Is anybody familiar with the "Town Of Runners" feature documentary. Here is the link... http://www.townofrunners.com/index

My brother lives in London & says that it is showing in cinemas over there. From what I can make out, the video was produced by a British team on the inspiration of a film student who has Ethiopian parents. He wanted to show the positive side of his family's country (other than famine) via doing a documentary on Ethiopian running - with particular focus on a "running town" in Ethiopia (Bekoji) where a lot of great runners come from (bit like Iten in Kenya). Being a British doc., an Olympic year, with London being the host city, I suspect this is why it is showing over there. I would really like to see it shown over here but I've got a feeling the chances are slim in Australia. Does anyone else have more information on this film?

Here is a trailer...

It does look very interesting. There has been a few documentaries on the Kenyan runners, thus it would be good to see an Ethiopian version.

Sorry - don't have any info, but I'd love to see it too.

Someone posted a link in the Kenyan Marathoners thread about the Ethiopians which referenced this movie I think.

I am not a member of any running club or community apart from CR as a forum member. So I only happened to notice this event browsing the web. Unfortunately when I tried to book last month it told me the event was sold out: http://townofrunners...ntbrite.com.au/

Does anybody have a spare ticket/can't go? I will be more than happy to reimburse the cost. It's sad there isn't another screening.

"Hi leyley,

Unfortunately the movie is sold out and we won't be holding another screening at this stage. Keep your eyes posted on cool runnings as some people may post tickets there if they can't attend

I just received pay today and was just about to buy tickets but found it has been sold out. Will there be another screening? Is there any other opportunities to watch the film? Is there a cancellation list, if so can I put my name down? Happy Running,"

I have seen it, our running club organised a showing. I found it to be an interesting doco but rather anti climatic on running in Ethiopia. It's a good reminder of luckyI am that I run for pleasure not because it is my way out of poverty. I have since read a few interviews with the doco maker to follow up on where the girls, Hawii and Alemi, are now.
