Hi,

This is my first post.

Anyway I'm entered in the 6km Ben Donohue Fun Run on this Sunday @ 9am. It's around Lake Ginnindera, Belconnen. (start is at John Knight memorial park) I'm aiming for a time of around 26-27 minutes.

Is anyone else from CR going to run? Hope to see you there.

Cheers

Jason

Hi Jason;

Welcome to CR and congrats on a very nice first post ... for such a worthy cause.

I've just arrived back from a short holiday in Cairns ... and so am catching up on things;   wow, that was a fantastic place to visit.

This upcoming Sunday 6km run sounds like a great idea;  I was toying with going in this a while back, so thanx for sparking up the interest in it.

I'll be trying to get there, and will be CR dressed appropriately ... so if others are there, come up and say "hi".

A.O.

I'll be there! I don't have any CR gear as of yet but I'll be sure to keep an eye out for anyone wearing some. :)

Cool.

BTW thanks for the replies everyonw. It's nice to get that 'virgin' post out of the way and get some replies, awesome.

I don't have any CR gear (as yet) but will certainly look out for A.O. and any others in CR gear and say hello.

I might even do the track as an easy run either Thursday or Friday evening after work as I only live 5 minutes drive away.

I am in. I did it in 32 minutes last year, still getting over my foot issue, so this year I will be happy to break the 6min average and get under 36 minutes.

See ya's all out there, look for the shaven Gorilla with the backwards Raiders hat.

I'm out.

I've got both daughter and son things a happening this Sunday, and so can't make it.

But Jason, I work over that way ... so as you live over that way, perhaps we could hook up for a Lake Ginninderra run at some stage in the future?

A.O., pity your out for tomorrow, but a training run round the Lake at some stage sounds like a great idea. I work in the City but live over at Giralang so LG is not far from home.

I put my application in Oct 2007, I've got through all the tests and interviews (phew) I am just waiting for the next intake. So I still have the 20 weeks at the college to endure :D

Hopefully I will see you out there tomorrow and we can have a chat.

:D

What a great event it was this morning, and perfect conditions for running. I couldn't believe how many people there were running it was awesome.

Anyway, I'm happy to get my first race out of the way and my training appears to have paid off with a time of 25.36 :).

I was really happy with my time but my inexperience showed with terrible pacing. It's amazing how the adrenaline gets you out there quicker than you could have imagined in the first 2 km.

I went out in 12 minutes for 3km and struggled home in 13.36 for the back 3km. So much for plans of -ve splits or even even splits.

My splits were 1km - 3.53
                      2km - 3.57 (7.50)
                      3km - 4.10 (12)
                      4km   4.30 (16.30)
                      5km   4.40 (21.10)
                      6km   4.26 (25.36)

According to my Polar RS 200 My av HR for the race was 168 (90% mhr) and max HR 172 (92%) which was about what I expected.

Anyway I hope a lot of money was raised for the 2 great causes being funded today.

Cheers

Well done Hulbs
