And some others were pretty quiet all year, yet still pull the votes in other sections. Maybe we should be told what they were supposed to have done in the background, if thats the case.
Not their fault btw... the perception of course can't be swung.
As they say, democracy is wasted on the masses.
btw, some options didn't have a 'don't know'.

UCB I guess your opinion doesn't count.
I voted for Tim in the 'most inspirational runner' section. There is simply no-one I am inspired to beat more than him.
And in the photo section, how could you go past 'Brokeback Mountain'? The picture says what words cannot; - evocative, moving, with perhaps a subtle suggestiveness: the viewer is drawn in and becomes united with the subject matter, palpably experiencing their sense of elation and triumph over distance, time, altitude and adversity, and embraces the high mutual regard and esteem with which they hold each other.
Underlying this, on a deeper level, the viewer witnesses two shattered endurance athletes reduced to their core beings by the immense physical and mental nature of the challenge they have overcome. The overwhelming sense of unity and mutual dependence on display sends my emotions into sensory overload. Heady, intoxicating, exhilarating, it rocks my world.
Simply, you feel their pain, and share their joy. I know I did. I was more than moved, I was transported to a higher level.
Sincerely, Blue Dog.

For me I couldn't get vote for any other than Action and Eagle on fire. The two lean gentleman running tall past other bay run traffic. The symmetry, almost identically positioned in arms, legs, head. Running in unison towards the unseen goal. And it looks like Action's showing just a little bit of tongue.

The reason the 1/2 mara poll hasn't got a dont know" option is simply space. I can only put in 21 options and there were 21 nominations, leaving no room for a "don't know"

Yes I see your point FPT about the tongue thing, and it scores heavily.
The finer points that swayed my vote were that of the two men, one appears to be wearing grey stockings offset by those head-turning 'little dresses for the ankles' that some ultra dudes have a penchant for, while the other is bare-legged and wearing an eye-catching bright red head-scarf. I find them both arousing and stimulating.

Hold on a minute there BB!
I think you've got it wrong. In my mind an ambassor is someone to represents something effectively. In my experience of you, you are often one of the first to welcome newbies to CR, you network effectively and are extremely supportive to a wide range of people...plus you know a bit about running. IMHO I reckon that you are a suitable nominee for ambassador....and forgive me because I know that I have now embarrassed the hell out of you! Sorry mate....I'll buy you a beer next time I see you!

In the two 'most inspirational runner' sections, you must vote for someone in one section, and tick the 'voted in section 1' (or 2) button in the other section ... if that makes sense.

BB-you think you've been nominated undeservedly? I have 4 votes for most accomplished athlete-I have no idea how that happened! I dont even think of myself as an athlete. And how can my name be up with the likes of Lucky Legs, Staypuff and Kelvin etc as inspirational? It's kinda humbling actually.

Top shelf stuff Action. A simple, straightforward hanging of crap on your fellow ultra-runners.
You're really getting the hang of this Dark Side thing. Upon finishing the Marathon 'Disable' you will be fully fledged. Keep up the good work.

Yeah I agree with you David, I too voted a few 'dont knows' because guess what?....I really didn't know. Yes Thomo I am new to running but theres also the variables of context and geographics. I don't know about other contexts e.g. Ive never been interstate to run, and given that Adelaide is...now what did John Brumby say..."a backwater....' I doubt that many other runners have come here. Therefore they don't realise that the Adelaide City to Bay really is the best run in Australia <G>...what I'm saying is people will vote for what they know and have experienced.
I reckon what the don't know vote shows us is that there is a very wide variety of runners on this site.
Cheers
Frank in SA
PS There is still time for you to vote for all things Adelaidian....if youre not sure just google for genuine confirmation ( written with tongue in cheek

Ok Thomo - when I rely on google to make an informed judgement I will stop making judgements!!! I may be mischievous at times but certainly this was not the reason for voting don't know in several categories - to me that is less mischievous than voting about something on a whim or google.
What I was wondering was as there is no preferential voting perhaps if the other David might like to do another poll of the three ( or in the event of a tie more of course) leaders at a later date so those who vote "don't know" might be able to choose between the three rather than multitudes? And also give an opportunity for those whose choice will not otherwise count to vote for a frontrunner.
obviously this would be unneccesary in any categories with more than 50% votes to the winning nominee

Not yet FPT - you would be right if you omitted the "ever" and referred just to 2007 - but don't forget that as well as competitors there are crew members as well - so those taking part are considerably more than just the competitors.

Re the photos.
As far as a photos go it is hard to make a decision on the photo itself when you know the story behind many of the photos.
I tried to make my decision on just the photo and what I got out of it as if I did not know the people and the story behind the picture.
I think there is one photo that all runners could identify with with out knowing the person(s) or the story.
cheers Plu
