The ghost is the "white lady" this is well known - though i am yet to see her - careful what i ask for here?? not sure exactly what area she's in but was told it's after you cross Warringah road heading North and go down the large hill towards Oxford falls.

I often ride along Wakehurst Parkway and find it quite safe - Military road in the morning on the other hand......afternoons seem ok, maybe drivers are happier heading home than to work!!

I went for a trail run on the weekend which was great up until about the 4th cobweb. I was shrieking like a 13 year old girl at a Justin Bieber concert. I mustn't have been shrieking that loudly because I came tearing around a corner, covered in sweat and bemused spiders, and ran straight into 3 guys in various states of undress. I had no idea I was running through a gay beat. Harry Butler never mentioned this sort of wildlife in his books.

On the topic of dingoes, my father was training for the GC Marathon but was working in a gold mine in the Pilbara Desert. Every morning he'd get up and go for a 16km run around the town through the sand dunes and such. One morning he was plodding along and felt like he was being watched. He turned around and there was a dingo following him about 10m behind. He didn't think anything of it. A few minutes passed and he checked on the dingo and it wasn't alone. Now there were about 8 or so. Just trotting behind him.

He kept his pace steady and thought they were just being curious. Then he noticed two of them creeping up alongside him. He'd seen enough National Geographic docos to realise he was being hunted so he cut his run short and ran across the airfield back to town. As he picked up the pace the dingoes started nipping at his heels. Biting his shoes and charging him, growling. A town resident was up early having a cuppa on his back deck and watched my Dad run, yelling at the top of his voice, so he yelled for my Dad to head to his house. The dingoes stopped when they heard the other voice.

The pack ended up being a bit of a menace. Quite a few family pets were killed by them before 'drastic measures' were taken.

Out running this morning and came across some council workers mowing the side strip on a main road. The guy who was doing the mowing was sitting in the back of a truck holding on to a push mower as his friend drove him up and down the road.
It was either very smart idea or just very lazy.

Wifey was running last night when a dear old couple passed her in their car and pulled over in the distance. An elderly woman got out with her tiny little (something) dog and proceeded to walk the mutt down the road. As wifey caught up the dog started yapping and latched onto her trackies and wouldnt let go. With the poor old woman looking like she was going to go into cardiac arrest, wifey didnt say a word but  stopped for no more than 2 seconds to kick the dog off and then proceeded to race off as she was on pb pace. Thats my girl :Talking Ear Off:

One my long run today, as a result of yesterday's deluge, I've seen and ran through water, water and more water.  A long necked turtle was out walking on one of the bush tracks, nowhere near a waterway so not sure where it had wandered from  :Talking Ear Off:

Was telling a friend about these 'ghosts' and he emailed me this link http://ghostinvestig...iangis/id2.html
which contains the following story:

'Sydney - Wakehurst Parkway - Notorious stretch of highway that is known for many fatal crashes. Many of which are said to have been caused by a young girl by the name of “Kelly” who enters into people’s motor vehicles as they drive along the dimly lit road after midnight. If she is not informed that her presence is unwanted, she will make the car veer off the road and crash.'

Oh yeah! I saw that episode of Supernatural. Ha ha!
But in all seriousness these sorts of stories intrigue me, make me want to invite the poor girl to appear while I'm out!

I'm left speechless.

"We joggers have lives outside of finding violent-crime victims," said jogger Elizabeth Riccardi, who recently stumbled upon the remains of a double-pickax homicide  while jogging around the Bartlett Reservoir near Scottsdale. "We're willing to cooperate with law enforcement, but we don't all have the time to be consoled with a blanket and a cup of coffee while some cop asks us the same tedious questions."

"I just want a good cardiovascular workout," Montgomery added. "I never asked for this, not during an intense incline push or even a slow cooldown."

I bet the dead guy didn't ask to get murdered, either.

Certainly not an Oz occurrence BUT certainly worth recounting, running this early am in local forest - jumped over fallen log & as usual put foot on it to assist clearance, had to extend leap considerably - a skunk was foraging under log, cleared it by a very long way, BUT it became alarmed & took revenge by spraying all local University Cross Country team who were just behind me - - an incredible odour & all those sprayed would have to be decontaminated before entering any cars for travel home - - - -   :D

On an early morning run I saw a drunk guy on a pushbike with a carton of bundy in one arm and a stubby in the other hand. He seemed to have great directional skills

Wonder if it was the same drunk guy who chased me on a 6am run near Bondi years ago. He wanted a light and was convinced I had one and just didn't want to let him use it. I'm not quite sure where he thought I had it stashed, I was only wearing a singlet and pair of running shorts!

Not a strange thing, but a wonderful thing...in Perth for work, went for a run along the Swan River this morning, and had a dolphin cruising alongside the river wall, only a couple of metres from me. WA people tell me it is not uncommon to see river dolphins like that. How often do you get to have a dolphin accompany you on a run?   ;)

1k into my run tonight ran around the corner and ran into a frantic mother duck....I thought, weird - what is this duck doing here in the dark at this time of the evening??  Her 5 tiny little ducklings had fallen through a  grate and couldn't get out of the (thankfully) dry storm water drain..  Hmmm I thought, Brisbane and it's RSPCA have just been decimated by floods and I'm going to have to ring them and tell the there's 5 ducklings stuck in a drain and their mother is frantic?!

Thankfully my flatmate came to the rescue with a crowbar, but I had to go down there and get them ewwww..  They were very, very cute and waddled off into Doomben Racecourse to a safer environment.  Awwwww.   :)

Doing 1 run a week up in the Dandenongs - lots more to see than around Burwood - wallabies, wombats, lyrebirds, heaps of kooka's, black cockatoos, etc.,, and just this week - a deer.
Only been running up there since last September, so first time it caught me by surprise - apparently they're in large numbers now, have been there since the late 1800's - I am a little naive as a suburb dweller, didn't know.

I think our friends in the previously flood ravaged East are going to win this one... I mean boats in trees, really! The best (not strange) thing I've ever seen is a dolphin swimming along side of me as I ran along the beach.  I was nearly, I said nearly, compelled to stop for a squiz but had other things on my mind at the time.

I came to a dead stop today when I came upon an old VW beetle that had thousands of buttons glued to almost every square cm of its surface. I put a few pics here. Weird indeed.

Wow! Pretty impressive work... Not so sure about the number plate though - a little assuming perhaps!?

I saw a road cyclist get pulled over the by Police on my run this morning... Couldn't quite work it out... Though didn't exactly stay around to find out - figured I'd just keep running and mind my own busines.

you reminded of a similar experience about 25 years ago when i used to do a milk run... about 4:30am near the (former) Indooroopilly golf club house, after dropping the 20 homogenised, 10 pasteurised and 5 large cream, i was confronted with what first thought was an grossly overwieght Sheltand pony. as i lt out a bloodcurdling girly-scream it bolted off down the 9th fairway towards the mangroves/river ... when i chatted to the golf club manager later on, he said they had been sighting this big feral pig for years and never managed to catch it and have it relocated

Llamas, miniature ponies, goats, and a big wooly looking cow. At the Coffs Showground. Maybe the circus is in town.

I'm glad the Llama was on a chain, I think it would've gone for me if it wasn't.

I was running through Mandurah a couple of years back, and a car slowed beside me at my pace, and then the passenger proceded to point out it was raining.
'I know'
"it's raining"
'I know'
"but it's raining"
'thanks I like rain'
"but you are getting wet"
'really? not if I run faster'
"but it's still raining"
I turn left on anstruther road, and leave them behind.....

As mentioned on the other thread of the same topic... I happened upon a poor chap recently deceased on the 9th March... the police officer who eventually came to sort it asked for my details before i could leave... so he says the date thinking aloud and writes it on his note pad... then asks my full name and date of birth... I say my name and then 9th March etc... he says, oh.. not today's date, your... oh I see... Happy Birthday!

Hats off to the folks in blue that have to deal these matters routinely  :drinks:

On my way back from a long run yesterday and came across a naked old guy, except for a backpack and hiking boots. He seemed surprised when I told him that it's a popular bushwalk for families/kids (he was only 1km off the main road) and he needs to put some clothes on. It was all wrong for two main reasons:

1. Seeing a saggy nude dude is rather demotivating, or at least not something that comes to mind when I think of motivating things.
2. It wasn't that cold so I can only put those changes down to age, and it's a bleak future waiting for us blokes.

Yesterday I burst through some bushes into a clearing on a suburban trail, much to the surprise of a woman posing topless for photos. Quite an awkward moment. "Time for an interval", I thought as quickly fled the scene.

I saw a helicopter fall out of the sky during a City2Surf in the 1980's.

Did a search on Google but can't find any reference to it - does anyone remember the year?

Gosh other people's recollections for this thread just keep reminding me of things  :)

On the Miami/Nobby's side of North Burleigh Headland, i was trotting down the stairs after the hill from the Burliegh side and out of the corner of my eye, down below and tucked in behind hard up against the rocks, a crew was filming what i deduced to be a soft porn movie. They would not have been visible from anywhere else.

Don't know why i felt obliged to run on with a 'nothing to see here' attitude.... but every year when there on holidays i cast a glance that way... just in case  :8P

Recently saw a car completely wrapped in glad wrap early one Saturday morning. I found it funny. The owner, probably not so much.

I recently reached the crest of a hill on a dirt road about 1km out of town to find at least 50 head of enormous cattle on the road- their rumps reached my head (I'm  not very tall, hence the name). A little unsure how to proceed, I decided to plough on and when they saw me they ran off the road like I was brandishing a rifle!

I was getting through them and all was going well, until an oncoming truck came over the next rise. It startled them more than I did and they bolted from it towards me. Stampede!
