Feeling Awesome

I have had a few sluggish weeks but in the last 10 days it seems to have clicked.
No more niggling injuries no current blisters or pains.
I did a 15k run this morning a felt really good (never thought I would say that).
I am doing about 40-50k a week and am slowly building up my long run to hit the magical 20k mark in about 3 weeks.
I have discovered the wonderful world of energy Gels and they are working wonders for me.
Hope everyone else's preps are going as good as mine.

My own marathon training isn't really going to "plan" (ha, no plan!) - 55 days out and I haven't done anything over 25km yet (though I run 20+km a several times a week). Been held back a bit by what appears to be shin splits (ugh), and changing jobs/offices which disrupted my scheduled etc. I discovered one of my new workmates is a runner, and gets out with the Melbourne Midday Milers - so that might be something to get onto, to work on upping my pace.
Because my event is overseas, noone in my running group is at the long-run stage of their buildups - so missing having a marathon buddy.

It's also a bummer that quite often people have announced they are doing the marathon so feel they can't quit and go back to enjoying running again. The winter rainy morning runs can be especially tough
Great to know you are enjoying it! Keep going

as the dry old bugger in the movie City Slickers said "that's a great yahoo, son" !!! great to see.
you'll strike a few challenging runs when you get to around 25-28k, then again at 30-32k, but don't worry that's normal.

Only having them on 13k plus runs. Cause i am running between 6.15-6.40 min k's they are well over an hour so gels are fine.
By the way i forgot to add to my opening topic that this thread was negative free.
I clearly remember why i don't come here very often.
See you all in about 3 months when i forget about all the knocking know it alls on here.

It's great that you are listening to your body and it is rewarding you with feeling great!
That's the most important thing, not what others think of your fueling plan.
Keep up the great work!
PS. What event have you signed up for?

Second Sunday in October and I can't believe how quick it is coming around already.
Started thinking about it in October last year so gave myself 1 year to train for it.
I was only running 5k's 2 or 3 times a week when I started so I have improved a lot since then.

I say eat what you need when you feel that you need it. But also think about it a little too. Practice running without them, as it may help your body adapt. You will in fact find that after a few LONG runs where you felt that gels got you through, you won't need them in the next long runs. As I said, feeling awsome is the first step toward being awsome, and that is true. DO the long runs, use the gels, finish well and feeling good. Build up fitness so that the next long runs can be done without them
