB1, Dave C and Ted West (all from Berowra Bushrunners).

Dave C started at 6am and stoped when the 'group' passed the cabins. Ted W stopped with Dave C but started running with the 7am crowd from Megalong Rd. All very complicated I know.

We can forget about my return time to Pluvi. If you need to put something down write 'eternity'.

Also Keiran beware there is a photo of "that" bridge.

That's a good picture - we got some on the phone camera and they did not come out so well.   Do you think I might have earned some naming rights to the bridge?

Great reading about everyone's day out. Brick, Horrie and SR your race reports really bring back a flood of memories. Feel like I should have been there.

Think I might head out for a spring 12FT if anyone is keen join me and put that in their calendar.

My 8 year old just looked at these photos and said "look at all the ones wearing shorts, weren't they cold?"

I think we look pretty cheerful considering the conditions and what is about to unfold.....

Mr Dutchie mentioned his car thermometer read -0.4C at 6am, it certainly was nippy.
I couldnt get my camebak tube to flow until just before the river, frozen solid.
That said I never needed my jacket and shorts were adequate, just as well it wasn't windy however.

Thanks for the photos r2w, I will upload to the fatass page. Nice report SirRunalot.

Hey Spud can you please add me in the party pooper for 6:09.

Having run the Bush Capital 60km the previous week I decided on just the party pooper option. Was tempted to turn around at the caves house for a run back to the tree but the temptation to sit in the sun and drink coffee was to great. Enjoyed taking it easy and meeting heaps of coolrunners along the way.

Defiantly keen for a full 12ft in 2011

Great reports and Keiran you definitely have naming rights for that bridge.  My splits - I didn't wear a watch - just relied on my phone.  We got away right on 6am and it was 1pm when I started walking up from Jenolan - so 7hrs.  I didn't check it again until I was back at the tree and by the time I touched the tree and then remembered to look at the time it had clocked 9pm.  Martin Dugdale suggested in true fat ass tradition I could claim 14.59 (which sounds so much better than 15hrs  :D ) but 15hrs seems fair enough.

Started at 6am, arrived Caves House 7:59, return to ExTree 19:37.
Hermann double: 1hr 58min.

As always I expected/hoped to turn at the caves at 7:00 and return at 16:00 but again that was not to be. The important thing, as I had a C2S entry was to complete both events for my first Hermann double.  From my times you can see I finished both events on the same day!

Jan himself bailed at Deviation and turned to the road, as I turned onto Black Range.  A couple of minutes later B1orB2 appeared driving back from Pluvio so that was fortuitous for Jan.

I'm another who got mislaid after crossing the River on return and lost about ten minutes - puzzling as I've never had trouble there before.

Graham Wye and Horrie had the same trouble. Horrie was showing Graham a 'shortcut'. :D

Well done on the Double. I could not imagine the pain going again for c2s.

Buzz and GoGirl should be clawing their way up Nellie's about now if their schedule is to plan. I had a lovely hit out and did Explorer's Tree to Black Range Camping Ground return for an even 70kms. Ran pretty much the whole day on my own, but lots of people out there. Walkers, thirty odd army dudes and CR's Kieron Thompson with his family too at Cox's River heading out for a stroll.

Met two very nice guys at Megalong Road who very kindly donated some water to me and a can of Red Bull. Helped me no end on hitting my target time today. They're probably not on CR, but they were a big help.

Er, not quite. It as actually awhile later.
We had CR Neo, His Mrs SharonCarmel, GoGirl, Darren (from Trottters), myself, and Dan who pre-opted for 10FT.

I must admit, with it now being an 'official' fatass, there are less people to chase or be chased. All of us took the whimsy(but smarter?) option of crossing the bridge. Now I wonder, why didn't ANYONE on this 12FT mention to us HOW COLD CREEK WAS?? (I found it hard way running straight into it!)

Most of us took it fairly easy. It was a slow 6.05 to caves house for me - a swift 10 minutes break and I was back up the lonely 7km. The rest pinic for 40mintues with Matt Moran's chips and sea salt.

I wished there were more CRs out there, or well, at least Dan being there for the full monty for me to be more competitive. There were lots of our army boys and girl(s) on the course, especially prominent along back range road. One of them though I was braggin when I said I have been running for 8.30hours (top of Pluvi) They were doing road marches (up and down black range road???)

Darren (from Trotters) zipped past me 3km after the bridge and finished in 13:30hours. I 'died' along that section and did not run until after Megalong cemetary. With his pace (a 2.54marathoner) he is someone to watch for the GNW100km. A horrible 14:01hours for me. Lots of time I wished my buzzlightyear suit was working, so to relieve me of the agony - Rocket back up to Darren's car...!

Neo zipped through the finishin like a runner on dope - I did not record his time but it was just under 15 I believe.

Gogirl has a..erm....long day in the office. She kinda got want she wanted - Time on her feet (perhaps not the way she wanted)

She felt sick 10km out and struggle up the 'you-can't-say-her-name' section (puked 4 times while up on the stair machine) It was almost 11.35pm when we finally left the tree.

While it is still a good day out, I don't think this can relace the real fatass deal.

Darren - 13:30hours
Buzzlightyear - 14.01hours
Neo (~15hours)
Sharon Carmel (Mrs Neo) - pluvi and back (Time not known)
GoGirl (~16hours)
Dan (ladyboy option 70km ~ 99hours)

OOPS! Sorry Mrs Neo...I mean Carmel.

Thanks for posting Buzz. As Spud says, it is kms in the legs.

Just back from a 10 km in the local forest with the 'reminder' of last Saturday in my legs. The slight soreness was telling me that 12 foot is a good workout. I just wish that races like GNW, North Face and Glasshouse were just around the corner from Dubbo.

North Face might be the go next year. If only we did not have to carry all that stuff.
mandatory gear  Is all that gear really necessary? Probably is for those inclement conditions the Mountains are prone to I suppose.

Awesome day. Loved every minute of it. Although I busted my right quad coming down Mini Mini on the way home and hobbled the last 20km back to the tree. Thanks Gogirl for the panadol, I could not have got back up Nellies Glen without it!

6.40 split to Caves House and then a nice 42 min break and 7.55 return.
Very happy considering the injury and a perfect way to spend a Saturday.

We were blessed with the weather too. Carmel and I were having breakfast in Katoomba this morning and were counting the downpours including a heavy hail shower.

Gogirl, thanks for orgaising the run. Bugger about the last 10km for you. It was great running with you and Darren and I'll see you at GH100

Hey Buzz, Mrs Neo is Carmel but she now has a new nickname thanks to you! Shazza! - Love it!

One of my favourite runs ever and with great company.

GoGirl that sounds absolutely horrendous.  Just when we thought those stairs couldn't get any worse...

That almosts qualifies as a 24 Foot, good enough in my book.

Dan Bleakman therefore has done 16 Foot.

I suppose the week recovery does help a bit.

Great effort Buzz, GoGirl & Co. It was lonely enough last weekend with 30 odd out there, it must've been very quiet with just a hand full.

Lastish, you are one sick puppy backing up a week later. My 20 odd this morning was bad enough.

Sorry to hear you had a rough finish Nat, unfortunately when you're at the bottom of "Buzz-can't-bring-himself-to-say-the-name" there is only one option, no matter how long it takes.

Glad to see no broken legs this time........

Interestingly, the area where the bridge is has been taped off all around the mud. Seems like whomever put the bridge up has realised the issues there with all the mud that the diggers have made in the construction of the bridge. Oh and the bloody red bellies were out yesterday too. What's with that, it's only August!

OOPS! Sorry Mrs Neo...I mean Carmel.

Darren AKA Bear worked out my time which I went from my phone is 5min fast so 13:25 for me. 6hrs30min to caves running mostly with Neo & gogirl.  Then a 30min break of chicken salt with chips and 2 cans of coke......how good were those chips gogirl! then I just felt pretty good so ran back easy in 6hrs25min. Was all great until Nellies but after slogging up those stairs from HELL I plodded away to the tree.
I had a blast out there. Until this yr the longest I've run is Canberra 50k in 2008 but now thinking I might do ok in these ultra runs. Big month where I paced gogirl in goldcoast then 2wks later did 3:01 3rd place at Hunter Valley marathon then 2wks later did 5:08 3rd place 60k bush capital then the following wk a 53min city2surf then feeling good in a 90k yesterday I'm happy with the way I'm going.
Now lets try GNW100km

Very happy to have finally finished 12ft. Buzz summed up my day pretty well it was a long slog for me after Megalong Road on the way back suffering from dehydration I was delirious and vomiting going up Nell..... G@&%. It's all part of the learning phase and gaining experience in Ultra running.

Nice to meet Neo and Mrs Neo and briefly saw djbleakman who looks to be running well especially backing up after last week. Ran almost all of the way out with Neo and bear but mostly on my own on the way back. Thanks to bear for the lift and sharing hot chips at caves house, yep they were good alright.  :D  Buzz did brilliantly after a huge training week.

Hopefully next year.
